Pfft, male Qunari love interest? If we're not getting a female Qunari LI, might as well not have a male one while we're at it! I know Saibh is with me in not wanting to so much as touch those horny brutes.
/KO!
I have no idea what this man is talking about.
Somone, bury the body!
Yeah. You.

Tempted. So very tempted.
Um...okay, I'll give in. Maybe I shouldn't, since it will lead only to disappointment, but I care not!
EDIT: Yay! I don't think I've ever used a banner that was not my own. Huh.

Maybe it's because I'm a guy, but I just don't see the appeal.

@Saibh Well if it lessen the blow a bit, I could always make a gif for the companion option? lol
@Saraphial I agree that the Qunari romanceable would have to be a bit younger, more impressionable that way too!
I'm a guy, but I can fully understand for myself and the ladies playing Lady Hawke that there tends to be some...appreciation for a strong, maybe even somewhat dominant love interest. It goes both ways, especially if we consider Miranda from ME2. she was confident, somewhat cold and distant; and many male and female gamers alike took to her character! Whether it was fanboy/girl attraction or purely a roleplaying option choice, players wi enjoy what they enjoy and want what they want!
Perhaps I should change the title to A Male Qunari/Tal'Vashoth Romance/Friendship? Guys who play guys can have their bromance with someone other than Varric, for those that *gasp* don't like him...

That... that is a dangerous thing to say.
I do hope for a male Qunari romance though. I will squeal like the little fangirl that I secretly am. Because, quite honestly, it would be a nice change from everyone leaning on the PC for support. That is, of course, if this Qunari romance/companion is as stoic as Sten tried to portray the people to be.

And I think that's something that plenty of male and female gamers alike can appreciate, like I said before. People have wanted a strong and independent character so that the PC, doesn't have to, but still will have to (to a degree), be the leading force.

Can you elaborate? Why do you think that they wouldn't allow it past the rating system? They allowed Turian and Drell romances in Mass Effect 2; different game I know but still.svendigo wrote...
Somehow I don't think ESRB will approve. Unless there are no sex scenes.

Not to mention that there's a risk of hallucinating if you kiss a Drell...

My concern about hot iron pokers aside, I wouldn't be against the idea of a male qunari LI. I liked Sten (as a friend), and he was secretly a softie too (playing with a kitten - awwww).
Mary Kirby told us qunari sex isn't, in fact, lethal. I mean, their size is...I'll stop there.
Sten was my favorite short of Alistair in DAO. I absolutely adore him--but I wouldn't have wanted a romance with him. When I talk about a qunari romance, I don't mean him, really.
Also, you know what I remember? In his Fade dream, his qunari buddies were quite genial and...not emotional, exactly, but they weren't "No.". I see no reason for him to remember them falsely or for the Fade to portray them the wrong way, given that he found it a good enough dream to want to stay in.

The other cool thing about this is that I can see it taking a LONG time to actually happen. The best romances (in fiction at least) tend to be those that take time. If there's been a big build up for a relationship, I get giddy the first time they even touch each other in a more than platonic way, even if it's something as simple as holding hands or brushing hair out of their face. DA2 is a great work space for that kind of set up, due to the ten year time frame. Both Hawke and any LI would go through a LOT of development, both on an individual level and within their relationship.
What about a saarebas (mage) LI instead of a qunari or tal'vashoth? THAT would be cool, especially with a mage Hawke. To go from such oppression with regards to magic to complete freedom to use it to aid Hawke would be a very interesting element for a character, not to mention the upgrade from "defective tool" to personhood.
Oh boy, now I'm all excited for this idea and it's gonna be really sad when it doesn't happen. Fingers crossed!

I approve of this idea. Especially considering that mage Hawke is an apostate. This will probably lead to some amusing dialogue.Ineffable Igor wrote...
