If we wanted to see yet another righteous man bolstering his troops, we’d watch Braveheart, play Halo or just roll up a ManShep. Watching FemShep, and hearing Jennifer Hale, doing this bolstering is almost unsettling. It shifts our expectations and moves us to the edge of our seats. And we love her for it.
This?
This is what my intitial post is partly about.
The experience written about in that quote is meaningless to me. It isnt about shifting my expetations or anything. Its about a character, for in game and out game reasons, I fundamentally do not like to play, and so I choose maleshep instead, like a great deal many other people.
Hooray for roleplaying freedom, that there are those who can choose.
Just dont expect an article like this to be written and not recieve contrary views, like some people in this thread clearly.

So you are giving up and acknowledging that the CORE of my post, the ultimate reasoning behind it was no a complaint, but an expression of a contrary view to what the article puts forward?
My post is not a complaint, thats what I have been saying since the beginning. Youve whittled this argument down to "you said 'do not like' and that is a complaint", and I concede that. It doesnt change anything though.

Thanks kraidy, that pretty much proves one of the initial points I made that started this whole business.

dink, i respect your views. i think it's a-okay that you don't like to play as femshep. i just really don't like that you ran her over by saying that insecurities surround her and that she's a despicable character for being a "bad ass chick" and that any possible relationship she could have with liara is immature because it's lesbian.
that's so inflammatory and is honestly the only reason so many people are jumping on you right now. i understand that the way you're arguing is just a defense mechanism, but surely, deep down, you understand that this is why people react to you the way they do, and you understand that the way you expressed your opinion is just flawed.

No, its not. I can see why you would want to deny that, since your entire flimsy argument against me hinges on it, but I think you can see that maybe two sentences max mention the optional aspect for a lesbian Shepard. My post is actually about disagreeing with the article in question and not being a femshep player myself.
Nice try though.

Part of my post was deliberately written as to mirror some of the views here expressed towards maleshep, but ultimately the point of the post remains unchanged. It contains some language likely to revoke a response, I can acknowledge that, but I dont limit the language I use to save the oversensitive feelings of others.
You seem to be trying to apply a good deal of reason to what until shortly was a spiraling, off topic spamfest of bickering.
Surely you, now applying reason as you do, can look back on the post as A) on topic, and
I dont get into discussions over people who claim femsheps voicework is the pinnacle of awesome while malesheps sucks. I just reverse the claim, and leave it at that. Much as I have done here.
The article is a glowing review of why the author thinks femshep is awesome. I wrote a small post turning that on its head, expressing a view of why femshep isnt awesome for me.
Again, if there is still a problem here, I could really use a "DEAL WITH IT" Shepard....

that's not what my argument's been at all -- your straw man turned it into that and i started arguing semantics because it was kinda funny (actually really funny). i said i didn't agree with your complaints about femshep and you jumped on the word "complaint" thinking that i was meaning it in a derogatory fashion when i wasn't.

it doesn't matter what percentage of your post was filled with inflammatory things, all that matters is that some of it was. i'm disagreeing with your take on feminism and lesbians, even if that wasn't the focus of your entire post. i don't care what your point was at the core of it, because you destroyed it entirely by dropping an assload of ridiculous subthoughts along the way, which is what people have been trying to tell you.

I don't care if it ******'s you off. His arguemnt would have been fine if one whole paragraph was not about how lesbian hawtnes and how awkaward it is for liara's romance. Readh is post. It's one paragraph, this not a backhanded comment, it's Dink dising the femshep players again, which he always has.krimesh wrote...

Have you been reading this thread? Have you seen how much of it is actually composed of inflammatory things? After actually reading much of the thread myself, I made a concious decison to insert a few of my own.
Go back from page one and read all the way through to my point.
You can disagree with a few choice sentences here and there, but can you honestly deny that my intial post was an on topic expression on the article in question and a series of given reasons why I am no femshep player?
Im sure many of you could have tried to debate the point rationally and effectively, but I think its clear as soon as the post was made where the majority of peoples intentions lay, and it wasnt in "pointing out offensive subthoughts".
Im sorry you didnt like my wholly effective articulation of why I do not like nor play as femshep and therefore disagree with the article - I just wish you had chosen to express yourself differently. I would have very much been open to you expressing yourself much in the same way I did to try and start a debate on what the article is putting forward.
You didnt though.

Go look at the liara thread and go back a couple of months, he fracturd the whole thread with his bashing of Femshep, he got himself kicked out of a couple of groups because of his bashing, many of us on the old forums rember his bashing. He has always bashed and making one paragraph about Femshep and lesbian hawtness is something Dink knows would ****** off people, it happen. If he didn't put the lesbian stuff in there, his arguement would have been fine, I don't agree with it but his arguement was fine, until that paragrapth.

I think your whole argument is nullified by this question: What self respecting guy wouldn't want to play an intergalactic space lesbian?
Thats from the comments section of the article.
Im sincerely sorry that stating a known fact of player attitudes causes you and other fans such distress, but thats tough. It didnt take long, and before you know it someone cracks a joke or expresses an honest player opinion that is in line with the above quote. Ive seen it countless times.
Im allowed to take that into account in my views on the femshep character, and there isnt a damn thing you can do about it other than kick and scream, which youve done a very good job doing so far (yet again I should add).

i also never disagreed with you not liking femshep
what i did disagree with
is your offensive, offensive comments
about lesbians
and women
which you're not really owning
just adopting this attitude of
"well, everyone else was doing it, so that makes my retardedness less full of autism."
anyway, you know what you said was a waste of post, so

Too much juvenile smack talking going on in here. Here's the truth:
1. Mark Meer's voice acting is not nearly so bad as some FemSheppers make it out to be.
2. Some FemSheppers are getting it on with Liara. They could be doing this because they like girl-on-girl action, or because they think Kaidan is boring. Either way, so what?
3. Straight guys can play as FemShep without getting confused. Trust me.
