I think the writers always have a general idea of what it's going to happen...but it's not like they are going to plan in detail everything. J. K. Rowling didn't know EXACTLY what she's gonna write in so many books, i am sure.

And "What mage would get an owl as a pet?" - that was hilarious! Whoever came with the idea, congrats :D

finally someone mentioning that.
that made me sooo happy xD
I've been waiting for a Harry Potter joke

I'm more attached to the characters in The Stolen Throne and The Calling than I am to most of the Origin characters, honestly. But maybe I'm just a minority here.

I am about the same. I love Alistair and Morrigan, but maker; I fell in love with Maric and the young Loghain.
I doubt you are a minority :o
If so...then we could form a club ;P

And here i go again, three in a row (that's what happens when you jump into a discussion and reading every post)

But I don't get the whole "my warden" thing.

I have made 11 wardens.

Some I got alot more attached to and played awakening, and the dlc's with. And others I just left with the ending in DA:O.

But still, I made several wardens. They are all "my" warden based on my choices.

But I for one is super exited and can't wait for the sequel ^^

And I think that as fans you shouldn't disrespect the creators just because things didn't go as you wished. Give Hawke a chance and maybe you will love him too, if not, too bad.

You can always go back to play DA:O or turn to fanfiction.

But don't disrespect the people that created the world, the story, the charactes, and yes - your chance to create "your" warden.

We are this far into the franchise and everywhere you turn stuff is either unknowable, unknown or unresolved.

Maybe you forgot how franchises work but the original is supposed to start the questions, dunno if you remember the first Star Wars but people always asked "What are those laser swords? What is the Force? What happened to Kenobi? Who is Vader? Who is the Emperor?" and it has happened millions of other times.

The first in a series introduces the characters, the questions, and the "hook" (For me the hook was magic and religion. Guess bioware didn't deliver the hook they wanted good enough if its about Flemeth). The rest of the time the series answers the questions. Just relax and don't start whining until after the second game

Well, if you're tired of discussing the Warden/Hawke thing just skip this post. Consider I'm just practicing my English

I wished to continue my Warden's story. Andraste's blood, I dreamt my Warden's going travelling, finding Alistair (drunkard or not, though I still hope for best) and getting him back to her tent, and so on and so forth. And suddenly - Hawke, new character, some... tramp! I was hugely dissapointed. It seems I even said something like "To hell, I'm not going to play that, in no terms!"
But... curiosity killed a cat ))) The more I read about DA2, the more I want to play. And it's not because the wow-articles about new fighting system and like that. I really wish to find out more about this world you gave us, BioWare. (Oh, ok I still hope Hawke will meet Alistair somewhere and will be able to convince him to return to his beloved :innocent:).

Anyway, thanks again for your awesome world and such wonderful characters! I really mean it ;)
There's just one point. Please, if you're not going to bring our Wardens back, if you have killing them in mind, please just.. make it a decent death, ok? Something like dying while saving a kitten from burning house is just not an option

I have no problem with the loose ends, per se. I just want some assurance that they will be answered in time. I find it not at all good that my warden's story ended with a slide saying that she disappeared, leaving her like and love behind, with no opportunity to deal with events myself, either brining her home, or making a concious choice to keep her away. Things that change the ending you played willy-nilly are not a good thing unless you get a chance to deal with them. I don't need to know when, how, or where that will happen, I just need to know that it will, and the type of content we got in the DLCs after Ostagar, the premature end of them, and the talk of no wardens and other parts of Thedas has raised questions in my mind where none existed before. I don't need instant, easy answers. I'm fine with new characters and stories. But I need to know that my ending hasn't been permanently undone with no input from me.

Your english is excellent. I must say, I'm hugely impressed by all you people who speak multiple languages so fluently!

I, too, hope we run into Alistair and have some significant interaction, either as king, or exiled. I can't see him being there if wandering with the Warden, as we know the Warden won't play a role, or if he stayed with the wardens, as he'd have no reason to be there.

I wouldn't try to convince him to go back to the Warden myself. Too much water under that bridge--bitter, bitter water. ;) I would like to have the chance to help him get back on track, however. He's still a guy who really needs to be fulfilling a duty, preferably by helping people in some way, and for him to stay so down and out would just be a tragic waste of potential.

Well, now, talking about the loose ends in  Witch Hunt.. I've got one thought. Morrigan leaves a present for us. And as I remember there are two books there - a stolen Dalish one and... our present? So what if this book is going to be a new book about DA? I mean a real book in real life, like The Stolen Throne  and The Calling? I remember I read somewhere Mr.Gaider saying that there will be books about DA2. Someday.
Well at least that could explain why our Warden wasn't able to read it... Now that would be just awesome!
I really liked those two. although it seemed to me there was to much "he ran him/her/it with his blade" but, oh, never mind that, it was great! I just don't remember having so mush pleasure from reading a book in English since I finished my translation of Good Omens.

