Before the yahg took over who do you think the shadow broker was? I think they were an asari. It would make sence, since they would most likely need to be someone who was both long lived and very smart. A salarian is too shot lived and a krogan wouldnt be smart enough. Could have been a turian but not sure how long they live for.

What do you think?

Considering we had some indication or hint before hand that the SB was male, I didn't think it was Asari.

I was thinking Turian.

If the SB's been around for centuries, who knows. If it goes back long enough, the original couldn't have been turian.

Could have been a volus or even a former member of the League of One that started the whole thing. But the SB 60 years prior to the evens of Lair of the Shadow Broker could have been any race other then human.

probably been a succession of people, but i would wager that most were salarian, they seem to have an affinity for this kind of work.

batarians arent clever enoegh to pull off an operation like that succesfully. they are greedy territorial bastards. and not too bright, at least thats how they apear to me.
volus is very possible, but i think it would have been a turian

my guess is on volus or salarian. probably a long line of them, explaining the several century thing. volus are totally slimey enough to do that sort of thing and if mordin is any indication, salarians might be up to obtaining such a level of control. turians seem to be more of an in-your-face kinda culture. but i guess there are probably sneaky non-warrior type turians who might go for it. and we're lead to believe it was a male.. so no asari.

we can for sure rule out humans and elcor lol. everyone could tell if it were an elcor.

i would've guessed turian or Krogan, only because krogan have one of the longer life spans of all known species and the SB has been around for a while. The fact that the yahg was taken as a pet could be an attempt to size up the Species that could take on a Krogan and prove krogan dominance ? who knows just a thought

Or maybe another pre-space flight epic species?

I posted the same question here before somebody posted. I checked mass effect wiki. there were few mentioned salarians. they are very smart enough to gather information, and build that kind of mysterious ship. actually they have advanced technology. they like to experiment with other species as well. so I assume that they captured yahg for advanced experiment, then something went wrong.

Maybe archurban but salarians only live 4 decades, where Vasir said that the shadow broker had been in power for decades. I'm not sure how many that is but even though a salarian would fit the bill in every way, the only problem is the age. But unfortunately that's fatal.

And whilst still on the Salarian topic, when i saw the picture of the shadow broker, (with his face in....uh...shadow) i thought he looked like a brute of a salarian, and speaking of brute like salarians where was tazzik? Taz is a good name :(

(finally pauses for breath)

My money would be on the majority of Shadow Brokers being salarian (I subscribe to the idea that the Broker has died/retired/been assassinated dozens of times over the centuries). I don't think the short lifespans of salarians would be a problem as nobody seemed to realize there had been a coup the last time the Shadow Broker was replaced, nor did anyone realize when Liara took over. Vasir likely knew as much about the identity of the Shadow Broker as the rest of the galaxy - that is to say, nothing.

I want to know where Taz was too. I was really looking forward to going toe-to-toe with him. He's supposed to be the Shadow Broker's top enforcer - where was he when his services were needed the most?
