Do it right. Screw fast. Blizzard never does anything fast. Blizzard always does it right. Blizzard is the number one game company in the world.
Blizzard took 11 years for a reskinned mod of Starcraft.. They're imo not a good example of an amzing comany.. They spend more money on play rooms, mansion like gardens and statues than they ever do on game development. I mean SC2 is seriously just a retweaked starcraft with a cliche cinematic sp campaign.. 11 years for that? Plus WoW looks so dated now it's laughable, especially considering how much cash they make on it. 8 million subs x $15 a month = 1.4 billion $ a year, they should have the most revolutionary and amazing game engines, mechanics and stories in all of gaming, instead they're just so-so games with bad graphics engines and terrible balance (SC2 aside). Blizzard is an example to me of a greed driven entity that could care less for fans..
But I agree on doing it right rather than fast, just not 11 years for a mod of their last game..
I doubt we'll see anything like that. heck the difference between ME and ME 2 is pretty big and had devided fans on which is better. I can see ME 3 incorporating even more innovations and new ideas.

so long as they keep pumping out good DLC i don't care how long it takes gor ME3....within reason of course
Yep. I'd rather wait an extra 6 months for something done right, than have it now but with some shortcomings.

I'd wait five if that's what it took to make a worthy finish to the trilogy. So long as it does eventually come, I'm fine with waiting a while for a good last game.

And judging by how time seems to be flying lately, two years really won't take that long. I'm gonna be pissed if I die in a freak accident and don't get to play it though.

I bet we get a trailer by the end of this year.
I hope so. Bioware trailers are epic. Hell, half the time I don't care about the game, I just wanna watch their trailers.

You do have to remember that ME2 was made with ME3 in mind. They will use the same/very similar gameplay mechanics. So if ME3 is going to suck it isnt because they rushed it.
Correct, they've already pretty much said that some of the foundations are already set for ME3 thanks to ME2. They said that pretty much just after ME2 got released and that they were already working on ME3.
Just because they have people working on DLC doesn't mean to say they also have people working on ME3. Then of course the two groups will obviously be working together to 'bridge the gap', am sure that Casey or someone else stated that the gap between ME2 and ME3 will be shorter as also will possibly be the time between them being released compared to ME and ME2.
All that said, how anyone can want it done fast over done right is beyond me. Just hope people don't moan at them if it does get released in a shorter time than it took ME2 to be released due to above comments. Shorter time in development doesn't always mean something has been rushed.

They also made ME1 with ME2 in mind, it was still a 2 year wait and it dissapointed fans while introducing casuals who never even glanced at the original.HTTP 404 wrote...

Gameplay mechanics between 1 and 2 are wholly different. Gameplay mechanics between 2 and 3 are going to be very similar. Gameplay mechanics, art, AI, etc. was made in mind for ME3 when they made 2.
So what's your argument? that your opinion of 2 was dissappointing? thats not the topic. Read previous post yours

Ha yeah right, most likely Bioware will release their first trailer for Mass effect 3 at E3 2011. If they actually do release a trailer for Mass effect 3 by the end of this year I will be surprised.

This is something I have seen talked about all over but felt the need to talk about in a dedicated thread, and I apologize in advance if a thread like this has already been done.
Anyway, as I was playing the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, and being blown away by the quality of the experience, it only served to reenforce something that I have believed for a long while: as eager as I am to finish up the story of Commander Shepard and the Reapers, I firmly believe that this is something that should not be rushed. The latest DLC was so high quality that the story between ME2 and ME3 can fleshed out even further and give the ME3 team plenty of time to polish off the experience. Everyone, myself included, is expecting great things from this finale, and are expecting a huge, complete, and heart stopping epic conclusion. With expectations so high I say it would be fair to give Bioware all the time they need to deliver. Personally, I would not cry if ME3 was released say, the summer of 2012. It would offer plenty of extra time for development, lots of people would have plenty of spare time due to various summer vacations, and with summer typically being a dry period for quality AAA releases it would also help in the sales department too. So I say to Bioware, use all the time you can get out of EA to get it done right, and NOT done quickly, and I say to YOU my fellow Mass Effect fans to support this view point as everyone wins in the end, and as the old cliche goes, "good things come to those who wait".

Yes
yes they must take their time to make it stand out like all the other
Bioware games on PC and now comming on console like ME2 next year for
ps3.
Basically they can do DLCs for ME2 until ME3 comes out and this
should keep us busy while we wait:) Another reason why they should DLC
more for ME2 or shall I say continue to make them like the last DLC
Shadow Broker if not better (Don't get me wrong it got high Votes in
many reviews i'm just asking Bioware not to hold back on quality), is
because our character can be imported to ME3:)
Personally I got ALL the DLCs for my Xbox, only wish I had the PC version for serious high res:)

BUT even if they didn't change ANYTHING in graphics n gameplay mechanics from ME2, i'd almost sell non-vital organs on the black market just to get into the 3rd chapter of the ME story. this trilogy is something big. n bioware knows it.
the thing about getting top rate DLC between ME2 n ME3 is that the time they spend developing the DLC to such a high quality level, its most likely sucking resources from the developement of ME3. but its the perfect way to weed out the fiddly little parts between ME2 n ME3, so that when ME3 hits our consoles its gonna be mind-blowing.
because when you think about the story as a whole: ME2 hardly covered any ground? i mean, there was HEAPS of content in ME2 but sitting back n looking at the story line, especially the closing scene of ME2, you just think that everything you did in ME2 (while amazing) was nothing compared to what is left to tell about the story of shepard n the reapers.
so i'm expecting ME3 to be absolutely huge..
