I ask for a fighting chance, so that it actually gives and creates some meaning to their relation and post-life, and not a happily-ever-after romance that you see in Disney's work which is soooo cheesy and cheap.
While most of what you said was exactly how I felt, here I must disagree. What I absolutely require is a happily ever after. Of course it's gonna be a long and hard road to get there, something you have to fight for to receive... but once the reapers are taken care of, once you've handled yourself in a similar manner as in ME2 where you really do have to work for it to actually survive the end nevermind survive it with minimal losses, then Shepard and Liara deserve a happily ever after. Especially now due to the duration of the romance and the events and feelings of LotSB, the LAST thing I want to see in the end of ME3 is some DAO style epilogue along the lines of "they lived together for at time, but eventually drifted apart" or whatever. There's no goddamn way that's gonna happen to my Shep and Liara.
Point being, Shepard and Liara have the chance to be the greatest, most enduring and detailed, longest-span romance ever created in a videogame. Something truly memorable. And I want that, I really do. If avoiding the "gotcha!" moments is important as the devs said during the development of DAO, then ruining this romance here to whatever excuse of killing off Liara or Shep, or just ruining their bond for each other during ME3 would be the greatest and most destructive "gotcha!" ever made. Slightly melodramatic here, I know, but you get the point I'm sure. That would be like 3 games worth of emotional bonding, effort and hope, flushed down the drain.
It's a shame that the same effort at least for now has not gone into the Ashley / Kaidan romance thing, and especially what with almost any toon save for liara being potentially dead for ME3 as well, it speaks for grim chances for the ME2 romance fans (with the exception of Miri who can't die as I understand it) too. Liara is the only character since ME1 that is popular AND cannot die, so it makes sense to put effort into her character. But With the almost dozen romance options for ME2, I really can't see them playing a major role in ME3. I would hope they do, but the realities of budget and time being what they are, it does not seem likely.
couldn't have put it better myself, i'll be heartbroken if there isn't an option to live happily ever after lol. But it doesn't have to be canon, since this is of course mass effect, you can make choices. I just hope that this ending is possible.

1: Ashley
2: Ashley
3: Ashley
Ray
1: Ashley
2: Miranda
3: Miranda
Lee
1: Liara
2: Liara
3: Liara
4: Liara is much more awesome now, she is independant, emits an aura of confidence and loyalty and she showed that she has the same determination as Shepard and Garrus.

i will just say this if Miranda is not in the ME 3 Squad and i do not get to keep my romance with her going in 3 well then there will be hell to pay as far as in game goes and Liara will feel my wrath

Well as said, Miri can't die unless the whole mission fails and Sheps dies too, in which case there will be no ME3. So the two absolute constants in ME3 are Liara and Miri. Which - also as said - is a shame for those who happen to romance one of the numerous male alternatives.
Truthfully it seems unlikely that Liara as the new SB would be a party companion for most of ME3, but I fully believe Miranda will be there. It wouldn't make sense to set her up in this way, especially what with the others being far less likely options since they can die, and considering the fact that any good story needs incentive and something familiar to carry through. Simply from a story-telling viewpoint NOT using Miranda would be just plain idiotic, and idiotic isn't something BW is prone to having in their storytelling dictionary. So I'm 99.999% sure you can rest easy knowing Miri will definitely be joining us in ME3, likely as a full-fledged companion even.

Personally I'm guessing that from ME2 Garrus, Grunt, Jacob, Legion, and Mordin will be. And before you get start. Mordin isn't fifty he's around thirty two so he won't be too old.
Thane, Samara, Kasumi, and Zaeed all have reasons to be some where else.

