On my main Shepard I romanced Ashley and remained loyal to her in ME2.
I would however be lying if I said the LoTSB DLC didn't make me at least consider switching to Liara. It was really well done. Does anyone know if the post final battle scene involving the kiss occurs to Shepards who didn't romance her in the first game? Cause that part was so well done that I'm hoping to see it again on my main.
Here's to hoping an Ashley/Kaiden DLC of equal quality is on the way!

- 95% of my playthroughs romanced Liara in ME1. I did one playthrough for Kaidan and one for Ashley, as well as a couple non-LI playthroughs for ME2 LIs.
- If my character romanced someone in ME1, they remained loyal. I have made Tali and Garrus LI playthroughs as well.
- Liara is and will always be my canon LI, even the "grimdark un-Liara" of vanilla ME2. However, I do have characters that have romanced (or will romance) other people; they will remain loyal to that person regardless of LotSB.

First of all, this is NOT intended to start any flame wars and I humbly and sincerely ask that you who reply keep this on topic. I am just curious who has come to prefer Liara as a romance option as a result of the DLC. After seeing the change in her and how well her character has evolved. So these are my questions
1. Who did you first go for in ME1
Liara, I only played one time with romances with Ash and Kaiden each.
2. Who did you go for in ME2 (if not remaining loyal to ME1 LI)
My 3 Male Shepards went with all 3 of the various LIs (my first one went with Miranda, my second one with Tali, and my third, who was a renegade went Jack), my females tend to remain loyal to Liara, if they do stray it usually with Garrus, Samara, and/or Kelly.
3. Post LotSB, who have you chosen? or remained faithful to?
My first two Shepards that I've played LotSB have chosen to be with Liara. Most likely my current one will as well.
Lastly
4. If the LotSB changed you to prefer Liara, why? specifics please.
Not really, I always preferred Liara anyway, If anything I feel it gives my Shepards EVEN more an incentive to stop the Reapers so she (97% of my Shepards are female) can be with the love of her life.
5. If you romanced no one initially, did you decide to go for Liara after the LotSB?
I would have choosen to be with Liara, reguardless. She's by far my favorite Mass Effect character.
BioWare has done a wonderful job on the story of the LotSB and I just want to see who regrets cheating and who still wants to stick with their initial romance.
Again, I am not trying to start any negativity, I just genuinely want to see what people think and if this DLC has changed you.
I do understand that I am going to mostly attract the diehard other romancees first and foremost, but I am hoping some of the people I know who jumped ship will tell of the wonderful character Liara is as a result of the wonderful writing of BioWare.
To OP:-
1. Liara
2. Stayed faithful.
3. Liara.
I love her. As for the personality change your asking about, I never had a problem with it. People can change drastically in real life, I see no problem with Liara being like she is. To me she is still the same person and it never annoyed me in the least.
I love Kasumi too, and would have liked an LI option. But in the end I would have been faithful to Liara.
(I have tried other LI's in different play throughs though, but my main - definative shepard is with Liara).

Me too. I mean I played all the different LIs in both games and it never felt right for me to be with Ash, Kaiden, Garrus, Tali, Jack, Miranda, Thane, or Jacob.
If there had be serious romances with Samara, Kelly, and Kusami since they're only characters that my Shepard would even have interest in.

2. Stayed faithful.
3. Stayed faithful to Liara - my Shepard now considers herself in an active relationship.
It's unlikely that I would have romanced Liara in the second game had I not done so in the first - her apparent personality shift was rather jarring. But I played Shepard as being deeply in love with Liara. She wanted the woman she loved back, and she was willing to do what it took to find her. She has found her.

So even if I moved on from Liara, or Ash in ME2 I don't consider it cheating. Now inviting Liara up for a booty call post Lair while still in a relationship with Tali I would consider such.

