Storyline effects Thedas.Romance does'nt.

Well, that's just not true. Both Landsmeet and the endgame are different if Alistair is in a romance. Have you actually played any of the romances?

Heh, there's the obvious. Female in love with Alistair, and the decisions she'd make and try to convince him to make because of the choices offered.  I think anyone in any of the romances would be far more likely to make one choice, while wardens who are not in a romance or have had one go very wrong would be more likely to make the other choice.

Yeh, I think romance figures pretty prominently in this case and affects the big picture and Thedas.

Edit: removed spoilers from my post

All of them but thats not the point. my male warden can marry Queen Anora without romance. also alistar can marry Anora and hate her thats not romance

KotORs romance system is more complicated than MEs, and BGII's is way more complicated. NWN is to BioWare as Cars is to Pixar.

Indeed. Jaheira's was so complicated that Bio never did get all the bugs out of it.

Personally, I think the idea of romancing Jaheira was a bug in itself.  I couldn't stand her...I think I hated all the romanceable companions in BG2.  I suppose she was better than Anomen.

She was my favorite. People have as much differences in CRPG romance tastes as they do when it comes to the real thing, I guess.

Actually the contrary .. I think romance give more meaning to one character inside a long story. That your character simply not just one that solve problem.

For instance the *camp* being Kirkwall .. It's can lead to very good thing.Like doing a quest and running into a companions doing the same quest but working for someone else. Thus you have to decide to help him or help one other.

It's could lead to very dramatic situation.

lol, how the heck would romancing someone impact an entire world !?

Don't know if someone has responded to this or not, but...

Examples of romances affecting history:

Helen of Troy
Cleopatra
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert
Horatio Nelson and Lady Hamilton

There ya go! :D

do those romances effect the world today

Yes. Yes they do.

They do affect Thedas.

For instance if you romance Alisatir, you have a shot at become Ferelden royalty. That constitues having something to do with the world of Thedas doesn't it?

I just wasted the last 15 minutes of my life reading through this thread and I have come to believe that there is two probable  motives behind the thing that started this thread. Either...

1. Obvious troll is obvious.<_<
or
2. It is too mentally retarded to functon and needs to be put down. Now.
or
3. It is under the age of 10 and shouldn't be on the forums anyways.:wizard:

Now that I've said my peace, I return once more to the shadows. Though, to all the regular forum-goers out there, I have but one thing to say...
I expected more from you. I thought there was a "No feeding the trolls" policy. Shame on you.:bandit:

Edit: NO FEEDING THE TROLLS!

Why would the romances need to affect Thedas?

Meh, maybe it's useless even asking.

Just a point of extrapolation here, the romances themselves may not affect the world as a whole, but they do affect the hero and can influence his/her decisions. If you are madly in love with a npc and your decision to save him/her would negatively impact the world at large, would you sacrifice your love or not? Matters of the heart can change a characters perspective, or drive them down a path they might not otherwise have considered. This additional element adds to the richness of the story as a whole. So, whether you choose to be a lascivious lecher or a contrite celibate can and will impact the paths you take.
