I'm curious about the effect of LotSB on romances

First of all, this is NOT intended to start any flame wars and I humbly and sincerely ask that you who reply keep this on topic. I am just curious who has come to prefer Liara as a romance option as a result of the DLC. After seeing the change in her and how well her character has evolved. So these are my questions

1. Who did you first go for in ME1

2. Who did you go for in ME2 (if not remaining loyal to ME1 LI)

3. Post LotSB, who have you chosen? or remained faithful to?

Lastly

4. If the LotSB changed you to prefer Liara, why? specifics please.

5. If you romanced no one initially, did you decide to go for Liara after the LotSB?

BioWare has done a wonderful job on the story of the LotSB and I just want to see who regrets cheating and who still wants to stick with their initial romance.

Again, I am not trying to start any negativity, I just genuinely want to see what people think and if this DLC has changed you.

I do understand that I am going to mostly attract the diehard other romancees first and foremost, but I am hoping some of the people I know who jumped ship will tell of the wonderful character Liara is as a result of the wonderful writing of BioWare.

I was about to start a similar topic, DeltaBoy.

This DLC has definitely changed my preferences.

1. I romanced Ashley in my first playthrough, but in subsequent playthroughs, my preference became Liara.

2. I went with Tali ME2 as my preferred romance and thought that she probably would be my preferred romance in ME3 as well. I tried Miranda's and Jack's as well, but they didn't seem to appeal to me all that much.

3. Post-LotSB, my preferred romance has shifted back to Liara.

4. Why? In vanilla ME2, Liara maintained that same iron glare at Shepard and spoke in a monotonous manner about her life. Of course, things were being recorded on Illium and all, but why could she have taken Shepard aside and talked more freely? It was as if she no longer trusted the man who once made love to her. Her cold demeanor drove me towards Tali as ME2 progressed.

But, in LotSB, I finally understood Liara's motivations. Her character was still intact, but she has definitely matured, demonstrating a degree of character development. And finally, the dialogue between the two cracked me up - it was like seeing two warring spouses coming back together again. And for me, that was what gave Liara's romance the depth that Tali's lacked - there was conflict, resolution, and finally, a sign of affection.

If I can, I will romance Liara again in ME3. Even if she isn't a squadmember.

4. I'm actually going to do a liara playthrough. The dlc seriously improved her image. I was completely indifferent towards her before, but now I think she's pretty cool.

Thanks XX55XX for that, I appreciate it!

I was kind of sad at what the vanilla Liara writing did for her character in the eyes of others and it is good to see that She is being shone in a much brighter light. Thanks for your honesty!

No problem, DeltaBoy. I just wished BioWare had included LotSB in the full game.

Tali still has a place in my heart, but she has a "sisterly" quality to her now.

Liara fans reunite!

If you had a romance in ME 1, then you can keep it after shadow broker DLC. Once you finish DLC, you can invite her in your cabin of Normandy. Then have conversation about relationship, and will hug, kiss with her in the end. That's all. Don't expect too much. There is one thing that I really want. Every time when I go to shadow broker base to meet her, she doesn't have more conversation anymore. I hope that Bioware could make it more. But well, overall DLC quality is exceeded my expectation. So it's ok.

Well, you can say about any romance in the game. The writing is a little sparse here and there, but how much can it progress after the love scene?

For my current playthrough I went for nobody. In my second playthrough I went to garrus. I'm most likely going to stick to him and see what happens. At first I kind of thought she was bit bland before the dlc came out, now I am starting to like her a lot more then I did before.

My only hope is that your squadmates and LIs don't stay mute for the entire freaking DLC or ME3.

1. No one.

2. Garrus.

3. Garrus.

4. Although it didn't persuade me to want to romance her in a new playthrough, it DID change my perspective on her.  In ME1, while I didn't hate her, I didn't particularly like her.  ME2, pre-DLC, I was alright with Liara.  I appreciated the sacrifices she made to save Shepard; I appreciate that kind of loyalty. Post-DLC, I have to admit that I'm more fond of Liara.  I would never want to romance her character, but I would gladly have her as a friend of my Shepard.