I'm pretty sure Miri will be in ME3 but I'm not sure she'll be a squad mate. I just have a feeling she'll end having to be put into a role that's more important then running around with Shepard ground side. She'll still be important just in a different role. My preference would be leading Cerberus since I don't trust TIM.

the she better get the Liara treatment for us that romanced her in ME 3

2. William Shep: upgraded to Miranda // Sakura Shep: Faithful to Liara
3. William Shep: Faithful to Miranda (unlessKasumi becomes availabe in ME3
4. When LotSB was announced and revealed that Shep could continue her relationship with Liara, I actually replayed the suicide mission (and all the following DLC), and made sure not to talk to Kelly post-mission. Did it so I could avoid "Inviting Kelly up", just in case that scenario = me cheating on Liara. (BTW, does Liara comment on Kelly at all? If you had that "fling" with her?)
Either way, Liara's romance is hands-down the best written one so far. Sakura Shepard is very happy she waited.

WRONG lol. I have one playthrough where Miranda was the only one who did die...and one where she and Jacob died. Bye bye Cerberus crew. She only has plot immunity through the first 2 parts of the suicide mission, after that she can die as easily as anyone else. Can't believe there are still ppl on these forums who don't know that.

4. I liked Liara in ME, now I still like her, however she has changed a lot. But still I prefer Tali.

2. On my first playthrough of the character who romanced Liara, Tali. It was my first playthrough and I was ecstatic about romancing Tali!
3. On my second playthrough of my Vanguard, I chose Liara instead of Tali. (I am going to romance Tali on my soldier instead)
4. Because of the focus of 'continuing your romance with Liara', and the fact the only other female character I liked was Jack. I liked Jack's romance, a LOT, but I decided to go with Ashley/Tali/Liara. After the DLC, I was especially glad I made this decision.
5. This doesn't really apply here, but I already have my romances on all 6 characters planned out. Ashley/Tali/Liara/Thane/Garrus/Kaiden. I didn't have any that purposely didn't have a romance that suddenly changed to Liara.

2. With my canon shepard i stayed loyal to liara, but with other shepards i wanted to see the other romance so i tried out most of them (Tali, Garrus, Miranda, Kelly)
3. I stayed loyal to liara with my canon shepard and i was glad to see that the wait was worth it, as the dlc was extremely good.
4 and 5. not applicable.

I found it a bit entertianing to roll through some of the posts that suggested they couldn't wait for their Shepard to make a B-line to their ME2 Li --- and then find a way to push them through the air lock before anyone on their SR2 noticed that they've been spaced for a Liara/Shepard union because of the DLC. lol. C'mon --- how funny is that?
" Oh (Miranda, Tali, Jack )...you are...uhhh... your nothing. Go away. Out. Split --- I have work to do..."
( An hour later)
"...so...Liara...how you doin..." ( 70's music starts to play in the background).
It looks like the Love Ship is a cooooold cooooold place in the ME world!
It would be interesting to see the flash mob suddenly rip off their Pro-Liara T-Shirts and pointy hats and balloons for Ashley/Kaiden if they made a DLC for them that was equal in its quality? I would wager to say that the same pheonomena would happen. In the end this Soap Opera stuff that has made countless boards locked down and some members literealy thrown out due to their Fan Boy/ Fan Girlism was all for naught at the end of the day as the schemes started to roll in with thoughts like...
" Gee I wonder how I can kill/cheat on my li! Woo Hoo! Blue Heaven --- here I come!"
I sense some internal fan jelousey. They saw a Pro-Liara fan service provided by Bio Ware which was very well done and made them like the characters.... and now their waiting for their own piece of ME Fillet Minion.
In this case, I donno... if I were the Dev... I would have released a 2-fer for both. Lair of the Shadow Broker and what ever else the name would be for the Ashley/Kaiden senario...and the reason why I say that is because it almost proves at the moment that ME1 did indeed force Liara on the player to choose her for the plot.
I myself thought they did so... there was far more ways to kill the route to Ashley than Liara in ME1.
I just don't think its worth this in-fighting at the end of the day seeming how folks jumped ship so fast.
Interesting observation however.
That is simply false. Many of us are fans of Liara from the beginning who were just turned off by her behavior in ME2 and ran off to find another LI. But, with this DLC, our interest in Liara has simply been revived. There is no conspiracy whatsoever. I don't know about you, but many of us are not bandwagon Liara fans. We've been fans of her since the first game.
