And you are not alone. Apparently it's because we're really into lesbians and mistake insulting stereotypes for empowerment. Which is kind of funny, because I found FemShep approached with some maturity as opposed to an overt empowerment goal. She's a Marine, and a damn good one. That the fact FemShep is female is incidental to her role is exactly why it works for me. Is she Ripley, the iconic kick-ass female sci-fi hero of my childhood? No, and no-one else ever will be. But she's damn well more than good enough.kraidy1117 wrote...

Oh. And she got attached to Garrus last time, so either this "lesbian fetish" thing is way off or I really need to work on my gender identification skills.

Same here, although I've played both. The Talimance is the best romance in the game after all. My favorite romances as FemShep are Liara and Thane.
Mark Meer gets a bad rap, btw. His voice acting is fine, just not as good as Jennifer Hale's.

So just because most males prefer to play as a MALE we are insecure? Sound logic.

I think Liara's romance is the best and I simply can't stand Meer when he does romance dialog. He is good at renagade lines and some paragon lines, but when it comes to romance dialog, I just can't stanbd it. Big reason I ship Femshep and liara romance, simply because I love Liara and Hale does a good job with the romance dialog.clennon8 wrote...

It's fine if you prefer to play as a male Shep, but as soon as you start intimating that guys who like to play as FemShep must be gay or something, that smacks of insecurity on your part. Plenty of straight guys like playing as FemShep.

This. It's the same with men who do the Male romances, I love Thane and Kai, that does not make me gay, it means that that some of us enjoy good characters and writing.clennon8 wrote...

dw man dink is a dude (it's actually really obvious,)
and no, there's no double standard. you're pooping out of your mouth a lot by saying that
first of all,
you're assuming
that all women who disagree with something a man says
have the same ~world view~
and secondly,
there is backlash at the testosterone fueled comment coming from you, so your entire argument is ludicrous,
i mean
are you even thinking,
you're sitting here screaming double standard
because supposedly no one takes offense to females screaming testosterone
and yet
here you are
i just
i don't get it man
lmao what dink said though
is just the funniest thing,
like, really? what about femshep is insecure?
do you guys not understand that femshep and maleshep have the exact same lines.............................i
i can't do this anymore
no wait,
i'm still so offended by the lesbian comment that i can barely think
dink do you have a problem with space lesbians what is your deal
What's with the horrible formatting and grammar errors? Are they truly necessary to belittle my opinion without any supporting evidence?
Nowhere did Dinkamus say what gender they are, so an assumption that they are male is just that, an assumption. Also, I specifically targeted FemShep players who are probably women (can't make that assumption though). They are the ones who frequently respond to any anti-FemShep comment claiming it's "testosterone fueled." They are the ones I have a problem with, not women in general. Although Dinkamus may have used some rather unfortunate language, they are probably like me, fed up with misandry masquerading as feminism and they see that in FemShep. I don't see FemShep in quite those terms, though I understand where they are coming from.
And by the way, when I say "backlash," I mean a widespread backlash that the majority of people participate in. If a man told a woman that her argument was "estrogen fueled," his sexism would be recognized by everyone and his credibility ruined. However, the reverse is not true, hence the double standard.
i don't feel like i need to push the shift key in order to impress you, babe
i know dink is a guy
it wasn't assumption (although perhaps on the part of the other poster it was, but this is a non-issue to begin with)
because on the other hand, a testosterone fueled post doesn't have to be made by a man
,
"Although Dinkamus may have used some rather unfortunate language, they are probably like me, fed up with misandry masquerading as feminism and they see that in FemShep."
see, that was the issue. his wording was obtrusively sexist and homophobic, which was why it garnered the response that it did. you're acknowledging that his wording was offensive by saying that it was "unfortunate," so i don't understand why you're defending it. see, it wasn't just any anti-femshep comment, it was an offensive one, as you've so pointedly agreed. what he said and what you're assuming he meant, by the way, are two entirely different things. and no, to clarify, "kick ass women" and "insecurity" are in no way a part of the feminist agenda.
your backlash argument is still v lol so,
i'm dismissing it
