This thread has enlightened me. Admiration for the Warden and Hawke can't overlap, it's mutually exclusive. Here I thought I could enjoy them both, but they're pressuring me into a committed relationship.
They're both at adore, it's time to choose.
I'm going to have to choose Hawke. At least she can hold a conversation.

1st, I was majorly underwhelmed by what was done with Commander Shepard in ME 2. Maybe a fresh character and fresh perspective will help avoid that mess.
2nd Grey Wardens don't really get to die old and happy. I'd rather leave my Wardens on a relatively high note than have him last seen turning into a ghoul and heading for the Deep Roads.
3rd An Age is a hundred years. If we are to take the name of the series somewhat literally, we are going to participate in major events over the entirety of the "Dragon Age" which implies we'll have to see things through several heroes' eyes anyway.
Will Hawke be fun to play? Dunno. A "named" character is more restrictive than one you can build more or less from scratch. But I did enjoy playing as The Nameless One, J C Denton, Geralt of Rivia, and Michael Thorton. So there is precedent.
The framed narrative is actually quite intriguing to me. Obsidean pulled it off really well in Alpha Protocol. If a similar method of decision and consequences is used in ME 2, I will be one happy camper.

Right... and saying "DIE HAWKE" and such shows your love of the Warden oh-so much.
Did someone say die Hawke!? *lifts knife*
He's, like, what, four? So it's okay.
No it's not.

While I'm a bit bummed about the single origin (hope Bioware does this in other titles!), I am glad we're getting a new hero to play, for a couple of reasons.

Just to point out DAO starts in about the middle of that age.

I am absolutely not lying: My four-year-old nephew beat Dragon Age: Origins, by himself, except the puzzles, or on the occasion where he couldn't follow the map correctly.

Yes, you missed the earlier posts that led up to his comment. It all starts with OriginIsBest's tendency to say "Die, Hawke, die die die" or something to that effect in almost every post. See previous page (I think) - or maybe it's two-three pages ago now.
And I'm watching a zombie movie, so there's that too. While the earlier discussions were sort of interesting, things seem to have ended up in the crapper mostly.

I picked up the box and started trying to tell him what the names of the creatures and characters were on it, since I figured he never picked it up, and started with "And that's the dragon" and sassypants interrupts me and says "No, that's the Archdemon. And that's a yogurt--"
"You mean ogre?"
"Oh, yeah, yeah, ogre..."
He also used to call Alistair, Duncan, for some unknown reason, but now calls him Alistair.
