Soundtrack has been "Coming Soon" for 8 months. "Atmospheric", released 3 days ago, not up, either...

On the 8th of September, 2010, Bioware released an additional ME2 soundtrack, "Mass Effect 2: Atmospheric". It appears the release has been made exclusively via iTunes http://itunes.apple....ric/id388908972
^This has not been made noticed on Bioware store yet...

Currently, the (ordinary) Original Video Game Score is available via Amazon.com & iTunes in digital format. Problem is, for anywhere outside the US or UK this digital media is not lawfully marketable to us.

My problem is: I am still physically impeded from owning a copy of the Soundtrack as I live in New Zealand. I have been patiently watching the Bioware store page where it explicitly has reminded me for eight months now that the soundtrack is "Coming Soon to the BioWare Store!" http://biowarestore....ct-2-soundtrack

Does Bioware want my money or not?! :crying:

N.B. I would 100% support a physical release, as there would be no problem purchasing the soundtrack via Amazon.com...

Same problem here in the Netherlands. Amazon and Rhapsody will only sell the Atmospheric soundtrack if you're in the US. I understand the legal reasons, but there has to be a way to sell this stuff to, you know, the remaining 95% of the world? I don't know about iTunes because I'm not installing software I do not want just to be able to download music.

Yup. It sucks!! We are unable to complete legal acquisition. IMHO, that is not fair...

The last hope is that the BioWare Store puts the damn thing up for sale!! Like it's said it would for the past 8 months!!

It's a blockbuster score alongside the likes of Assassin's Creed II: two soundtracks in such high demand; surely they are worthy of a physical release? :(

iTunes provides DRM protected media, which is immediately unattractive...

Amazon.co.uk disagrees.

But yes, as the above post said, a physical release is unlikely. All I can suggest is to cross your fingers and hope or find a digital supplier who can sell in your country and purchase it from there.

Not true. Itunes store carried DRMd media initially (just like Amazon did, IIRC), but hasn't done in years. It uses the newer AAC encoding instead of MP3, which I suppose might give some people trouble (though nothing wrong with the format itself).

Considering the three euro pricepoint for the complete 'disc', I doubt that extra effort is going to be put into giving people multiple opportunities to buy it from different stores. If you plan on not using Itunes in the future, you're going to find a lot of indie releases like this to be outside of your reach...

^ stardazzled, I'm not pushing for a physical release. I'm pushing for an international BioWare store release...

^ OnlyShallow89, yes I see now that Amazon.com & .uk now have Atmospheric up (it usually is a couple of days later than iTunes...)

^ Funker Shepard, is this a recent advancement?! Totally unbeknown to me! *goes to investigate iTunes*

It's been up a few weeks, if not longer. Edit: Oh, the date disagrees with me. Maybe it was up for pre-order or something.

Nope. I think it was about a year or two ago, perhaps a bit longer.

To me, this reads like wanting a physical release. Please excuse the misunderstanding.

edit: Atmospheric has been up Amazon.de (Germany) since September, 7th. So I honestly do not see why it shouldn't be up around the world, too.

^ I hope the thread title is succinct enough :P

Amazon.com supports only a handful of countries with their mp3 service; New Zealand, Australia and as Melancholic suggests, The Netherlands, are all unable to purchase digital content.

Btw, never mind, as I just completed acquisition via iTunes. The audio is only 256kbps which is less than adequate but I'll just have to listen to it on my travelling headphones where I can't tell any difference. Considering there is no other way I am able to legally purchase the soundtrack... :(

Of course I would still buy a physical release if there ever was one, or if it comes up on BioWare store in 320kbps I would face a tough choice...

What's the difference between 256 kbps and 320 kbps? I don't hear any difference.

And I'd like a physical release, too.

Other than that, there's only one more thing I'm wondering...
If you purchase tracks over iTunes, do they get saved on your PC so you can listen to them in Windows Media Player?

Very little beyond file size. You'd need good equipment to properly hear the difference.

Yes, I think. Perhaps. I don't know if the filetype iTunes uses is compatible with WMP, however. iTunes would require you to install, well, iTunes so it half negates that problem.

Well, I do have a amplifier which is linked to two speakers... And they're kinda big. I have music with 192 kbps, too, but that doesn't matter I guess...

I have iTunes, since I need it for my iPod touch (without iTunes, I cannot put music on my iPod). So yeah, that's a problem solved. ^_^

Size doesn't matter, it's their quality that matters.

All I know is that they're... well... looking at the size, I'd think that they aren't new...

I don't have any clue about the quality of my speakers.
