Mass Effect 2 steam version and Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC.

Running versions 1.02 of the game.

After completing the DLC and getting all the new upgrades/investments/recieving incoming packages/watching all the videos/talking to Liara/Feron  when I try to head back to the normandy the game crashes.

I can't get back to the normandy. Can't do much else. The game crashes everytime.

Anyone else have this issue?

I am having the same issue, my game crashes after I speak with her, trying to catch the cab I run down a hallway and it crashes in the same spot everytime. I cant find any info on this, but will post back if I do.

Yah, I ran up against the not installing thing on the first day like so many others and now this. I get around to playing the game and finishing up the new DLC.. And I can't go back to the Normandy. For the quality of ME2 so far, it seems odd that this one new DLC is causing so many problems.

I have similar issues. When I finish the DLC, "The Shadow Broker", I find that, at least in my game, I still have things on Illium to do. I can go/do anything else, even get back on the Normandy, but I can't get the Justicar on Illium. The game crashes for me right at the long hallway going from the stock market to the area where you pick up the contact to get Thane...



I hope they come up with an answer to this...

Similar problems after installation of the DLC. First of speaking with Liara, it crashes just i passed theTRansportation-Shippping Door in Ilium.

So i speak to Liara. It Crashes just when i leave the ladder of the Liara's Office.

This doesn't happen without the installation of the DLC ç_ç

I didnt had any problems installing it, but I have this problem, when I try to return to Normandy, the game crashes. Any ideas?.

I've had the return to Normandy problem on one of my playthroughs and fixed it by deleting some save files, but it's returned with a vengeance for my second Shepard. I tried repeating my earlier fix, but it's not working. I really don't know how to get around this.

EDIT: Fixed it!  I deleted the autosave file, and the Normandy loaded properly.  I'm guessing that the autosave may become corrupted occasionally, so even if you reload, this file prevents areas from loading properly.

Hmm, tried removing my autosave, and nothing changed.. I suppose I'm willing to play the DLC again and see if it screws up on another save.. Still pretty lame.

I found that by going back to an earlier save, the game was able to load the area properly. This is the only way I have found to work.



If you are having any issues with the game, whether it is sound, video or freezing, just reload a previous save. Keep going back to earlier saves until you find one that works.



THAT MEANS SAVE OFTEN!

I had similar problem after installing Shadow broker, could not get to normandy from any save game, live support reccomended manual uninstall ( http://support.ea.co...ated=1275432392) then reinstall the game and all DLC again from scratch. This seems to have worked, the dlc install must have corrupted a game file. I have vista 64 bit but not using Steam.

WIll solve some of the issues here. Try running the game in windowed mode.

Mine crashes at the bottom of the stairs from Liara's office. this happens after I speak with her.

I had the crash issue when getting back on Normandy after asking Liara to join with me there. I did quick save before speaking to her and after that everytime I loaded that quicksave it crashed. So tried earlier save which I made right after it loaded Broker ship first time after killing SB. No crash while using that save. No other crashes so far with multiple playthroughs.

As Uncas said save often and try earlier save. It might solve the crashing when going back to normandy. Game also does autosave while it crashes on returning to normandy with Liara. That save loads you on brokership and Liara's visit never happen since game acts like it did happen. So if game crashes on loading normandy, autosave is most likely useless.

The fix i found was to change all my graphics settings to "No" (film grain, shadows, etc.) right before I enter the hallway, then pass through the point of crashing (whch now it shouldn't) and after that I return all my graphics settings back to "Yes".

To everyone who is experiencing crashes while trying to return to the Normandy, here's the solution: create a shortcut to the masseffect2.exe file, located in \\\\Mass Effect 2\\\\Binaries\\\\Masseffect2.exe, then right click the link and, at the end of the target path for running the executable, add this parameter at the end: -nomoviestartup so that the path looks like this:

"X:\\Path\\To\\Mass Effect 2\\Binaries\\MassEffect2.exe" -nomoviestartup

[EDIT] repeating slashes are a forum bug, read them as single slashes.

where X:\\Path\\To is the location where the game was installed. This fixed it for me, and it's the same fix that worked for a similar crash in Kasumi's Lost Memory.

Bottom line: Bioware, please fix your [expletive]. These games are great and all, but it's frankly ridiculous that paying customers need to hunt around like morons for fixes to bugs that could have been avoided with more coding effort, not to mention that when issues get this much out of hand there should be at least some sort of knowledge base around to help players solve their problems quicker . Here's hoping you'll deliver quality software next time, even if the game takes longer to ship. Thanks.

My game crashes in the middle of the cab chase..................that is when that asari spectre rams into my cab........................everytime at this point everything just becomes black...............................please help!

An update.



Seems that this may be limited to returning to the CIC. I loaded a few saved games made when I was standing at different parts of the ship and they worked.



But taking the lift back to the CIC causes the same old crash. Sigh... btw, BeastOfSoda, i tried that. Speeded things up, but it still crashes when gg back to the CIC. Thanks anyway - it speeded up the game... Hehe...

Ok another update. (Heh im desperate, and willing to share)



I dunno if this has been mentioned, but I just reinstalled the Shadowbroker DLC. And now I can go back to the Normandy again

here is the solution,
Download and install  mass effect 1.02 patch from bioware.
Download the Mass.Effect.2.Crack.1.02-IMZ  from Piratebay and apply the crack.
the game will run like a charm.Hope this will solve all the crashing issues!!

same here, thx for the tip. 

Amazingly enough, this actually works for me.  I can now through the hallway if I run in windowed and all graphics options set to No.  However, if I re-enable all the settings and try to pass through after getting through the first time, it will still crash.

I´m have a similar issue with my DLC. My first play through went smoothly without a problem and when I went back to play through it again in another save it crashes every time at the final loading screen when you go back to the Normandy when Liara comes to wist you in your cabin. That is the only problem I have had so far. I don´t know how to fix it I hope Bioware will release something to fix this problem. There this is actually my very first post on here. Sorry for any grammar mistakes if there are any English is not my first language.

Thanks for the workaround tips. I too experienced the crash in the hallway below Liara's office after installing the Shadow Broker DLC, and turning off the lighting-related graphics options temporarily allowed me to avoid the crashing.
