I didn't hear that much of femShep voice acting yet, but I liked maleShep better up till now. As far as other people's attitudes are concerned.. I disagree with things that have nothing to do with femShep, so why should it stop there?
Yeah well, its just a matter that most gamers find their own preferred performance and stick with it, while others have to take it a step further and never shut up about their preference, and this leads to something of "voice wars" over it.
I think thats pretty much what a lot of this thread has been actually.
Regardless, I stand by the view that making them both the as much the same as possible is the right way to go. Its only a shame people cant feel the need to have the same attitude on both, instead of trying to put one on some sort of pedestal.

Does that mean now that Im forced to complaining every time I post something contrary to what the OP brought up? Thats ultimately the issue here. Its been horrifically derailed, but all this started from a completely on topic post that I believe you will find you are one of the key culprits to derail it.
Just go back a few pages and check, youll see.
no it means when you dislike something and you say you dislike it, you're complaining
come on man you even had me look up a definition for you and you're still fighting it
just give in

Its not a complex argument rad. Im sure youd realise that if you actually read my initial post instead of jumping on the trolling/pic/gif spam bandwagon.
Essentially this article posted (and many of the attitudes present within the thread) combine to form the reason why, as a roleplayer utilising one of MEs few major roleplaying aspects, I fundamentally prefer maleshep.
Youve trolled and spammed and danced the way around the issue, buts thats it if you still want it.

I don't like Hale's acting. It really sounds like she is trying too hard with the acting. Meer actually sounds like a no-nonsense soldier, Hale sounds like someone acting like a soldier. This is especially obvious with how she tries to pour emotion into every line, when most things that Shepard says really need to be normal tone of voice, and not operatic. That's just my opinion though.
You may have your opinion that MaleShepard has better voice acting... but it is wrong. There is no room for debate, no room for speculation. It is a fact as rooted in reality as the sky being blue that FemShepard's voice acting is more convincing, more passionate and better delivered than MicrosoftSamShepard's monotonous, inappropriately spikey, emotionless, passionless, read-straight-off-a-card-with-absolutely-no-substance voice "acting."
I respect your right to an opinion whether you think a street is clear of traffic, the sky is green or MaleShepard delivered better than FemShepard, you are wrong objectively in the realm of reality composed of facts not opinions.
Just to point out:

Watch it with the "No __ Shep is better" ranting. keep it to discussions, and no juvenile put downs. Thank you
Your VA preference all depends on how you expect Shepard to act. I expect Shepard to keep his emotions in check, sound calm, collected and in charge to inspire confidence for his crew. Outbursts of emotion should be kept in private or at the very least to times where a senior alliance officer and spectre showing emotion - especially anger gives weight to the situation.
I love Hale as a VA ever since she was Black Cat in the 90s Spider-man but I just prefer the delivery done by Mark Meer. I agree he was better in Mass Effect 2 however. In fact I think it would be a nice touch that around his people (not normandy crew) that he does show more of his inner workings but only do it in certain situations.
Having seen Femshep in a lot of cutscenes I also agree that Hale sometimes comes across as putting a little bit too much emotion into certain scenes which didnt' require it. However I also think Mark didn't sound as PO'd as he should have with TIM when he some of the crap he pulled.

Ive made my contribution to the derailment of the thread. If its going to be locked, seeing as how I wasnt one of the ones to start it, Ill at least take my part in finishing it.
Clearly I have a strong impact on these impressionable youngsters. If I was intending to be a troll, instead of just someone who doesnt care about their childish disgareements, Id be very happy with my work.
Instead Im just happy that they value my opinion so highly that they choose to attack it, and attack it with irrelevant nonsense.

"I dont like that the femshep character is burdened with those who play solely for immature lesbian sex, among many other issues, and it is why I choose not to play and therefore disagree with the article in question" is one facet of an overall post that was on topic, until you chose to attack it with immature spam.
Nice job trying to twist it to your benefit though.

you not liking dogs in and of itself is not a complaint, but when you give voice to that fact, it contextually becomes one.
for example:
"I just got a new puppy, I love him."
"I don't like dogs."
what a wet blanket
when dink was explaining his dislike of femshep, he listed off complaints about her. complaining about things isn't always a negative thing, dink just took it the wrong way.
but i like that you're disregarding the definition of the word in order to argue with me
it's cute

1. Mark Meer's voice acting is not nearly so bad as some FemSheppers make it out to be.
2. Some FemSheppers are getting it on with Liara. They could be doing this because they like girl-on-girl action, or because they think Kaidan is boring. Either way, so what?
3. Straight guys can play as FemShep without getting confused. Trust me.

I told you I was going to get pics to contribute to the spam that started after you bashed Fem Shep and then that one user bashed the hell out of Male Shep. If we wanted to see yet another righteous man bolstering his troops, we’d watch Braveheart, play Halo or just roll up a ManShep. Watching FemShep, and hearing Jennifer Hale, doing this bolstering is almost unsettling. It shifts our expectations and moves us to the edge of our seats. And we love her for it.
This?
This is what my intitial post is partly about.
The experience written about in that quote is meaningless to me. It isnt about shifting my expetations or anything. Its about a character, for in game and out game reasons, I fundamentally do not like to play, and so I choose maleshep instead, like a great deal many other people.
Hooray for roleplaying freedom, that there are those who can choose.
Just dont expect an article like this to be written and not recieve contrary views, like some people in this thread clearly.
