Awww, who's the cute widdle deathclaw...

AUGH - MY SPLEEN!!!!

Haha, but seriously, I'm sure people don't equate qunari with deathclaws. Then again, I've seen comparisons to Vikings and demons at this point, so who knows.

I wonder if qunari are even given a name.

They are, but according to...Mary, I think, it's more like a SSN than a personal sobriquet. Used to identify who they are. It's not what a qunari imagines themselves to be--they are identified by job.

I have to wonder, though, what do they call children? Just "child"? Seems inefficient.

Exactly what I thought, to be honest. Something like an ID number.

As for what they call their children...well, nothing? I mean:

- Hey, tamassran, I delivered the child as planned. Here you go.
- Hand it over.
*the mother never sees the child again*

Oh, yes, I know, but when they're educating them. Child #1, Child #2? I assume they don't start working just as soon as they're out of utero, but, hey, these are qunari...

The Qun needs to be destroyed or reformed.

I guess. Maybe not exactly Child #, but something similar in principle. Temporary names just doesn't sound likely.

Qunari also remind me of native Americans for some reason. No, I'm not going as far as "Sitting Bull", but, you know...

Thinking about what Sten said about qunari children, It would be interesting to see them in DA2. I'd imagine they'd be like Sten with penchant for cookies and sweets...And adorable little horns!

And, It would be great imo, if we get a battle hardened qunari, and with amazing coercion (I'd say master) skills, we are able to sway his feelings regarding romantic love. The draaamaaa~! I would just die for that kinda thing!

*coughs* OK, let me get back to my stuff.

Why not? Since it's the way they treat grownups why not use it from the very beginning? I mean - give a name (or even a number) just to take it away several years later? Not likely.

Well, even if there isn't a qunari LI in the game, there's plenty fan-made stuff out there (such as comics *cough*) that can help sate that thirst. :)

I'm assuming they communicate with each other--if that's the case, trying to point out one child in the midst of others seems, as I said, inefficient. Regardless, it hardly matters.

We need a dev to come in and stamp their Image IPBlogo in here with answers and more insight!! Image IPBI think we have pretty good questions such as:

How does a Tal'Vashoth choose its name after leaving the Qun?

What do the Qunari people call the children that get passed off to the Tamassrans?

What is an example of a Qunari's true name, and not their job title?

Will we see a Tal'Vashoth/Qunari male companion/love interest? Why and why not? (If you feel gracious enough to answer 'why'.)

Do we have more questions you guys? Image IPB

Are the Tal'Vashoth who are fighting against the Qun a relatively organized group? Or do they operate as small unconnected pockets of resitance fighters? Have they inflitrated Qunari society, working as sleeper agents against those they feel are oppressing them, or are some of them of the mind set that it would just be better to fight the Qun from the outside in rather than the inside out?
Do some Tal'Vashoth actively venture out of their way to undermine campaigns by the Qunari against other civilizations?
What is their general stance on Mages? Does the biogtry of the general Qunari populace translate over to their Tal'Vashoth counterparts, or are they generally more open to them? - Even if it's only in a 'you can help us fight for our cause' sort of thing than the Tal'Vashoth actually being more lenient about their feelings on magic.
What countries generally have the greatest concentration of Tal'Vashoth/Qunari outside of Qunari held lands?

Sorry writers.. I can't help but be curious about this. I'm a lore junky so this kind of thing fascinates me. Image IPB

Alrighty, I'll jump on the Qunari LI bandwagon, just because Varric might not be an LI.

How does a Tal'Vashoth choose its name after leaving the Qun?

Arbitrarily. Could be a word he likes the sound of. Could be something he thinks is descriptive. Some of them don't choose anything at all.

What do the Qunari people call the children that get passed off to the Tamassrans?

I don't understand this question. The Qunari word for child is imekari. They call them that. Do you want to know how the Tamassrans distinguish between them? The Tamassrans name them.

What is an example of a Qunari's true name, and not their job title?

Look, I know you guys are fixated on the name thing because you didn't get to find out what Sten's was, but it's really not an improvement to know. It would translate to something like "Male born in Seheron to a fifteenth-generation Ben-Hassrath female from Seheron and a seventieth-generation soldier male from Qunadar with no horns and purple eyes, second toe longer than the first, and a thirty percent chance of inheriting a heart defect."

I keep telling you, they don't use them. And there's a damned good reason.

Will we see a Tal'Vashoth/Qunari male companion/love interest? Why and why not? (If you feel gracious enough to answer 'why'.)

You'll never see a Qunari romance because they don't have romance. Could you see a Tal'Vashoth romance? Who knows? Considering that they come from a culture that hasn't had romance in hundreds of years, what are the chances?

Are the Tal'Vashoth who are fighting against the Qun a relatively organized group?

The Tal'Vashoth aren't a group. They're individuals who abandon the Qun and become violent. Sometimes they band together. Sometimes they don't. They don't really have goals. They're not a resistance. They're largely anarchists and terrorists.

When a Qunari abandons the Qun he or she becomes Vashoth. Eventually, they have to leave Qunari society because there's no way to really hide when all your neighbors are bees in the hive or cogs in the machine, sooner or later, someone will notice you're not doing your part for the group. Stick around and get discovered, and you get re-educated by the Ben-Hassrath. Or you leave. So they go.

Violent ones become Tal'Vashoth. Which is mostly the ones who were former soldiers, because they have no other useful skills. Many of them never fight the Qunari, they just become mercenaries because what the heck else are they supposed to do? When they actively strike at the Qunari, they usually just murder the most defenseless civilians they can find, because they don't have numbers, officers, goals, equipment, or organization that would make them a match for the antaam.

Mages are tolerated by other Tal'Vashoth, but they're not really popular. Without anyone to train them, how likely do you think it really is that Vashoth mages live to old age without becoming abominations or accidentally murdering people?

And there's the golden opportunity for the people interested in this thread--a Vashoth mage to befriend and train with their PC mage or, if you're interested in an Odd Couple sort of friendship, a PC Templar.  Image IPB
