I'm glad the option exists to play as either gender. I slightly prefer playing as FemShep because I happen to like kick-ass chicks. I have ever since I saw Aliens. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of my all-time favorite shows. I kinda wish they had feminized FemShep a little more, to be honest. I can do without the crotch shots ala Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct.



I've also played as dude Shep several times, which is a perfectly enjoyable experience. Meer's voice acting doesn't bother me a bit. And I get to romance Tali and Miri, which satisfies my hetero male urges.

notwithstanding Dink's post derailing this thread, the above one made me laugh out loud - wow: first look up the meaning of the words "subjective" and "objective" before using them and getting all confused. then take a reality check - the part i bolded describes Hale's performance perfectly in places, as evidence i would cite the little "chat" in the sky-car before the end of garrus' loyalty mission.

Lol, failboat of a derailment? Hypocrisy much? This is exactly the kind of crap that my post was talking about. Its others who derailed it, and now your whining over it.

Its not about enjoying femshep as a personal experience like the majority of players do regardless of their Shepards gender, its about a certain amount taking the femshep character and childishly overemphasising it.

Yeah, I agree its a shame femshep doesnt get more marketing material, but Bioware paid for a real life persons likeness, so they should get the maximum out of it. Allowing that to cause the ridiculous amounts of insecurity it does it completley unnecessary. I dont see Shepard either when I look at the default. People should get over it.

the casual fan is easily the biggest market segment - 60% is not unreasonable at all. as i said you couldn't rationally take any forum poll over BW's own data. and where in the hell did i mention removing femshep? or liara at all - wth has she got to do with anything?

Thats called stating a fact. Go read the comments section of the article its self. See how long it takes for some moron to crack a joke about "teh awesomeness of space lesbians". Dont take it out on me because your in denial about the facts. The reason why there is only a one sided take on same sex romances in the ME games is because its largely catering to the "hawt lesbians" demographic.

both voice actors sound like this at times

i'd say that it's due to the directing as opposed to their actual ability, because i've heard both of them sound perfectly emotive in other scenes that i'm not going to attribute to fluke.

So some immature louts do it for the lesbian action, that means all femshep players do it? No Dink, you did it to get a rise out of people, like you do alot. Majoirty of us play Femshep because Meers VA in terms of the romance dialog sucks, Hale makes it beleiveable thus we enjoy it more. Say what ever you want that lets you sleep at night, your not fooling anyone else.

yes i am aware of this, what pisses me off is the impression (that goes hand in hand with militant femshep players) that Hale's performance is outstanding whilst Meer's is poor, when often-times the reverse is true (as anyone who has played even that section i just referred to will attest). Hale's performances in other games have been superb and she rightly has a fantastic reputation/body of work, but she blatantly ain't right for shepard.

Heh, as always kraidy you fail at intelligence. Where did I say people only play femshep for that reason? I stated the fact that its a common reason, and some like you choose to deny it in a very melodramatic fashion, and parade about how awesome you think femshep is to boot. And not everyone likes this.

Pretty sure this thread was derailed because of the femshep fanboys condescending Mark Meer's voice acting to such a ridiculous degree. If some of you didn't have such a superiority complex, this thread would still be on topic. Both VA's have their pros and cons, period.