So, thank you once again, Mr.Gaider, and your team too! You've made a great job with Thedas and all. Can't wait for your books and the new game of course. Thanks again. Really

P.S.: still hope to see my Warden back. I don't insist, but... you know, I'll just keep my fingers crossed, ok? ;)

Thanks, really )) Gee, now I'm feeling rather confused  I just wish to have an opportunity to practice more often. Oh, and learn a couple more languages too, but I'm just toooo lazy to do it

Well I just wish to tell him something like "What do you need more - your wounded pride or the woman you love?" and hope he makes a right choice

I would also like to just run in to him. That would be so great ^^ My warden has always (and with always I mean those times I romanced Alistair) ended up with him and he becomes king, or he died.
So that whole "go back to your love" doesn't really matter for me and would be rather weird to have that encounter just for those who romanced him but could not have him by "your side" but I really think bioware could have a good reason for a small cameo from him :P
at least if you made him king. Otherwise you could run into anora

Ah, see I see it in the opposite manner, because I don't see it as a matter of pride but values, and her showing that they don't share those at all. Whose values are more correct is open to debate. ;) But that's the subject of another thread, and we veer off topic. Sorry, OP!

I prefer stories that are self-contained.

Tough. I prefer stories that leave the player still wanting more.

I am seeking assurance from Bioware that they have planned out the entire series with a cohesive narrative, and are not making it up as they go along.

We're not making it up as we go along. Except for the parts where we are, of course, but we have a Master Plan (if that's what you're asking). Whether that translates into "will all my questions be answered?" the answer-- very clearly-- is "maybe". But I wouldn't hold your breath or anything. That would be ill-advised.

I'm with David I love having cliffhangers... while hating them. and of course they have a master plan they always do.

lol Thats one of the best things about a series :wizard:.  Learning things as you go, hints to the future, till one day you stumble on to something and you go

"Holy Crap! I remimber when so and so said this thingy was going to happen, and look .... Im right in the middle of it :o!"

lol thats my favorite part to be honest

I considered making a new thread for this, but I decided to just bump this old one.
This is a list of all the loose ends in the dragon age franchise. There are so many that I undoubtedly missed a couple, but here are the ones I could think of:

What is the Old God Baby's "destiny"(alluded to by Morrigan in witch hunt}
What is Flemeth? (Morrigan said she wasn't truly human, or a blood mage, or an abomination...)
What is the "change" that is coming to the world?
What is the "Mirror World"? Where did it come from?
What is Morrigan Planning for the old god baby?
What exactly is the old god baby? Does it have special powers?
What happened to Morrigan and the warden if they both went into the mirror?
what happened to the warden if only Morrigan went into the mirror?
What was the "thing of great interest" that Morrigan left for the warden with the Dalish Book?
What happened to Morrigan if the warden stabbed her and she fell into the mirror?
Why did the statue say it would never speak to Finn again?
Where did the Army of Harvasters at the end of Golems of Agmarrak come from?
What did the Army of Harvesters do after they were released?
What happened to the Darkspawn after the Architect "freed them" (if you sided with the architect)
Why was the Architect born sentient?
What was the cause of the "rumors of a new blight in Orlais" (the epilogue of the orlesian warden)
Did Alistair and Queen Cousland ever manage to have a child?
Why did Morrigan leave after the ritual?
Where do Darkspawn come from? Is the Chantry's version of events true?
What will happen with the "Qunari Invasion" Sten alluded to (looks like that one's going to be answered, what with recent screen shots and all. In your face, Indoctrination:devil:)
What happened with the exalted march the chantry was planning against orzummar? (If you did Dagna's sidequest)

Asyou can see, most of the loose ends are from Witch Hunt. Maybe Bioware will tie them all up in one fell swoop by de-canonizing the DLC?
Please post any other loose ends you can thik of, and speculate as to how they will be tied up.

Not that I don't take your point, Andrahil - but it isn't the writers' responsibility to answer every question they pose, just sayin'.

I'll answer a few of them, however it seems most of them will be answered in DA2 or likely to never be answered at all.

AndrahilAdrian wrote...

Finn never returned to the Mage Tower.

Did Alistair and Queen Cousland ever manage to have a child?

Grey Wardens cannot have children amongst themselves.

Why did Morrigan leave after the ritual?

Because she wanted to raise the child on her own.

+ the implications of maybe the Warden wanting to kill the baby / Morrigan.

Where do Darkspawn come from? Is the Chantry's version of events true?

It's part of the religion, they won't outright say it.

Raising it with a partner means compromises.  This is - rather self-evidently - not in her interest.

Because it has the soul of a living god inside it and not because her biological clock happened to be ticking.

And what use would that soul be to her? What does she hope to get from the child that is worth leaving the warden (assuming they're in a relationship)

I suspect that she expects to get a tax break - but that's purely speculative, of course.

My Warden isn't paying child support, being a Grey Warden isn't too paying.

She says the boy has a destiny that she needs to help with by going through the Eluvian. Change is coming, and Morrigan needs to prepare, she needs time and power, to set things in motion for what is to come. The boy, if born, may play a part. If not, then she'll have to make due somehow.

She's a pagan type she might think she's saving the soul, my personal opinion is that Flemeth and Morrigan were membrs of a dragon cult (which is why Flemeth can change into a dragon) and maybe did worship the old gods.