I found it a bit entertianing to roll through some of the posts that suggested they couldn't wait for their Shepard to make a B-line to their ME2 Li --- and then find a way to push them through the air lock before anyone on their SR2 noticed that they've been spaced for a Liara/Shepard union because of the DLC. lol. C'mon --- how funny is that?
" Oh (Miranda, Tali, Jack )...you are...uhhh... your nothing. Go away. Out. Split --- I have work to do..."
( An hour later)
"...so...Liara...how you doin..." ( 70's music starts to play in the background).
It looks like the Love Ship is a cooooold cooooold place in the ME world!
It would be interesting to see the flash mob suddenly rip off their Pro-Liara T-Shirts and pointy hats and balloons for Ashley/Kaiden if they made a DLC for them that was equal in its quality? I would wager to say that the same pheonomena would happen. In the end this Soap Opera stuff that has made countless boards locked down and some members literealy thrown out due to their Fan Boy/ Fan Girlism was all for naught at the end of the day as the schemes started to roll in with thoughts like...
" Gee I wonder how I can kill/cheat on my li! Woo Hoo! Blue Heaven --- here I come!"
I sense some internal fan jelousey. They saw a Pro-Liara fan service provided by Bio Ware which was very well done and made them like the characters.... and now their waiting for their own piece of ME Fillet Minion.
In this case, I donno... if I were the Dev... I would have released a 2-fer for both. Lair of the Shadow Broker and what ever else the name would be for the Ashley/Kaiden senario...and the reason why I say that is because it almost proves at the moment that ME1 did indeed force Liara on the player to choose her for the plot.
I myself thought they did so... there was far more ways to kill the route to Ashley than Liara in ME1.
I just don't think its worth this in-fighting at the end of the day seeming how folks jumped ship so fast.
Interesting observation however.
That is simply false. Many of us are fans of Liara from the beginning who were just turned off by her behavior in ME2 and ran off to find another LI. But, with this DLC, our interest in Liara has simply been revived. There is no conspiracy whatsoever. I don't know about you, but many of us are not bandwagon Liara fans. We've been fans of her since the first game.
Exactly, I am one of them. So MrnDvlDg161 you are wrong.
Notice I said those that I have observed. So therefore if you two were not one of them --- then that wouldn't pretain to you --- Respectfully of course. But you can find the posts I'm talking about quite easy, its not like I made them up! Neither did I imply a conspiracy.

I agree that she has become more of a character with an impact - emotional and plot-wise - by LotSB, and all-in-all much more interesting. She's now firmly on the second place for maleShep LIs after Miranda. I still prefer a platonic relationship with her because of the general silliness of the concept of inter-species romance (but you knew I'd say that)

First playthrough, i romanced ashley by accident. it's almost impossible not to she's hits on you unabashedly and you have to like remind her that you're her commanding officer but then that closes any additional dialogue options. i just wanted to be friends. i tried romancing tali before, but then i looked it up and realized i couldn't so romanced no one. that was my import file. i romanced liara for the sake of it in the wake of the LotSB announcement but never imported.. just not into her like that.
2. Who did you go for in ME2 (if not remaining loyal to ME1 LI)
Tali
3. Post LotSB, who have you chosen? or remained faithful to?
Tali
4. If the LotSB changed you to prefer Liara, why? specifics please.
I like liara way more now.. she's much less boring. and i felt really bad for saying "that's not a good idea liara. let's try to keep this professional" considering she brought shep back from the dead. but i didn't want to give the wrong idea.
5. If you romanced no one initially, did you decide to go for Liara after the LotSB?
no. i'll stick with tali. if the writers come up manage to come up with someone better than tali.. idk how. but hypothetically, i'd leave her.
in general, i have a lot of difficultly getting through what-if files because i feel like i'm not making the decisions i want and i feel weird and it breaks immersion so i'll probably never romance liara

Kaidan
2. Who did you go for in ME2 (if not remaining loyal to ME1 LI)
Stayed faithful to Kaidan....still longing for a reunion.
3. Post LotSB, who have you chosen? or remained faithful to?
My Shep is still in love with Kaidan. Very happy to see Liara though and glad to have the friendship renewed. I really like Liara. I never had the Kaidan/ Shepard/ Liara love triangle happen; my Shep has always clear about her friendly feelings for Liara and her romantic feelings for Kaidan. No stringing anyone along.
Lastly
4. If the LotSB changed you to prefer Liara, why? specifics please. N/A
5. If you romanced no one initially, did you decide to go for Liara after the LotSB? N/A
In short--it's great to have Liara back.

