Ok spock every decision has to be logical.

It's logical for a reason.

If you're just roleplaying your character then I got no beef with ya'. It's when people try to defend Paragon on the forums as though it is at all practical or rational that the vein in my forehead starts pulsating.

I BLEW UP THE COLLECTOR BASE.
"Why?"
BECAUSE WE DONT NEED IT TO FIGHT THE REAPERS, SHEPARD CAN WIN WITHOUT IT. HE'LL FIND A WAY.

Well in all fairness it is just as ridiculous to claim knowledge of Shepard's failure to save the base as galaxy dooming.  None of us knows what is going to happen.  I doubt that it will be necessary to make any particular game decision to complete ME3, though I fully expect it to affect the ending.  I bet there will be an ideal set of decisions for making the galaxy better, just as there will be a set of decisions that make the galaxy a bleak place in the aftermath of the Reaper War.  There are plenty of justifiable reasons for both sides of all big game decisions, it's just personal preference.  There is no "logical" side, they each are infused with emotions, just different types depending on the situation.  That's the main flaw with these arguments.

It isn't galaxy dooming, but it sure as hell isn't productive. All Shepard has done is permanently closed off one avenue that might have lead to a solution. Now we'll never know (assuming we inhabit a universe in which Shepard blew it up). My beef is, Shepard blew up the base without offering an alternative.

Metagaming aside, you currently have the fate of one of the strongest weapons in the entire galaxy in your hands with it's creators coming to cull the galaxy. Logically, you'd use the base to it's fullest and find out what you're up against / how to use it's tech / how to fight the enemy. Yet... Paragons blow it up for...

I can't even say why you'd blow it up without sounding a little off. Shepard will most likely be able to win the fight without it (because otherwise they screwed Paragons pretty badly)  but in real life, somebody in those shoes would use the knowledge they have in their hands instead of blowing it up.

Yop. But in real life, we would not have only TWO choices. I hesitated a looong time in the Collector base. But in the end, I could not risk the Illusive Man to blow up the galaxy after we blow up the Reapers. I really don't trust him.

Of course, I'd probably would've given the base to the Alliance / Council instead (even though Cerberus still would've recieved the tech through the Alliance...) but between both choices I'd rather trust Cerberus than let the Reapers come with us having a tech disadvantage. Better the devil you know.

TIM never asked you to keep the base for him, that's just the implication because he knows you can't give it to anyone else. It is an extremely inconvenient place in the galaxy that only Cerberus can reach in a timely manner.

(though I do get your point. Were this the "perfect game" there'd be any number of ways would have approached the Collector problem)

yup I blew up the base because the idea of TIM having it sounded scarier than the Reaper threat.

You have a warped idea of what is scary then.

Really? The Reaper threat is looming and it seems we'll have time to prepare for it.
However TIM can use that to his advantage.  Its pretty obvious that saving the galaxy isn't his agenda.  He has quite the power already give him that ship and there's no telling what could happen.
The Reapers want to destroy all life in the galaxy.
Spectre might make it so bad that all life would just wish they were destroyed.

I think somebody needs to be reminded that the Reapers have wiped out all life in the galaxy countless times and also it took a large chunk of the Councils/Alliance's fleet to take down just one.

However TIM can use that to his advantage.  Its pretty obvious that saving the galaxy isn't his agenda.  He has quite the power already give him that ship and there's no telling what could happen.

Securing human dominance is his agenda, if he's smart he'll know the best way to do this is by destroying the Reaper threat first.

The Reapers want to destroy all life in the galaxy.

This is bad.

Spectre might make it so bad that all life would just wish they were destroyed.

The Collector base data might be useful, but I don't want to give Cerberus any more power. It'd very possibly damage the galactic unity we'll need more to fight the Reapers; I don't trust TIM to not try to position himself as the savior of humanity and attempt to take charge of the situation. Oh, he's been very calm and collected up until now, but now that he's actually got his power...

I see Paragon as a goal one desire to be. Yes, saving a neighbour's cat or Blue Suns' employees could delay you from saving something more important but this is not -- at least in the game -- hapenning. Paragon can do this things this way and s/he does it because that's what s/he thinks is right from the morale point of view, not to maximize the effectiveness.

Plus, I think Shepard hit a nail when she (or he) said on Collector's base to TIM (about the reaper) that s/he don't betray her/his belief because of fear. For paragon is walking on the path of good deeds more important than a result itself. Not corrupting herself/himself or other around is priority. The end doesn't justify the means.

TIM doesn't do that. SB and Saren didn't do that.

Is it stealing from a shop more wise decision than trying to find way how to feed yourself without harming others even if it is a harder and uncertain task? In my eyes no and I am certain in Paragon person wouldn't approve too.

How do you know that keeping a collector's base won't doom a galaxy thanks to humanity greed?

How others know that there isn't anyone else who can replace you in the case that you fall from a tree during saving a neighbour's cat and break your neck? And if not, do you even care? I do not know and I don't.

Not only in ME universe, I am someone with my own mind and morals and I am willing to do something for others. It is my decision how I do it and when I do it. If my priorities are seen as not good, others can find better replacement or do it themselves. If they can't it, I can't be blamed for their incompetence.

That's my thought on Paragon "rightness". I enjoy it. If BioWare decides to make more Ashley/Kaidan situation, I am fine with it and it would be interesting but I am okay with this too because it is about a pure joy. Sometimes less drama existing for sake of drama is a nice option.

And by the way, you forget that Commander Shepard can do everything. Then why not do all things at once? :D
