How is it foolishness?
He was captured by Loghain because he made an error.

One I'm still not over.

Not saying that Riordian is the smartest coconut in the bunch though, but he was tricked by Loghain just like the vast majority of people were.

He's not the majority of people. He's a Warden of how many years coming from Orlais sent on a spy mission into Ferelden.

Anyway this isn't even really why I don't listen to him.

Also I tend to listen to someone who has more experience is matters than me, just sayin.

My Warden has first hand experience with the Blight and the leaders of the armies that will be gathered to fight it. He's running the show. Riordan can stick to fighting. I haven't seen much else worth bragging about from the Grey.

Oh thats great :) You can keep your angry, flea-ridden endings and I'll have my happy, happy wedding ;)

With the bastard OGB of the Bastard king in the hands of Morrigan no less!
What a happy non-angst  ending!

Oh this is getting better and better *shares popcorn with giggles*

As for endings I love to let my chars suffer and if they have suffered enough they might get a reward in the end. Possibly. Perhaps. Err... maybe.

The Wardens choice to ignore Riordan's (good) advice is "the law of the Landsmeet"? Isn't that how dictators start out?

By following the existing law, one tends to avoid dictatorships. By ignoring the law and those in authority is how one becomes Regent, or so it seems.

I see little such evidence. The cutscene showing his retreat shows the king's army in DESPAIR, unable to hold out much longer. Again, leaving lost troops to die to save the rest is not murder. It has been done my the greatest generals. If you insist on the DAO setting, look at the battle of West Hill. Kings fall in battle. Emperors do too. The generals who "failed" to save them due to retreat, losses etc. aren't murderers.... *snip*

Said cutscene, as well as the Racked Nobles' testimony both indicate that the retreat occured before the King, Duncan, and other men are overwhelmed (ie; Orders to march, then shot of King and Duncan being killed.). Trying to revise history does not help matters.

Oh, cute. Sarcasm. :P

The Warden deciding instead of the Landsmeet itself isn't the law. If there is ANYONE who is Loghain's superior and thus able to judge him, it's the queen. (Rulers have condemned family before) Or the WHOLE Landsmeet. Not the seemingly "neutral" Warden.

I am not changing anything. Once we see the battlefield (It's not like hours passed in between) after the late beacon and the retreat. we see a lost battle. The minutes in between changed nothing. The delayed beacon (Because the Warden has to loot everything, ya know? ) however made a MUCH bigger difference.

My Warden wouldn't be happy knowing that her hubby fathered a demon/god baby. With Morrigan!!!!!

Bad tone, Giggles *takes his popcorn away*

But I understand your meaning. I actually don't see the wedding ending as a totally happy one, as well. Too many issues are out in the open still and...well it's Dragon Age, after all. In Ferelden simply exist no disney happy endings ;)

Hmmm, I could start a cult about that.

Well, I was going to point out that this is what minions are for, until I saw the wedding gift part. Then I just decided to start throwing Merilsell's popcorn at you. :P

I'll reply to you because the other's are taking it too personally imo
At the end of the day, I wanted my noble to marry Alistair and so I kill Loghain each time.

And you know what? That's the best RP reason for killing him. If you're RP'ing HNF who's in love with Alistair, then it's perfectly valid.

Other reasons have arguments, but you can't argue with love. Aww.....

Heh. It's actually a writer's disease, really. ;) (independent of being a pro or hobby writer.) When writing my FF I catch myself snickering like mad, when I do baaad things to the characters there. :innocent:

Minions kill out of obedience. I want one who kills for love alone! :innocent:
You know, before I become so revolted with her that I ask her to get out of my sight.

*eats popcorn as you're throwing* mmm keep em coming :D

Loghain threads are volatile like that.

I understand that he was doing what he thought was right. The greater good and all that, but I couldn't let him live after everything he had done.

To be honest, had what's his face had told my Warden why Warden's were needed to stop the Blight I'd force Loghain to do the joining. Even if he didn't want to I'd pour the goblet down his throat myself.

Hell I even wanted to backhand Morrigan for not telling me about this a little sooner. You know like while I still had a chance to recruit people.

Am I the only one who thinks the "Loghain: Bad, Bad Man or Decent Man Who Made Mistakes debate" will rage on just a long as the "Who does Cloud love/love more: Tifa or Aerith debate"? I'll be back in thirteen years to find out ;)

Doesn't matter anymore that now that's Zack is the new hotness. F-you Square Enix for acting like George Lucas and ruining a great story you once told.

On topic, even if there were a universal consensus on what is good and what is evil we'd still be stuck with figuring out what applies to Loghain and what doesn't. The story isn't told from his point of view so we never get to see everything we learn is through suggestive cutscenes, piecing together bits we hear from the people who briefly worked for him and what little conversation you get out of him if you do spare him.
