1.0 Creating an account:

Read the official FAQ for a list of accounts you can use to sign up here, or create a new account.

An error message when trying to create an account:
Use the error reporting link that is displayed with the error message.

There is also the option of contacting EA support.

1.1 Account errors:

You have multiple usernames and only want to use one:
Contact EA support to merge the accounts. Some data may be lost during this process, which should be recoverable by EA support.

Unable to post:
Add BioWare to the privacy section of your web browser. See 4.4.

1.2 Password errors:

An 'invalid password' error:
See the official FAQ for characters allowable in creating a password.

Remove all special characters (anything that's not a letter or number).

Reset your password. Choose 'I forgot my password'.

2.0 BioWare registered games:

The registered games from your original BioWare account aren't showing up here:
Currently, only Dragon Age is being displayed here, if you have it registered. The other games will most likely be added to the website at a later date.

3.0 BioWare points:

Solutions to known problems:
Please read this thread for solutions to known problems.

Using a military address:
These addresses are not currently supported through the points system, but will be added in the near future.

Dragon Age
4.0 General Issues:

Character profiles not updating:
If your character hasn't updated in your account here after an hour, first make sure that you've done a manual save in the game. If it still isn't showing the most recent character detail, the site could be experiencing some issues and it may take some time to upload.

Game profile diagnostics page:
Through the diagnostics page, you can see what your game has uploaded to this website, and troubleshoot game information that is missing. The diagnostics page can be found by clicking on 'profile diagnostics' in the sidebar of your game profile page.

How to unlock the lucky stone (lucky ring):
The ring will be available in your game menu after you have uploaded a character to your account here with the character creator.

Where to find the collector's edition items:
Collector's edition items should show up in a new game or a continuing game. If your character doesn't have them, look at the party camp's vendor.

Saving your game:
Saved game files for any game can occasionally become corrupted. Keep two of the same saved game in different save spaces.

4.1 Registering:

Where to find the product code for a Dragon Age boxed game:
For the PC version, the CD key should be inside the box. For the collector's edition, on the back of the manual.

For the console versions, there should be a product code on the back of the box, underneath the barcode. This is a 12-digit number. European versions of the game have a 13-digit number, which some users have reported as not being able to register on the site.

You bought it from Steam and can't find the registration code:
Open the Dragon Age launcher, go to the configuration section, and the product code should be at the bottom.

How to enter the product code:
The product code shouldn't have any dashes or spaces in it.

4.2 Redeeming codes:

Where to find the redeemable codes:
Any redeemable codes for the PC version should be inside the box.

Redeeming codes unofficial FAQ:
Please see the unofficial FAQ on redeeming codes for the PC version.

4.3 Patch issues:

Problems associated with the 1.01 patch:
Please see this thread for help with problems associated with the 1.01 patch.

4.4 Technical problems:

Technical support forums:
Game-related issues for Dragon Age should be posted in the appropriate technical support forum.

For any other Dragon Age problems, read this first. EA support can also be contacted through that page.

Unable to log in from the game:
Add BioWare to the privacy section of your web browser.
Firefox: tools menu>options>privacy>exceptions>allow.
Internet Explorer: tools menu>internet options>security>trusted sites>sites.

Remove special characters from your password.

Unable to log in to the toolset documentation wiki:
Log out from your BioWare account here first.

Downloadable content (DLC) download failed:
A 'download failed' error when attempting to download DLC, with a 'required game version: 1.0' message.
This seems to be a problem after installing the 1.01 patch. Retry the download.

DLC shows as unauthorised:
Patch your game. However, read this before using the patch. Alternatively, try one of the following work-arounds:

Remove the DLC and re-download it.
Log out from the game.
Run the game as an administrator.
Start the updater manually. Go to start menu>run and enter services.msc. Find the Dragon Age content updater and then click on 'start the service'.

4.5 Steam problems:

First of all, see the support page if you bought Dragon Age through Steam. If your issue isn't listed there, contact Steam support.

Mass Effect 2
5.0 General issues:

Game FAQ:
Please be sure to read the FAQ.

Importing a character from the first game:
For a saved game from Mass Effect 1 to be recognised in Mass Effect 2, you need to have an autosave taken from after the end credits of the first game.

