So after an epic fight against a powerful wizard, I turn back and my gaze meets the one of the end boss. He's standing there, watching the scene with a couple of friends from the animal kingdom. He also seems to have made some modifications to his "weapon of choice"... either that, or it's lunchtime already in the Anvil of Time:

Cyrus (on the far left) looks like he's trying to contain a laugh, his face reminds me of this other one.

You don't want to get between a death knight and his soup.

I think he got confused with the hour when I manipulated all those clocks in his fortress.

Anyway, I've posted on both Edinmoor topics on the Nexus. I've included some pics of my party members but I don't know how the hell to make links work there, so you'll probably have to copy/paste them.

The wizard was pretty easy actually, he got no buffs and went down in a few seconds. His friends took a bit longer (enough for Lord Edinmoor to hear the noises and leave the throne room), but they weren't that hard either.

I didn't use the PIA, though.

note to Dora: consider about using a "SpawnScript" to insta-buff casters. they're pretty easy to write ...

What I want to know is, how did Edinmoor end up wielding Longaround?!!

That is some strange glitch, I'll tell ya.

kevL, I'm sorry you missed that battle. It was of course, a silly homage to some villains who make appearances in the Gold Box games, Yarash, Tyranthraxxus and Moander. But there was a choice of a reward once they were defeated.

Arkalezth, he might not have had buffs, but that wizard was much higher level than anyone in the party. I'm impressed you dispatched him so easily. Heh, kevL... I just saw your note about insta-buffing casters, as well as Tchos' tip. Will do!

Or you can activate the fast buff caster flag with the bitwise variable on the NPC that you want to buff itself.  I use this:
NW_GENERIC_MASTER = 67108864

Thanks, will try. Edit: Fixed.

The wizard... well, he got surrounded by a bunch of heavily armed guys. He might be high level but still has wizard's HP. I was buffed myself, so that helps, but not to the max (I mostly ignored buffs with my wizard and focused on control/damage spells).

No idea of what made Edinmoor take the spoon. The battle against the wizard made him summon a rat and come to the back room, but why he dropped his sword for the spoon on his way, I don't know.

I tried reloading a couple more times but the same happened, so I just went ahead and fought him like that. I guess that made the fight easier, but since I already had completed the module "legally", and I didn't feel like reloading again, the spoon had to do.

I suppose I could have avoided  the bug by facing Edinmoor first, and the wizard afterwards. That prevents you from using the best available weapon in the boss fight, but it should be bug-free.

I think i know what Edinmoor is doing. His feats are set up to use a longsword. But he has a bastard sword. Since he doesn't have Weapon Proficiency (exotic) he equips the Spirit of Edinmoor instead, which is baseitem spoon .......

Now I am truly perplexed, and anxious to open the toolset and see what is going on.

This was a standard creature blueprint I placed down. I didn't make any changes to the feat selection, as far as I know. And I think it uses the specific creature weapon that it starts with.

It does appear he switched to the Spirit of Edinmoor, which has a spoon as the base item. But I cannot figure out what triggered the equipment swap.

I was looking over all those monsters, and came to the conclusion Don't trust the standard blueprints. the dragonmen, for example, have ancient henchman scripts assigned to their event slots & should be using the 'nw_c2_default*' scripts. Edinmoor, like i said, has a great bastard sword but as far as I can tell won't actually equip it unless his feats are changed. It gets me curious if anyone has fought the dark Lord w/ his Sword!

i got the impression you were relying on defaults: this is NwN2 dognabbit!!! ;)

I finally got around to addressing the embarrassing error about a certain spoon-wielding creature.

Went into the properties and added the required Exotic Weapon proficiency, as well as appropriate weapon focus, specialization and improved critical feats. This probably makes him deadlier. Good.

Thanks kevL and Arkalezth.

Also switched the default perception on a number of enemies on that level to a short range. I thought I had done that initially, and it is certainly something I have been doing in designing encounters since then.

This updated module also has a few conversations re-worked so that returning after the final battle does not close out unfinished quests. It doesn't appear I broke anything.

The new updated .mod is uploaded as a separate file at the Nexus here:

Edinmoor at Nexus

I'm not clear on how to actually update exisiting files at the Nexus. The only thing I could see would be to delete the entire old version, and upload the new. But that would lose all the download counts and such, right?

Anyway, the orginal version still needs to be grabbed for the campaign file and haks.

Not sure I will update at the Vault due to the present situation and the file size limitation.

As far as the current project I have been working on, I came down with a case of writer's block. And most of what is left for me to do is writing. Not good. But I think I am feeling inspired again, so I am trying to get back on track for a release by the end of this year.

Harumph!

Good show Dorateen.

Rolo Kipp contacted me by email the other day so things might be moving on the vault again.

The total download count for the mod remains the same if you delete a file. The download count for the new file will of course start at 0, but your total downloads will start at 62 unique, 72 total as they are now.

If you want to keep it around anyway, then I'd suggest changing its category to "old versions". Is the new file a patch, and not the entire file, replaced? If you still need both files, then don't put it in old versions.

Thanks, PJ. I'm glad to hear that. Now then I just have to repackage the new .mod with the other files and send a ftp request.

Rolo is convinced the Vault is borked and is setting up and emergency preservation project, so no.

Indeed and I think the dwarven nation would be giving you an axe or whatever dwarves give for recognition of endurance.

Or maybe a golden flagon and beard trimmer ( or is that the axe ) ! .

Ha! Completely missed this from last week.

It is indeed an honour just to be nominated. A golden flagon would do.

Thank you!
