I really don't think ME3 will come out later than early 2012. Truthfully, I think much of the early work done on ME2 was getting the ridiculously ****ty game engine to work properly, ie: Losing hanging load times and delayed textures and framerate issues etc. Now that the engine runs smoothly, ME3 is probably much further on its way than ME2 was at this point in its life cycle. I think we're already seeing evidence of ME3 upgrades in the ME2 DLC, like Liara's shiny new face.

Needs to be done right. If the latest DLCs are anything to go by (LotSB, Overlord), I trust them to do that.

Love to have a toolset to play with at the end and make our own mods ...

Just make sure the PC version isnt just a port.

We want mouse double clicking and mouse wheel scrolling support atleast this time.

This.  At least we can assign more abilities for more fluid combat.

Right. Hell, I waited 12 years for Duke Nukem Forever.

This. Anyone who says fast is the cancer killing the gaming industry.

I approve of this post.

I want an epic conslusion for ME3 not some low quality game. I want ME3 to better than the previous games.

Do it Right BioWare. It's the finale, so make everything epic. More enviroments, more variety, vechicles and lots of stuff.

This is only my opinion, don't judge me.

They have already great physics engine, cast, story and of course, imagination. Even if they would make haste to get the game out early, it would be great. What could go wrong with such a great team of scripters, coders, acters... you name it. They've been processing all the stories inside ME and ME2, and so, it will be the final big bang for this series. There aren't only "few loose ends", there are hundreds of 'em. No matter what you say, you are right. They will do everything with anything they have. And they have a lot.

Phew... Got that off my chest.

I don't care when it comes out, as long as it gets done right. And as long as it comes out sometimes within my lifetime, I mean, think of all the poor souls who were looking forward to Duke Nukem Forever but got gunned down in a dark alley at some point over the past twelve years.

So... yeah, rush that game out. You wouldn't want someone who's looking forward to the game dying before they get a chance to play it, right?

EDI: "That was a joke."

Bioware need to be left alone and given free reign to take all the time they want with Mass Effect 3. If it takes until late 2012, 2013 - then so be it. I'll wait as long as it takes, especially if we keep getting DLC up to the standard of LotSB to tide us over.

I figure it's gonna take them a while just to sort out how they're going to make the last game.. 12 squad members that all have the potential to die? How do you make any of their roles in the next one meaningful?

I figure that Bioware is gonna be drooling and staring at a flow chart like this until about November or December...

The fact is that they have most of the assets already established. So while they will most likely make some new assets for new areas, they won't have to start over from scratch or anything. They're not changing the combat mechanics either. They can focus more on the story this time around, and that won't result in a longer production time. Late 2011/Early 2012 is very reasonable.

Casey Hudson also said that they don't want to take a long time developing Mass 3, because they don't want fans to have to wait a long while to finish off the series.

They should make it as long as they need to. No need to rush. This game must be epic:)

Right.

Do it right. Screw fast. Blizzard never does anything fast. Blizzard always does it right. Blizzard is the number one game company in the world.

BioWare must knock it out of the park with Mass Effect 3. It must be flawless (or as close as is possible given multiple platforms). If it's anything less, the disappointment among the fans will be... well, I'm not sure if there are words to describe what the disappointment among the fans will be. BioWare need to take all the time necessary to make a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

Done fast AND right

In a perfect world we would have this.

I suppose the obvious answer to this question is Done Right but there is a limit to how much I can wait for ME3. ME2 only came out  6 months ago ( I think I have that right ) and I am already dieing to get my next ME fix. I can't manage another playthrough of ME1 since I find that game to be unplayable and there is a limit to how many times I can play through ME2 before it becomes repetive ( not to mention I find more and more things to **** and complain about ), likewise there is limit to how much DLC I will purchase before I start feeling ripped off by Bioware and start to Boycot everything ME related.

Rumour has it Bioware will release ME3 around about 4th Quarter 2011 and while noone has confirmed this I think this is an ideal release date for ME3. It's not like Bioware has to build a new engine for ME3 since most of us are happy with what was used in ME2. Likewise, I would like to think that Bioware already knows how the ME trilogy will end, they just need to fleash out all the details. There is no reason why we should be waiting 2 to 3 years for ME3.

Blizzard took 11 years for a reskinned mod of Starcraft..  They're imo not a good example of an amzing comany..  They spend more money on play rooms, mansion like gardens and statues than they ever do on game development.  I mean SC2 is seriously just a retweaked starcraft with a cliche cinematic sp campaign.. 11 years for that?  Plus WoW looks so dated now it's laughable, especially considering how much cash they make on it.  8 million subs x $15 a month = 1.4 billion $ a year, they should have the most revolutionary and amazing game engines, mechanics and stories in all of gaming, instead they're just so-so games with bad graphics engines and terrible balance (SC2 aside).  Blizzard is an example to me of a greed driven entity that could care less for fans..

But I agree on doing it right rather than fast, just not 11 years for a mod of their last game..

Yes but this is the assumption that you can't provide the 3rd installment with quality at a better time frame because of all things you learned from 1 and 2.

If one has the manpower, talent, and is ahead of schedule that can produce a quality game, I say --- go for it. If you can't trust your people than where are you in this business?

Just because something is done fast doesn't mean it will bad --- the final product will suggest that and the players. You can take 5 years to make a game but what if its final result was crap in the end? Time frame is based upon your Developer team and the confidence that is put in their abilities.

Exactly. You make a great point sir. Look at what happened to Alan Wake, not to mention Duke Nukem Forever. Surely they don't want the last chapter of Shepard's story to end up like either of those.

I imagine a few moments have had programmers on their knees crying "whhhhy!?" when it comes to how huge a project Mas Effect is. As it's been said their only solace is that they don't have to consider any sequals  now so it cuts down the work.