Saving your game:
Saved game files for any game can occasionally become corrupted. Keep two of the same saved game in different save spaces.

5.1 Registering:

Where to find the product code for a Mass Effect 2 boxed game:
For the PC version, the CD key should be on the back of the manual (both editions).

For the console versions, there should be a product code on the back of the box, underneath the barcode. This is a 12-digit number. European versions of the game have a 13-digit number.

How to enter the product code:
The product code shouldn't have any dashes or spaces in it.

How to add your Xbox gamertag or your PSN ID to your EA profile:
Login to your EA account here. Click on 'add persona', and then add your Xbox Live gamertag or your PSN Online ID.

For more in-depth instructions, read this.

If you're still having problems linking them, post in this thread.

5.2 Redeeming codes:

Where to find the redeemable codes:
Any redeemable codes for the PC version should be inside the box.

Redeeming codes FAQ section:
Please see the FAQ section on redeeming codes for the PC and Xbox 360 versions.

5.3 Technical problems:

Technical support forums:
Game-related issues for Mass Effect 2 should be posted in the appropriate technical support forum.

Went to EA, spoke with a representative. They told me the accounts could not be merged, with no explanation. I am very disappointed with the Customer Service. Anyone have any luck?

Others have had success in having their accounts merged, so especially as there wasn't an explanation of why yours couldn't be done, I would recommend pestering them until something happens (or they at least let you know why it can't be done).

Ok since this is now stickied, I hope Bioware people can answer... I'll repeat some of the stuff the thread poster already read somewhere else or in private messages!

Let me describe my concern.

1.) Dragon Age : Journey

Woah this is cool! What the hell I can't use my Bioware forum account. I need to create an EA account. Well no matter! I then proceeded to get the unlockable bonus items.

2.) Dragon Age : Origins launch day with social.bioware.com

Ok let me check this new website... Ok I need to create a new account. Oh I have the option to create a brand new account, use an existing EA account (to get my Dragon Age : Journey unlockable items) or use a Dragon Age : Origins account. Of course I selected EA account because I wanted my items and the option to create an account using your old Bioware account wasn't there when I tried (I may still not have selected that because of DA:Journey items).

3.) EA/social.bioware.com VS old Bioware

Ahhh crap. Now I notice that I have 2 separates accounts for Bioware games. the EA/social.bioware.com with all my Dragon Age DLC and the game itself registered. I also have my old Bioware account in their old forums with all my previous registered games.

4.)Since creating an EA account was the only way to get the DA:Journey stuff even tho you had an old Bioware account... maybe they did something to help about that!

Your EA account isn't synchronising with your BioWare account:
Use the account setup page.

Cool this sounds like exactly my problem and lots of other old Bioware fans who played Dragon Age : Journey for the unlockable items!!!

I followed the instructions and now my EA/social.bioware.com should be linked to my old (from 2002) Bioware account who already has a bunch of older Bioware games registered.

Am I right to think everything should be dandy? This is driving me nuts!

It turns out that particular step is no longer needed for new registrations. This site should automatically retrieve and link accounts as necessary when reclaiming an old account. Since that's not what you did, it might have solved your problem. I do believe game registrations are tied to usernames both here and on the old site, though.

This is kind of messy. All those ways to make accounts (and the Bioware option not being there when I did mine on launch day) are confusing as hell.  I consider myself computer litterate (well computers are my job too... :P) so I know I didn't skim over details or made a mistake.

I don't see how someone could use their old Bioware account to see the content they authorized from Dragon Age  : Journey and their EA Account.

Maybe the synching link is what fixes that. Oh how I wish we had all this information when we had to make accounts on launch day. I don't want to lose my 7 years history with Bioware.

EDIT :

I also can't create a social.bioware.com account using my existing Bioware forum account. I tried early this week. I still can't (might not be able now since I synched my accounts... well I tried).

So I couldn't even create a second account and ask EA to merge all the stuff to the social.bioware.com account that would be created from my Bioware account.

Did I mention I'm really disliking this social experimental website?

