Hey guys, Im one of the peoples that using Project feature from this new forums, and I noticed, that particulary NWN Projects are very underated and neglected. Why is that? There is plenty of project for NWN and I must say all of them sound very good. However no one bother to discuss there and those projects looks like "one man show" (although they mostly are =]).

I figured, maybe not all of you knows about how projects works, where to find them etc.

Each project have a discussion board there where you can read developers notes and discuss about the project. Then there is comment feature, not sure what for, but if there is not thread where you could express you like that project, you may use comments. In files, you can download some stuff. In galery there will be probably a few images...

Very important and hidden feature is the "Popularity +" button in the Project Details table at right side. Click on it if you like that project. This is also used when browsing projects...

This LINK will show you all projecs for NWN.

Now few particular NWN projects (ordered by current popularity):

Community Patch Project - large collection of fixes and changes in attempt to make first NWN1 unofficial patch
NWNX - essential extension for PWs
NWNShader - graphical extension, that allows new graphic features
Wildlands & Wild woods tilesets - more awesome _six's tilesets
Fighting SFX - sound and music adjustment
D20 Modern - An NWN adaptation
Solaufein - Singleplayer module
Fox spells - new features and fixes for spellscripts

I'd love to help woth the comunity patch (unoffical patches are always awesome) but I have  very little knowledge of coding, with that said I'll try to spread the word, this game is to damn awesome to let it die

this should be stickied.

The Neverwinter Nights projects section deserves more attention.
GOOD stuff aplenty is buried in there.

Give it a look. Download it. Try it. Comment it.
+ADD to its reputation if you like it.

These authors still mod the game. See all they have done!

Well said. I recently created a project for my WIP PW/module/setting/content, and it's already proved pretty useful (it certainly saved me time not needing to set up a forum).

Because they dont appear in my recent activity feed unless they are friends I miss a lot of what happens in projects I think. People like me need a kick in the bum to check projects.

In the Dragon Age community, we've had some problems with the projects listing on BSN, because so many of the entries have no download, and the official classification is unreliable (e.g. Mass Effect project listed as NWN).

So, we're now operating a Community Index of BSN Projects for Dragon Age.

Although NWN is not in our scope, we have been keeping a URL list for NWN projects that meet our criteria, as an audit trail of projects excluded for a good reason. Currently, there are only four, but no doubt there will be more.

If anyone would like to make a similar index for NWN, let me know. Our method is in the public domain, as part of a continuing commitment by Open House to sharing knowledge and assets in gaming communities.

Yeah ShadoOow, that's very true. I think the feature lacks easy finding/browsing functions. I myself don't follow my own projects, because I rarely think of them when I check these forums and nothing reminds me they here... so, its not surprising not many people look for these. I suppose some added features to the forum could help this but It doesn't seem like Bioware intent to improve those :/

Why are all the projects creation dates the same as the updated dates... every single one was the same... are none of them updated? Or is it just a bug.

I guess the updated date is changed only if you change description of the Project which I guess non of us did.

So, yes, the message is totally off topic, and NO there is not a 'Off Topic Sticky Suggestion' thread, though you are free to make one if you like. That's a very good link to YouTube regarding Dragon Age. The voice acting is spot on and the camera work is top notch. Amazing what you can do with the cinimatic portion of the DA toolset.

Possibly, one reason why Projects gets less attention is that people link their project trackers and announcements in with the build systems they have. 
Over on Avlis we always have systems in development, some of them very extensive, but they're tracked and announced from our site rather than from here. 

Linking those together somehow might be a good way for worlds with an active build staff to link the Bioware forums to their own active development centers.

Ok, please let me allow to notify you about my project Community Patch 1.70 progress. I have done almost everything what I wanted, the patch is from 99% completed and thanks to ElgarL it works exactly like I want from start, exactly like old official patches did, though I don't have installer yet :?.

I tested most of it, but not everything, so I don't dare to say its ready for distribution, so I marked this version still as beta, but probably last. Now I need to playtest it. Few my friends already doing this, but if this should be community patch I need as much opinions and advices as possible. Feel free to suggest anything about the current content, I am willing to remove anything what community won't want.

Instalation is simple, just extract into your NWN root directory and overwrite everything. (Doh! I accidentally included english dialog.tlk into the package so, if you do not have english text table, do not overwrite dialog.tlk... sorry) If you would want to downgrade, just use 1.69 patch critical rebuild and its done.

Package contains except core datas also documentation and 2da source and spell scripts for builders

The non-script related documentation can be found also there (first post). The script related documentation is so long that it will rather make NWN wiki page. So far its included in the package in folder 1.70 documentation/170scriptfixes.txt .

If you have any questions, make a new topic in Custom Content forum or respond in the Project page thanks.

Community patch beta3 is now available. I uploaded it also on vault this time.

Installation:
1) Close game and toolset
2) download Patch_1.70 file from the project or Vault page and extract it in your NWN root directory
3) overwrite everything, don't worry if you would want to downgrade, you can use 1.69 critical rebuild
4) if you use english talk table for 1.69 consider download EN_dialog file which is new english talk table for patch (only ENglish and CZech languages available now). Then extract in NWN root and override old one.
5) Done, now you may run game/toolset again.

Community patch beta4 is now available. I uploaded it also on vault (better download from there, the project doesnt allow exe/7z).

Installation is same as before, except I added an automatics installator (download at vault) that installs core files, builder resources and option hak. It does not contains english text file, neither documentation.

Please note that this is probably last beta before completing this project, so I think its quite safe now to integrate it even into PW module. If you would need help with that contact me either privatelly or make a new topic in custom content forum.

Also, I enhanced the documentation. It's still not finished, but the main features should be explained very precisely in index.htm inside package with documentation.
170scriptfixes.txt contains very deep informations about changes in every single spell/ability/feat/trap/other script/global script changes.
Readme.txt is a brief list of all fixes and features.
Also thanks to Dark Defiance, the Community Patch Project has a logo :wizard:

Another Community Patch notice:

The final version is close, there are only minor projects that should be finished before I can claim its complete; to complete documentation (me), auto 2da merge program (Kubis) and new main GUI (Dark Defiance).

And you can help the project with the main GUI, the Dark Defiance created a two variants and its up to community to choose the better (or offer own :kissing:).

I have setup POLL so you can vote and comment there.
