How many times have players created a custom Shep, then sometime during the Lazarus Base, decided that they don't like the look of him/her anymore? I know that I've done it countless times.
Judging by the stats posted Here, which show only about 50% of Sheps finish the game, I can guess that I'm not the only one.

The problem was because the large semi-cinematic intro, during which you chose your Shep's face, class, etc. It was so long, it felt like it took ten minutes just for you to see your Shep lying on the operationg table, and even longer after that before you see him/her in a talking scene (which for me is the defining moment on whether I've got a keeper).

For ME3, Bioware should use a feature they had for DA:O, and that is the Character Creator. However, even then it should include a scene to see the face move, talk and try different expressions, not just the basic looking up/down, sideways, in the current face generation.

Don't get me wrong; I LOVED the cinematic beginnings of both ME 1&2. They were awesome. Please don't change that, but have the CC as a seperate program that we can import faces we are satisfied with into the game. (ah-la the Dragon Age version).
Well, rant over, I suppose. :)

Cheers.

My biggest complaint was that you couldn't edit your imported characters and instead had to start from scratch. And because of the ME2 intro, a trial-and-error approach was way too time consuming

I don't mind the long intro and am happy to sit through it the first time but when it's the 5th time it gets a bit tedious. You should be able to skip it at least after watching it once. When creating later characters I generally just set it off and went to get a cuppa or watched tv for a while and came back.
