Is Lady Hawke fertile/Can we have children?

The real question is not if it is possible because it is a game and in such anything can be done provided of course the developers choose to. The real issue is how to implement it, if it is a male Hawke a child on the way will have little impact on his day to day activities. If the Hawke in question is female that is where it gets tricky, how do you add this dimension to game play and not penalize the female Hawke player with (no offense) the trivialities of carrying the child or even raising it. I am not being snarky here just trying to raise a point, i can assure you that most folks are not going to enjoy morning sickness the mini game.
I think it is a good idea if the implementation can be done so that the female hawke player is not over burdened with details of child rearing. Getting that done the right way will be the trickiest part but if done right it can add a whole new dimension to DA2.

I myself am mixed on the whole producing a child thing. I mean if it is done so that the player can still continue to play thier Hawke it might work. I can see all the morning sickness and waddle walk jokes flying right past my head as i type this but in all seriousness.

I hadn't really considered the option of children before this thread opened up, mostly because in more more popularly used forms of narration (thrid person) if the protagonist is pregnant, and the story involves her going out and saving the world, then the pregnancy can cause issues that video games typically stay far, far away from.
But the framed narrative, as was pointed out earlier, opens up the possibility that we'll jump across the actual pregnancy into the toddler or infant stage of the child's life. Also, Bioware has said that they're putting a strong emphasis on family, so I'd say the possibility is there. As for child-rearing...well. Hawke is going to become a very important person, presumably wealthy and influential. Real people that are wealthy and influential frequently need help juggling their responsbilities and their parenting, so they hire nannies. It isn't a complicated or thought-provking idea, but it would give the story the breathing room it needs for Hawke-as-a-mother to continue being an active participant in battles in and around Kirkwall.

I hope they put a child option in the game. It would add an interesting aspect to the game. It will span over ten years, I'm sure there will be times of peace for Hawke during these years. As to raising the child, either the child is left at home with the LI, or if Hawke becomes an important character in Thedas she/he would be able to hire nannys and tutors for her child. Important people in the medieval times had plenty of people help raising their children, same applies for dragon age. We know that a cousland warden had a nanny.
Hm. Ninja-ed, I have been.

And feast on the tears of everyone from the Varric fan thread (as if they haven't already from the in-game shot of him).

It means that you said the same thing I did, or mostly the same thing, but posted to the thread a little bit faster.

I presume she can have kids like any other non-Warden woman, but i wouldn't like to have the option...I mean i don't want my Lady Hawke pregnant in the middle of the story >
there are time skips in the game, they could use the pregnancy event in one of them

Deal with it.
If life in DA2 is going to be around Kirkwall very much, then why not add the option of a child, somewhere? The timeshifts allow many things to happen in the meanwhile anyway.
The FAQ suggests that LIs might not just be companions, so returning from a long trip to a girl Hawke knew "very well" might bring surprises. Or Lady Hawke falls in love and stays with a man, an uneventful year passes, besides offspring appearing.
But only if it adds depth to the story, like I already said.

Since Hawke isn't a Warden, does that mean Lady Hawke can get pregnant if she sleeps around? What happens then?
Maybe at the end of the game,if Hawke romances someone, he or she will have a child by the conclusion of the story.

Personally, I hope not. I don't want to see Dragon Age or its franchise turned into a Fable II or Fable III game, where you can marry and have children. To me, an adventurer's life needs to be the free-roaming kind.
I'd hate to spread hearsay, but I think it is true that they have said the "camp" will now be the city of Kirkwall, which means the whole game might end up being very home-centric.

We don't want stupid realism pooping in our games! I am surprised nobody made a "Does Hawke get poop time in-game" thread yet.....

umm.. I thought we meant US! As in, we the players! But I think you just disproved me...
I mean you really want Hawke (lady) to be all pregnant and fighting darkspawn or taking a maternity leave???? Or being all motherly all of a sudden (hormonal change)???
And don't forget she will have to feed the bay which will keep the entire camp awake the whole night and poop into your DLC armour.

Realism...realism...You mean...like knocking up a woman without blood magic rituals? Having children that way?
Like you do in DAO? Possibly twice? And suffer the consequences for later?
Realism like being in romantic relationships, having friends, getting engaged, all of those things?
No one is asking for a baby simulator--I'm not even sure this is a feature I'd enjoy--but simply the ability to have children within the long period of time the game lasts.

Do you think the game is literally a ten years long playthrough, and that we see every scrap of her life? There will be time skips, and during those times, that's when she would be pregnant and give birth, most likely.
Also, since when is her job fighting darkspawn?
Wet nurses exist, you know, especially if she has the child late in the game and is able to hire one. She wouldn't need to feed her child. Oh, yeah, and given that the entire city of Kirkwall is her "camp", I'd say one little baby inside her family estates isn't going to wake the entire city.

It'll probably be like, there's an opportunity to have sex with someone at a specific point, then after that you go on your normal business -- you don't, of course, know yet that you're pregnant -- then, after a ten-month timeskip, you find out what happened, and you've got a baby.
If this is done early, the child could grow and even be a central character in the story( though a 7-9 year old party member member seems very unlikely). If it's done later on, though, the baby wouldn't really have time to grow.

I understand where you're coming from. Hollywood has made so that everything concerning newborn children is all about nappies, hormones and restless nights with jokes about or with them.
I favour this baby plan only if they can weave it into the storyline, if it makes the plot richer. But if they do add possibilities of children, I am sure they will pull it off well.

Because if it is tightly woven into the story, you can bet your ass that it wont be a possiblity, but a force.
