2 to 3 years. That's how long I'm willing to wait for ME3. Seeing as BioWare was focusing more on improving the combat in ME2. In ME3 they just have to do some fine tunes and tweaks for it and that let's them focus more on giving us the ending we deserve. Even if it means the game consits of 3 disc, which might seem likely to me.
Mass Effect 3: Done right or done fast?

Done right of course!
I can wait until 2015 if that is what it take (and if we get some DLC in the meantime
). It's going to be published withing the next 1.5 years anyway, since it's supposed to work on the current console generation, right?
Anyway, I was actually surprised by how fast they delivered ME2 with such high quality. If they keep that up and make a great and epic main plot this time, I'll be delighted.

As long as they keep some good DLC rolling in every 8 to 10 months till ME3 is done they can take as long as they want. ME3 has to be done in an almost perfect fashion it it is going to make a lot of people mad xD.
I do not see how they are going to wrap the plot of the game up as it is within the span of one game unless they make it like 80 hours long or something, or do something cheap (special weapon to kill all reapers for example).

Honestly, I want it both done right and done fast. I'm dying to know how the trilogy ends. But if I must choose between the two then I want it done right - I want an epic ending with tons of gameplay. If I have to wait longer for that I will gladly do it.

Take your time Bioware! ME3 should be a game heavily influenced by the decision of ME and ME2. It should be talked about still in 20 years.
I'll gladly wait until it is finish (however long it may take) and will surely buy the über-edition!

I have faith in Bioware. People point at all the flaws in ME2, but we gotta remember all the work they did. They rebuilt the combat nearly from the ground up, and they made huge graphical improvements. They also did the best thing they could've done-pay attention to us. The first two means that they have their work cut out for us, and since most of us here on BSN are mature enough to give constructive criticism, they should be able to make a lot of changes for the better.
I have complete faith that Bioware can get it done, who, IMO, are probably one of the, if not the best game, developer(s) on the planet. They could release it tomorrow and be good, but they want their best-something they'll be proud of. And I'm sure willing to wait years for that. It helps that ME1 & ME2 are so damn good that they can hold us over until then

Done right.
Done right doesn't necessarily mean more time though. I mean look how long C&C took to reach C&C: Twilight and look how much that turned out to be a piece of < sounds like ship >.

Hear hear, my friend. However, I still think summer of 2012 is the sweet spot release date that will ensure the quality of the final product. Taking the "done right" approach seems to be the verdict in this thread and that makes me really happy.

I want ME3 done right, though i would like to see it around late 2012 or so.
ME3 should have an amazing story, better rpg elements, balanced gameplay/ dialogue and a MONUMENTAL & open-ended ending. So long as i get that (along with DLC, of course), i'm set!

Hey there my friends. I hope not to get too off-topic with this post, but in the op I said I and many others would be even more willing to wait longer for ME3 if we got some quality DLC in the meantime along the lines of Lair of the Shadow Broker. Well, as most of you may be aware there is a support group for DLC along those lines for Virmire Survivor, as in whoever you chose to save from Virmire in ME1, not Lazarus Project 2.0 like some seem to misunderstand. Anyway, I joined the support group some time ago and support for the idea has been incredible with 483 members and counting! Still, more is needed to ensure this DLC comes out before the release of ME3 so please fellow forum goers, if you have not already check it out!

Just like Zapp Branagin's Love Hard and Fast. Nah I'm just joking, do it right or don't do it at al.

Exactly! I can only hope that with such high expectations out there for Mass Effect 3 that it'll be able to live up to them. Of course, this IS Bioware we are taking about. I'm sure they'll manage it.

Now this is only a quasi good example. The final two Matrix movies were released within 3 months of each. They were not particulary good but it had more to do with the direction of the story than anything. The special effects were good and the movies could've have been better the writers just made lousy choices in that department (IMO). Now I don't see why a game couldn't do the same thing sucessfully. As long as the story is good I think it would work. That said Bioware would have had to be codeveloping ME3 when they were making ME2 and all indications point to that not being the case. Still done fast and done right are not mutually exclusive of each other.

Now, whenever a lot of rumors about a possible show teaser Mass Effect 3 on VideoGameAwards I would again like to raise this topic again and say, that many people expressed that they are willing to wait longer, but get a well-defined, more stable game, without loss plot lines due to lack of time and hard deadlines for development game.
I play on PC and, in turn, I say that I am willing to wait longer than players on other platforms, but get more adapted the game with all the hot keys and the benefits of PC platform.

Done right, but BW already said much time ago that the graphic engine and the game system will needs just little upgrades, so I still hope to see it in 2011 (not early 2011 off course), but also made in the right way, considering that the basic structure of the game's almost alredy here.

I would wait several more years and pay more if it means getting a long high quality game. Not something with half baked or barely tested mechanics like the paragon/renegade system, the termal clip system or the armor/shield/barrier system (unbalanced on higher difficulty) or a game ripped apart and split up into disconnected, unbalanced DLC. If this is going to be the epic conclusion of an epic trilogy then they better do it justice.
This trilogy has to end with lasting appeal to make it never be forgotten.
I dare you to push them EA, let them do their thing!

well i'd wait for quite some time still,
but bioware does want to laucnh ME3 on the 360 before the new microsoft platform comes out,
so odds are i won't have to wait an obscene amount of time.
if it's better than ME2 in any way. i shall be happy.

I don't see why expecting a fall 2011 release would be considered to be a rushed product by anyone's standards. Bioware went through a learning curve with ME 1 and ME 2. They're most likely more productive and efficient than they were before. The only thing (IMO) that would have them release the game during the summer of 2012 is a much longer and deeper story than we saw with the first two releases. All of this is speculation though.
