Earlier today, a friend of mine told me that the ME2 collector's edition came with the game's OST. I was a little surprised, because I own the collector's edition and never noticed. So I went to check. No success. It's not on the bonus disk and it's not in the program files.
It's the 3-disk steelbook edition. Anyone know where I can find that music?

It should be in the mass effect 2 folder under program files, or at least for me its under Steam>SteamApps>Common>mass effect 2>bonus, also it might be on one of the three disks you have, try exploring them instead of autorunning?

It's only in the Digital Deluxe version, not the Collectors Edition. Digitale Deluxe owners got the artbook and comicbook as a PDF file so the soundtrack and the incisor sniper rifle were added as compensation. They only included part of the soundtrack.

Then my question is: Where can I purchase the full soundtrack for ME 2? (in fact, ME 1 also had a wonderful music score, so I'd like to purchase that one, as well)
Other than the regular channels / websites where you can buy music only I am wondering if there is a Bioware-solution to buy it (i.e. purchasing it for points if you can spare some).

Bioware sells CDs out of their store (the one with clothing and posters), but I'm not sure they accept Bioware points there (ironically enough). If you want a direct download you will need to go to someplace like Amazon or iTunes.
Though, note that even the album is not "complete." Most of the stuff you'd actually want is there, but there's simply not enough room on a CD, maybe not even on 2, for all the music in a ME game.
