It is part of the plot for you to be required to have Sand and Shandra in your party during the trial. It is also part of the plot that you are only permitted to go to places to find evidence for the trial. After the combat, you are supposed to be sent back to the Sunken Flagon.
So all of those things are supposed to happen.
What are you trying to do when you get the statement "cant go corupt or mod to new version"?

The game gets corrupted loading areas sometimes. The events of the Trial and the events of the Arena combat were both pretty notorious for that. I hope you have a saved game somewhat recent.
When you do the trial over, try to go back to the Flagon right away instead of going to the Arena. Don't worry, it won't spoil anything. That way you'll be able to tell if the game is already screwed up. If not, save it again before you go to the temple for the trial.

On one of the loading screens, it says SAVE OFTEN AND SAVE IN DIFFERENT SLOTS.
Those are the truest words in the game.

unfortinitly i had 3 saves going and i had filled them all with saves starting after the trial so they all where bad i did not have that problem when i played through last year. sould i have been able to tell it was corupted when it did not let me take any other people but Sands and Shandra am i allowed to have more than 2 party members while doing the trial

So, am I the only one with about 50 save files plus dozen of quick-saves every time I enter a dungeon?
However, you can have a try with a software able to find deleted files. Just have it running on the system partition where the saves are, and maybe you'll be lucky enough to be able to restore an older save file!

Yes, it sounds like it was probably already screwed up. You can go to the trial with anyone. The game will then strip your party away and assign Sand and Shandra for the movie - and then restore your group when the trial's over.

how are you able to get more than one quick save.
On a side note i usually only keep 3 save files and a quick save

Here's one easy way to do that - after Quicksaving, alt-tab to the desktop where you have your Saves folder open in My Computer and rename the 000000 - quicksave folder; then alt-tab back to the game.

Well, I do have tons of save file. Plus when I enter a dungeon or a map with lots of combat, I usually use the quick save button several time. One after each combat step. After 2 or 3 of them (since they are overwritten), I do a normal save. Then again 3 or 4 quick save, then again a normal save (not over the previous one). When I finished the area, I simply delete the intermediate save files, so I don't have 5GB of save folder :-D
Is it clearer in this way? Sorry, the previous post was a bit too short :-P

When Act 2 starts, you've been accused of mass murder. Sand joins your party to help clear your name. Shandra is your free companion while you are mentoring her. (She is a decent fighter, but give her some gear to help with STR and DEX, and a couple of nice short swords.)
Until you spend the night in the Solace Glade and become a squire, you may not leave Neverwinter.
Once you are a squire, Nasher tells you that you may leave the City, but ONLY to collect evidence for the Trial. Sand MUST be with you as you visit the locations. He questions the witnesses, gives advice, and examines anything that might be evidence. You may also have other companions during this hunter-gathering phase, and you have a chance to learn some things and gain/lose influence.
Once the Trial begins, Sir Nevalle will escort you into the Courtroom, and you will be companioned by Sand as your lawyer and Shandra as your almost-squire. Nobody else will be in the dock with you. They aren't the one accused.
After the Trial, you are standing outside the palace and anybody who was with you when you talked to Sir Nevalle will now rejoin you. Full party again. However, your name has not yet been cleared and your travel options are limited.
You can go back to the Flagon or travel around, switch party members, talk to everybody, acquire (shop or craft) better weapons, lay in some potions or bandages or a ring of regeneration, whatever. Even though the game assumes that you go want to go straight to the temple to start the vigil, a bit of shopping on the way is also logical.
Much of the vigil and setup for combat is scripted, and dependent upon your own actions beforehand. The companions who offer assistance are selected because of your gender and influence and their own places in the plot. You might want to spend your last night with a orgy of elves, but that won't help you win the combat, and if you don't win, the world is doomed. Games can be hard-hearted like that.
I'm a frail drow (level-adjusted) wizard, but still preferred to do my own fighting rather than let any of the meat-brained men do it.
After combat, you should be back in the Flagon, and there should be 2 chests by the door: a gift from Nasher if you did well in the Trial and Lorne's falchion. At this point, your name is cleared and you are free to travel with your party. IIRC, a minion brings you a message....
BTW, I keep 30-40 saves, including special ones for shopping, crafting, opening booty, and especially before entering an area. Even if it isn't an area known for bugginess, sometimes I want to try different things or have different party members to see what the dialogue options are.
