According to the wiki, the iron golem has something like 10/adamantine damage reduction. I read that as it can only be hit by adamantine weapons. However, I'm pretty sure all my melee characters did damage without adamantine weapons. So, does x/adamantine mean that only the physical damage is resisted, but any fire/electrical/acid/whatever damage still hit it? It took a while for my melee classes to bring one down, but they did it.
I'm trying to figure out if I need to cook up a adamantine weapon for dealing with one of these more quickly. Note I have not finished the original campaign. So please only comment on the technical aspects.
Thanks.

10/adamantine damage means that the first 10 hp of damage dealt to the golem will be absorbed unless you are using an adamantine weapon, in which case, no damage will be absorbed.
For example, if Khelgar is using a non-adamantine weapon and hits the golem for 24 HP damage, 10 would be absorbed for a total of 14 hp of actual damage done to the golem.
I believe elemental damage is not effected, so an acid weapon , for example, would still do acid damage even if all the physical damage is absorbed.
