I am really sorry to ask this... (Romance Query)

I had to get the PC version of ME1 and play through again, but wanted to use said scene to branch out so I had multiple romantic options (one being with Ashley, one being with Liara). I just cannot seem to get that scene to come up after Noveria and Feros.
I am trying to avoid playing from Noveria ALL THE WAY Through Virmire two or three times to see which person is going to show up for lockdown. I never have run into this problem before. I just assumed if you are friendly to both, you get that scene. Is there a specific walk through somewhere that tells you how to get to that scene?
Thanks!

Apparently, when Ashley asks you about Liara, you tell her it's nothing. But if Liara asks you about Ashley, you tell Liara that Ash is special to you. You also tell Liara that she is also special to you. After that, you don't talk to either of them until the confrontation scene shows up after the debriefing of the third main mission.
Well, I restarted right after Therum and recruiting Liara. And did what you suggested. I must be missing something. I did not see the option of telling Ashley that Liara means nothing. Only thing I saw was the scuttlebug about Liara and I and the option of "Liara? - Why's that? - You're out of line." So after completing Noveria and then Feros, I still did not get this confrontation scene.
I was hoping not to download a save file or do the gibbed editor because I wanted to do it for myself. Eh, I do not know.
Thanks for your input though.

scene and failing when the general sentiment says that it's hard to
AVOID romancing the girls. I don't have any definitive information, but
in my experience it wasn't difficult to get this scene. I don't know
if I can help, but here's what I remember:
You need to have a number
of conversations with both. GameFAQs suggests three with Liara (3rd
being her worried that you take too much responsibility) and five with
Ash (5th being the Armistice Day drink), but I'm not sure that many is
necessary. I don't remember ever telling Ash that she was out of line.
The other options both seem more like a "no comment" to me, which is
basically what you want. When Liara asks about Ash, I BELIEVE you can
say either that she's special or that it's not like that, so long as you
tell Liara that you're interested.
It sounds like you've already done all that, but I can't think of what else the problem would be. In my experience Ash flirts fairly shamelessly; a good indicator that she IS considering you is if her sister calls you "cute" on the phone. If there's no active relationship she'll be talking about Kaidan. Liara is pretty straightforward; when she asks what you think of her, just tell her straight.
If none of that is working ... I'd have to think you hit a bug somewhere. As painful as that may be, you might have to go back before you talk to Ash right after Eden Prime. =/
edit: copy-pasting makes for funny formatting. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?
EDIT the second: I believe, if you get Liara asap and do enough sidequests and talk to them often enough, you can have THE TALK after your second plot world. And I hate to disagree with Pacifien, since he knows five times as much about these games as I do, but I don't think you have to stop talking with them after they ask about each other, and I would actually suggest you keep the conversations going.

The trickiest part of selecting the right dialogue is Shep says something different than what is actually shown beforehand.
Try either "Liara?" or "Why's that?" do not pick "You're out of line". If you have a save point before this, I would go with the "Liara?" line first. If that didn't work, try the second one. - One of the first two choices should be followed by a line that goes "the relationship is only professional" or something similar.
Edit: forgot a key part of answer.

Yeah, see, I would ALWAYS end up with that scene on my 360 version. Now on the PC, it just does not seem to exist. I know it has to be there, but I must be missing a dialogue option.

On my playthroughs on the PC, I am 99% sure I never got anything resembling "relationship is only professional' when speaking with Ashley about Liara. Actually the comment I get if I use the "Liara? or "Why's that" option is Ashley saying Liara is the only 'woman' on board and about fraternization, etc.
So some key things I have noticed:
- Ashley usually refers to me as Skipper instead of Commander.
- Her vid-mail from her sisters mentions me being cute.
- She asks to share a drink with me for Armistice day (although that could me romantic or friendship wise).

The key things you've noticed are all on track for romance with Ashley.
And yet, if I have that with Ashley but continue with Liara and tell her there is something between me and her, but also tell her that Ashley is special to me, I do not get confrontation scene.
And on this particular playthrough, I decided to play through Virmire (left Kaidan to die) and my shutdown scene right after the citadel is with Liara.
So if I am doing everything right with Ashley, how the heck am I getting Liara?
That's why I WANT the confrontation scene between the two of them because I can just branch the two paths from that point.

A couple of posts down someone goes through how they got the confrontation. Might be worth a try if you haven't done it that way already.

It's Funny. All this time replaying some of the scenes, I could have just finished the game with whoever love interest I had, and then just do a NG+ to get the other love interest. Especially considering the 2nd or 3rd playthroughs are much faster because of the carried over gear. Thanks for the link Ladyshara, I think that is going to help me. Hopefully will get the scene and then post a guide on how to get there.