Well as said, Miri can't die unless the whole mission fails and Sheps dies too, in which case there will be no ME3. So the two absolute constants in ME3 are Liara and Miri. Which - also as said - is a shame for those who happen to romance one of the numerous male alternatives.
Truthfully it seems unlikely that Liara as the new SB would be a party companion for most of ME3, but I fully believe Miranda will be there. It wouldn't make sense to set her up in this way, especially what with the others being far less likely options since they can die, and considering the fact that any good story needs incentive and something familiar to carry through. Simply from a story-telling viewpoint NOT using Miranda would be just plain idiotic, and idiotic isn't something BW is prone to having in their storytelling dictionary. So I'm 99.999% sure you can rest easy knowing Miri will definitely be joining us in ME3, likely as a full-fledged companion even.
That is 100% false, my very first playthrough on ME2 Jack and Miranda, by accident, were my only casualties.

4. Liara has changed. I have no real preference for her before or after personalities. But I do like how she has grown over the last "2 years Ive been dead." And its nice seeing a "familiar" face from the last game.
5. I only romance Tali.

So my first playthrough I cheated on Liara with Tali on my imported Shepard. Since that didn't sit right with me, either, I did a new playthrough of ME1 with a new Shepard, so I could have a "clean" romance in ME2, which is now my "canon" Shepard ( and also a Vanguard, which is so much more fun to play than a Soldier ^^ ).

main Shepard: none
but I tried both Ashley (once) and Liara (multiple times) romances with other Shepards
2. Who did you go for in ME2 (if not remaining loyal to ME1 LI)
main Shepard: Miranda
Shepard no.2 - faithful to Liara
other Shepards - none
Tali and Jack - never

main Shepard - Miranda
Shepard no.2 - faithful to Liara
other Sheps - none

Answer 1: Liara.
Why?: Brilliant, honest and a little nerdy. Totally my type.
Question 2: Who did you go for in ME2 (if not remaining loyal to ME1 LI)?
Answer 2: Miranda.
Why: I relate to Miranda's stoicism and she's damn hot; but her romance feels more like a fling than a love story.
Question 3: Post LotSB, who have you chosen? or remained faithful to?
Answer 3: Liara.
Why?: I hate what Bioware did to Liara in ME2 and I don't like the direction they're taking her character; but her romance scenes in LOTSB reminded me why I loved her character so much in ME1. While most of the other romances come off feeling like a lot of flirting topped off by a fling, Liara's romance in ME1 and in LOTSB feels like a love story.
PS: I did one playthrough where I ended up romancing Ashley in ME1 and one where I romanced Tali in ME2; but in most playthroughs Liara and Miranda win the day.

As KainrycKarr has stated, the above comment is wrong. Miranda is only 'unkillable' up until the last stage of the Suicide Mission. At the last stage she moves way up the list of potential casualties (go see Ecael's mission guide that is stickied in this forum).
So the only constant out of the previous squadmates going into ME3 is Liara, although, I do have to wonder what would happen if you don't help her at all in ME2 with either her own initial vanilla missions or the DLC itself.
To answer the initial questions, I'll just go with my main Paragon MaleShep and Renegade FemShep who I played through both ME and ME2 as well as a Renegade FemShep ME1 save that I got from the MEsaves site that I played in ME2.
MaleShep
1: Romanced Liara
2: Remained loyal
3: Liara obviously
4: Not played it yet myself but have seen footage of it and it hasn't changed my opinion at all, because I already had faith unlike some 'Liara-manics' that things would be alright...
5: Considering we don't know anything about ME3 and whether we'll get another chance to romance, I think this question is a bit presumptious that the opportunity will be there. Though I imagine it will, so to answer the question properly, no because I already have this Shep with her.
FemShep (own one that I played in ME)
1: No one
2: Garrus
3: Still with Garrus because this Shep isn't doing the Liara DLC (she don't like Liara and left getting her in ME till after Virmire)
FemShep (Save file I used)
1: Liara
2: Cheated on Liara with Thane but he died during Suicide Mission
3: Looking forward to seeing if Liara mentions anything about Thane when do the DLC post-suicide. Going to try reconcile any issues and get back with Liara