1) Liara was the first person I romanced in ME1 although it was half accidental
4) I didnt like Liara at all in ME1 I thought she was boring and too childlike. Since LOTSB however I've come to like her character, much more mature and interesting. And alot prettier too

I still prefer the other two ME1 romances over Liara though, I only romanced her the once.

I had a no romance playthrough I used for Tali and Miranda and a Liara playthrough that I put on hold until LotSB convinced me to import it.

1. Ashley (but I didn't import that to ME2)

2. Tali

3. Tali

Although I think on my ME3 import I'm going to not romance Tali, or anyone, for that matter.

1. Liara

2. Miranda- basically just for the heck of it after getting the cold shoulder from Liara.

3. Back to Liara - I'm hopeful there will be the option to continue the renewed romance in ME3.

Liara was my only romance in ME1. Tali and Ashley are cool, but she was the only one that really interested me personally. Seems that interest payed off in the new DLC. I'm looking forward to seeing her story develop further.

1. Ashley.

2. N/A (Loyal)

3. Ashley. (Can't start Liara romance, I believe. :P)

4. It made me view her more as somebody who is responsible and strong instead of weak and to be saved at every moment. I didn't like her in ME1 and ME2 but grew to like her more in LOTSB (the banter helped).

The Shep I used for my insanity run:

1) ME1: Romanced Ash

2) ME2: Stayed true to Ash

3) Still with Ash

4) don't intend on screwing that up for this playthrough, as it will be my first import into ME3, hoping that Ash is a companion again. Though shadow broker was well done I'm still not going to go against Ash with this Shep. If i get bored i'll play as my other Shep who originally went with Liara and then cheated on her with every woman on the Normandy. She is a great character and has developed a lot which i like, but if i am going to shag and Alien its going to be Tali.

I wonder what will happen in ME3 if you romance Liara, then cheat on her, then cheat on someone else with her.

1. Who did you first go for in ME1
A: In my first Playthrough it was Kaiden with my Female.. Regret it horribly because he's the worst character of the series.
2nd Playthrough I'm working on Liara
2. Who did you go for in ME2 (if not remaining loyal to ME1 LI)
A: Femshep went with Jacob as anything is better than boring Kaiden lol

3. Post LotSB, who have you chosen? or remained faithful to?
A: With my first playthrough I wasn't really planning anything as I was just enjoying the story my choices for romance was mostly based around who was there first lol.
my 2nd playthrough my Male shepard I'm being more careful as I'm Roleplaying him more this time around..  He's a racist womanizer whose only playing nice to Liara to get in bed with her.  I can't promise I'll stay faithful to her this playthrough and I'm not gonna let this DLC change my plans now.
Lastly

4. If the LotSB changed you to prefer Liara, why? specifics please.
A.: it made me like the character more but I'm not in any rush to permanently romance her... Maybe in my 3rd playthrough.

5. If you romanced no one initially, did you decide to go for Liara after the LotSB?
A:  No my 2nd playthrough was romancing (I use the word loosely with this guy lol) her before I played the DLC
BioWare has done a wonderful job on the story of the LotSB and I just want to see who regrets cheating and who still wants to stick with their initial romance.

I can understand the attraction to Tali, but Miranda? She's attractive but Shepard barely knows her. And Jack? While my Paragon Shepard likes to make her feel comfortable on the Normandy, it seemed like just being polite to her resulted in her being all like "ARE YOU HITTING ON ME? DO YOU WANT TO DO ME YES/NO. DON'T WASTE MY TIME". Wasn't handled very well, unless they wanted to prove to you how messed up she is from her unfortunate upbringing.

The DLC's interchanges between Shepard and Liara were excellent. I loved Shepard's paragon triggers after defeating Vasir. As well as Liara being realistic about their future and the upcoming Reaper showdown, but trusting in you anyway.
