- Thane for me, I use him very often and Throw Field is much better than rank 3 Throw + rank 1 Shredder crap.

Jacob does NOT have Barrier until AFTER his loyalty mission.

I'm aware of that, hence the "use him until whenever it is his loyalty mission is about to come up and then do LotSB and simply respec him" portion of the post.

To be fair, Zaeed's inferno grenade isn't that bad. It's a far cry from incineration blast but considering his other powers, it's a choice between this and concussive. His best power isn't even affected.

It works all right in the early game, but its damage can't keep up with the increasing levels and defenses of enemies near the end.  With Advanced Training, we now have the option to max it out for, say, Horizon, then retrain him for those geth missions on which he shines later on in the game.

Thane without a doubt benefits.

Regarding Zaeed, I actually like inferno grenade, and usually max it anyway.

Garrus - only if you don't need him to have an ammo power (if using a squad ammo on shepard).

Oh yes, and Jack (if you have no use for warp ammo).

I got much usage out of this for a lot of characters.

Jacob, no more barrier = him being able to use pull when ever i want, best team mate for my sentinel and adept since i want the pull for warp explosions and i don't want to use a squad ammo power myself.

Garrus and Thane, felt unnecessary to have an ammo power on these which is inferior to squad incendiary ammo or squad cryo ammo which are the ones i usually use unless i fight synthetics. So i maxed out their other 3 powers.

Also on my first 2 saves i had made some characters wrong, for example no unstable warp on Miranda and not maxed reave on Samara.

Mordin - nice to have the option of maxing both incinerate and cryo blast.

Jack - same thing with Jack maxing shockwave and pull.

Garrus and Zaeed are situational to me... if you're an engineer/sentinel/adept and don't use squad ammo, then their ammo powers are useful. I find Garrus' +25% power boost is generally better on AP ammo than on concussive shot. Zaeed can either be tailored to fight specifically against either collectors, synthetics, or shielded humans.

Thane - definately get rid of shredder ammo.

Jacob - yes, disable that damn barrier.

Thane, Garrus and Jack benefit greatly because I can max out their initial 3 powers and not waste points on their sub-par ammo powers.

Mordin can max out his initial 3 too. I never really used neural shock - just seemed like cryo blast but with a longer cooldown.

Grunt, Zaeed and Jacob may benefit also because they have ammo powers that may get maxed out initially. If I'm playing a class without an ammo power, I'll leave them with the squad version. But if I have my own ammo powers, I'll respec them and max out their other stuff since I've got squad ammo covered. Jacob and Grunt gain extra survivability, and Zaeed gets a better grenade.

True, it doesn't keep up well. On the other hand, the only other thing Zaeed has to spend his cooldown on is Concussive, hence I'm a bit more forgiving of it. Disruptor ammo and good weapons are what Zaeed brings to the table, so anything else is just gravy and Concussive doesn't noticabley get better after putting more than one point in Concussive.

As a soldier with squad cryo, it was nice being able to respec entirely out of loyalty ammo powers with Thane and Garrus. That one wasted point used to always taunt me.

I for one am just glad there's now an official way to respec your squad mates.

I suppose not.  It does have a niche use against weakened Husks though, in the AOE form.

In general, being able to reassign powers allows you to do a lot more with favorite squad members without having their loyalty yet, since before you would need to save points until you had their bonus skill. It's a welcome addition.
