...or is everyone satisfied with what BioWare has created for us so far?

I know, this is a contentious issue, because any talk of new squadmates often connotes that some of the old ones will be going away. I believe that BioWare will most likely create some new squadmates (though not as many as they did for ME2).

What archetypes do you want these characters to fall into? The writing and ultimate direction of these characters is for BioWare to decide, but we can still discuss this, can we?

ME2 had a whole ton of new squadmates. And plenty of them receive quite a bit of love. Mordin, Legion, to name a few examples.

I want a batarian squad mate so we can get the species properly fleshed out.

The answer is still no

There's a reason I did all of those loyalty missions.

If BioWare needs to introduce some shiny new characters as squadmates for ME3, then it should be with NPCs we met in ME2 or ME1. It's the end of the trilogy; make the game count.

I can see maybe 2 new ones but thats it. Two ME1 squadmates guaranteed to survive for ME3, two ME2 squadmates were required to survive the suicide mission weren't they? So bare minimum of 6 squadmates to choose from in ME3. Hopefully everyone you carried from ME1 and ME2 will all be returning to the squad.

I don't need no new Squadmates. BioWare should just continue to flesh them out (like they did in LotSB).

Yea I would hope any "new" ppl would be those we already know like Gianna Parasini or Shiala or whoever.

I'm sure that any new squadmates Bioware might choose to add would be awesome. But I'd be happy with no new squadmates being added and just getting the team from ME1 + ME2 back.

(Though I do harbour a lingering wish for a batarian squadmate...)

IIRC a while ago someone stated that there maybe a potential squadmate in ME3 that was in ME2. So I would imagine that to be someone like Aria, Shiala, Wreav or Kal'Reegar. Those I would be happy with because we've already seen them. To some extent it makes sense as they would kind of be like the 'Lando' of the Trilogy.

At least with them we have had some of their story already so no new 'character building' is really required.

If they can't bring back the ME2 squadmates because they can die, then Shiala and Kal will not be used since they can die.

I want to see all new squadmates just to witness how BioWare keeps pumping out amazing characters.

Yeah, but that means that might end up appearing in just ME3, then. The trilogy ends with ME3, after all.

I want Kaidan Alenko back. But he isn't really new. (He's just super awesome.)

But other than that--no new squadmates. I would much rather see Bioware develop the characters that they have already created.

This.  All of this.  We have enough squadmates (ME1 + ME2).  We don't NEED any more.  Let this final act in the trilogy, and all our decisions and choices made up until it, mean something.

However, I think they're going to have new ones.  Casey mentioned it in passing in an old interview at some convention that they were considering it.  If they go that route, I hope these new squadmates would just be potential "filler" for those who went out and got squadmates killed in ME2 and aren't meant to be a replacement for the ME2 squad.  For example...Wreav would be to Wrex as a new ME3 squadmate would be to a surviving ME2 squadmate.  Just filler for an "empty slot."
