Take into consideration, once you have the base models, game engine and story down, evolving from that doesn't take that much development time at all because all this is already set up. The thing that takes the time is actually doing the proofing and beta testing play to check for errors and seeing what can be tweaked or improved. So, saying two years between sequels isn't 'too fast'.

Well, trailer just came out along with a time frame for release, which was in later 2011. So much for that, huh? I'm just hoping the end result doesn't get messed over by EA's ridiculous policies and Bioware not sticking to their guns and cowing to the EA execs. This is not an attempt to bash but rather voicing a sincere concern over a series I hold near and dear to my heart as a gamer. Hoping for the best, but now preparing myself for the worst.

Cowing to EA execs? You mean like cowing to one of the Senior Vice Presidents and Group General Manager of EA, such as Dr Ray Muzyka?

*tries to imagine the Dr cowing to himself* hmm...

I'm sorry but it always amuses me how people like to talk about EA and Bioware bowing down before them, considering the CEO of Bioware is a senior VP of EA. Somehow I think he is going to have a larger say in what happens with Mass Effect than some of the other execs in EA.

The groundwork for ME3 was already there before they would have started on it, most of the things in ME2 are most likely going to stay with just some alterations where needed. Which then basically means that it's all about implementing the story into it. I would imagine the basic skeleton of the story has already been known for a long while now (no good writer just, makes it up as they go along). So it is fairly reasonable for it to still be done right and yet in such a space of time (about 2 years since ME2 was finished)

I can understand your concerns but I think your worrying too much. I think the main reason why 'trailer' and more to the point the whole 'earth invasion' has come as a bit of a shock, is because we figured it isn't exactly on the fringe of the Galaxy and even though there was the forewarning we've already had, we just figured we would get to them before they got to us. Whilst I am only guessing, I imagine one of the upcoming bridging DLC will give more scope and plausible reason as to how the Reapers inact plan C.

Yeah, I see your point. I was always a bit of a worrier at heart. :P Still, my gut still says to have guarded enthusiasm, but I have faith that Bioware will deliver the goods and make sure the story of Shepard goes out with a bang.

Well, here I am enjoying my first vacation in over a year and I hear news that Mass Effect 3 will be delayed into the beginning of 2012. To me this is wonderful news and even though my little thread here had nothing to do with it, I am glad and relieved that the point was not lost (especially with what happened with DA2 but that's a can of worms I'm not going to open). Now, back to wine, women, and song. :P

Please don't resurrect 5-month-old threads.

End of line.