Do you mean the account with the username HemisH? That's the same name as the one you're using here, so there shouldn't be anything left to do.

The FAQ says you can create accounts from an EA account or Bioware account and that you can use your Bioware forum account username to log here.

I use my e-mail address and a password to log in here. So it's my EA Account. I just wrote the same name to be shown when I completed the steps with my EA account.

In the days following the launch, when I tried to create another account using my Bioware forum account, it should have let me. When I try to log in with my Bioware account info it says it's invalid and it I go in the Sign Up page and try to create an account with the Bioware one it says invalid too.

Nobody really understands my issue. English isn't my first language and I must make it very confusing.

Is this your profile? If it is, you should be all set. If your problem right now is that you cannot register "HemisH," that would be because you already did.

[Edit]
Can you login here with HemisH/password instead of e-mail/password?

This is indeed my Bioware profile which I never used to register to social.bioware.com (won't let me). I cannot use my HemisH as a username with the password I use on Bioware.

social.bioware.com uses the info from my EA Account, which is the e-mail and a different password.

I  just tried a mix of the two. I used HemisH from my Bioware account with my EA password and it worked....

Eer....

Edit : I don't have the same password here and on Bioware so that's why I know those accounts must be separate.

They have always been separate and will continue to be so. Everything that matters (e.g. game registrations) should have been migrated from the old account to your account here, because they share the same username. If you want to change your password on this site, you have to go here (but that will change your password for all EA sites).

Do you have the same email address on both accounts? Setting up an account here, you're meant to be able to use your original BioWare username, and I had thought this relied on matching the passwords, but it's possible it's from the email address as well.

In any case, you have your BioWare username, so you're all set. :)

Guess we'll have to see when they want to merge stuff. I have the same usernames and e-mail address on both account even tho I didn't use use my Bioware acount to transfer it on social.bioware.com. So I guess I'll be able to prove it's really me. Especially since I used the linking account thing from the first post yesterday.

Hate to post here and go off topic but I can't seem to be able to post new threads or even use the "standard form". When I go to type a message in full form the only thing I can see is a bunch of smilies at the bottom of the page. Where I should be able to write it's simply blank. There's no option for me to type or anything. Infact the only way I can post now is because of the Quick Reply option. Sometimes when I load up a new thread I can see the white box to type my message for a split second then it dissappears.

Is this a problem with the site or me? I'm using the latest version of Firefox.

Thanks and sorry for going off topic!

There are options in the tools menu under options>content, as well as the add-ons section. Check those and see if perhaps it was something you don't remember changing or adding.

Nope. Nada, everything is as it should be. I'll try re-downloading FF but I doubt it'll do much seeing as I reinstalled it two days ago. I guess I may be forced to use IE. :(

Thanks for the suggestions though.

For anyone still confused about accounts:

1) Dragon Age Origins *requires* an EA account, or things like DLC or having data show up on this site would never work.

2) if you create an account in the DA game, you can and should use it here

3) whatever display name you are using on this site 100% always corresponds to a Bioware account usable on the old forums.

I just decided to try something I forgot to try since I used the sync link from the first post in this thread.

I tried HemisH (with the password I now have on social.bioware.com) on the old forum and it's working. Where I'm 100% positive it didn't work BEFORE doing this :

Your EA account isn't synchronising with your BioWare account:
Use the account setup page.

Which seems to have vanished from the first post. So it seems I'm all set.

It didn't seem to really be needed as supposedly the site sorts that out by itself, so I just deleted it from the post.

I have a slightly different problem. I have most of my DLC redeemed to this account (I jumped the gun a bit on that, I admit it), but I have my gamertag assigned to an older EA account, where my 360 automatically logs in to with no alternative possible. I did link the accounts, but this hasn't changed anything - I still can only access the DLC I got with DA Journeys, gotten before I even knew Bioware accounts would migrate and integrate into EA accounts. I've asked for an account merging (no response in over 10 days), though I am wondering if there's any simpler way to fix this - or if merging would fix this at all. I know unlinking gamertags from EA accounts is impossible (way to go EA!), and there doesn't seem to be a way to synchronize and/or transfer DLC between accounts, linked or otherwise.

Any suggestions?
