This is something I have seen talked about all over but felt the need to talk about in a dedicated thread, and I apologize in advance if a thread like this has already been done.
Anyway, as I was playing the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, and being blown away by the quality of the experience, it only served to reenforce something that I have believed for a long while: as eager as I am to finish up the story of Commander Shepard and the Reapers, I firmly believe that this is something that should not be rushed. The latest DLC was so high quality that the story between ME2 and ME3 can fleshed out even further and give the ME3 team plenty of time to polish off the experience. Everyone, myself included, is expecting great things from this finale, and are expecting a huge, complete, and heart stopping epic conclusion. With expectations so high I say it would be fair to give Bioware all the time they need to deliver. Personally, I would not cry if ME3 was released say, the summer of 2012. It would offer plenty of extra time for development, lots of people would have plenty of spare time due to various summer vacations, and with summer typically being a dry period for quality AAA releases it would also help in the sales department too. So I say to Bioware, use all the time you can get out of EA to get it done right, and NOT done quickly, and I say to YOU my fellow Mass Effect fans to support this view point as everyone wins in the end, and as the old cliche goes, "good things come to those who wait".
Mass Effect 3: Done right or done fast?

I'd be content having DLC for the next 3 years just aslong as it meant ME3 was perfect. Hopefully 30+ hours worths of compulsory content plus another 20+ of optional assignments, missions and the like. I'd even pay £100 for it.
I just want it to be a long and extremely satisfying experience.

Mass Effect 3 will be out January 2012. It needs no more or less time than the previous two.

Yes but this is the assumption that you can't provide the 3rd installment with quality at a better time frame because of all things you learned from 1 and 2.
If one has the manpower, talent, and is ahead of schedule that can produce a quality game, I say --- go for it. If you can't trust your people than where are you in this business?
Just because something is done fast doesn't mean it will bad --- the final product will suggest that and the players. You can take 5 years to make a game but what if its final result was crap in the end? Time frame is based upon your Developer team and the confidence that is put in their abilities.

I say 2012 is too long especially since their already dishing out a DA: 2
Plus you'll need some good released games as well especially in this economy and you can't afford to lag either.

preferably both fast and right!! Just because you work forever on a game doesn't mean it'll be good, Too Human anyone?. I think Q4 2011 is just enough time. It's not like they have to start from scratch this time

Put it this way, if your team says " No" then you wait more --- if they say " Hell yeah, that won't be an issue" --- well then let them do it... as long as it lives up to quality and such.

Unless they've changed engines again, there's no reason they can't do it right AND have it ready in 2011.

I hope that the bioware team are not under any pressure for a release date.
1. They bloody deserve to not have any pressure for making such awesome games
2. Mass effect 3 has to be brilliant. I mean truly outstanding. Even chuck norris would incinerate from playing the godly and devine game and should be the paradigm of gaming. I am sure everyone on this forum would not mind waiting so that ME3 is perfect in every single way.
Nothing much more to say apart from if the Bioware team rush the game and make Conrad Verner the next Saren and his side kick the "Biotic god," and make you play as Mass Sargent Gardner who fights the reapers by making sure that cereberus soldiers have a full stomach. I will laugh for a few seconds, wilt over, suffer an epileptic fit, start melting and then implode.

Here here, OP!
Remember when everyone was pissed at how long LotSB was taking to come out, let alone reveal more info about itself?
The DLC certainly shut everyone the hell up. Learn from this, Bioware!

I'd personally like BW to take as much time as they need on this, keeps it as something to look forward to because lets face it, the best play of all the ME games are your first play. Once its over, thats it :/. Though theres talk of future ME projects, i'd still like to keep ME3 as something to look forward to for some time. 2012 is a reasonable time period to wait for me

Just make sure the PC version isnt just a port.
We want mouse double clicking and mouse wheel scrolling support atleast this time.

I'd want it to take as long as takes to do the first two parts justice, I don't want another KOTOR 2, huge potential just pissed away

I wouldn't mind waiting for an awesome finale, some dlc in between would keep everyone 'ticking over' i think. Lotsb was very good though and Bioware has raised their own bar, more dlc at that quality ill wait no problem.

2012 is the latest I want to see it out by. I'm ok with December 2012 (not because of the stupid doomsday prophecy) but any later will be annoying.

I completely agree with the OP. I would rather wait a long time for something high-quality than for a rushed game that ties up only a couple lose ends.

No, it'll be the last of Shepard's story and (probably) the Reapers. There will be spin-offsmustardshake57 wrote...
