About the Project: The "Legacy of Blood" is (well, will be
A brief plot synopsis:
Without any apparent provocation and without anyone having any idea who or what the enemy is, a monstrous army attacks the Country (we don't want to give names, at the moment, mainly because they're subject to
changes) with extreme military precision. Leading the army is an undead Knight of immense power who spreads mayhem on the battlefield but who claims is fighting in the name of his Mistress. The war begins with a sudden strike that catches the Country's forces unprepared and the second biggest city falls on the first attack. With the help of a blind man claiming to be a seer, the Player (possibly restricted to human), a descendant of a Hero of the Country, is given the quest to discover the origins of the Knight, his Mistress and the army itself and help the Country defeat this enemy. In the backround, backstabbing plots and well planned moves that create political turmoil imply that this sudden strike may not have been a surprise for everyone in the Country, while clerics around the world sense great disturbance in the Heavens...
In its core, I guess the plot seems rather simple but I promise you that the backround is a lot more complicated, with several plot twists awaiting the player. We don't want the module to be "a hack and slash with a plot illusion", as a co-producer said, but want to move closer to the dialogue and gameplay of games like Knights of the Old Republic or Planescape: Torment. The plot and dialogues are getting immense attention (which is why we're carefull about anything we reveal at this stage) and we want to add voice to at least all the main characters of the module (party members, major NPCs, most quest givers).
Positions to be filled are:
- One 3D Modelling Artist*
- Two Programmers ("Scripters")*
- Two Cinematic Designers*
- One Writer**
- One Area/Level Designer*
- One Character Designer*
- One Animation Artist*
- Voice Actors***
* Applicants are expected to know their way around the Toolset, at least in their respective areas of expertise. Understanding of other departments needs and possibilities helps to a smoother cooperation and production.
** While the creative part is the most essential, familiarity with the use of the toolset's specific tools (plot flags etc.) will be a point to be considered in the application.
***Exact number and roles to be announced at a later date. Send your application for later consideration. Please note that, due to the nature of the cooperation, we cannot help with recording and must be done solely by you. While we don't expect you to have or rent a studio, the quality of sound will play a role upon review of the application.
Those interested, please contact me via PM on this community site (putting a note here wouldn't hurt either, helps keep the thread alive!). While we don't expect applicants to send a complete CV, please include samples of your work and some information about your self (age, location, perhaps interests). Think of it as practice for formal cover letters
Please keep in mind that this is an amateur project, not aiming at any kind of profit but the joy of creating, in essence, a small game for the community. We do believe, however, that once the project is finished, it will be a jewel in your career CV!!! This also means that we won't push anyone for deadlines, as we understand that this will be a side-project for most, if not all of you, as it is for us. We are, however, determined to see this through and some reasonable milestone dates will be given.
Last but in no way least, we want to make sure you understand that, regardless of your position, this project will be completed through cooperation and teamwork and such qualities will be looked for in your application. Your opinion will be sought after and will count during production, especially when it comes to your area of expertise.
About Team "Black Swan": First, allow me to clarify one thing: there is nothing really official about "Black Swan". The Team was loosely founded when, along with several artists and programmers, I made funky dreams/plans of creating my own gaming studio. While this dream isn't dead, the more realistic approach was to start with a module and see if we're up for the task. The name is based on one of the setting's characters' nickname. While most of the members live in Greece, there is no "base of operations" or anything of the sort, as some "members" live in Norway, Finland and the UK.
Currently the Team is composed by two Concept Artists, one Animation Artist and 3D Designer, two Writers and two Programmers. With your participation, this list will grow!
As I mentioned before most of us are currently working, so this will be at least as much as a "side-project" for us, as it will be for you. We are, however, all interested in making the gaming industry our professional lives, although we realized that, while we wait for applications to be reviewed and positions to be opened, we should pursuit our dreams of making games and good stories through other means. If nothing else, we'll have fun doing what we love.
