In all honesty I thought that Kotor (the series) has extremely crappy characterization to the point of being stupid... But that's just my opinion. After buying KOTOR2 (love of SW franchise) I had to give it up halfway through, as the gameplay also sucked bigtime... DA had a comparitively better gameplay, way better story and nice characterization.
This I have no experience with. At present I have no Wardens handy who accepted Morrigan's ritual, so I'm redoing Aedan. My Kallian had sacrificed herself, and I understand Morrigan being upset and tight-lipped (self-sedating fanboy syndrome here). But if she keeps it vague to Aedan as well, she's getting a stab to the kidney. Now, I am not attached to any one of the characters as much as I want to finish the story.... The story of Morrigan was supposed to give us some new info in Witch-hunt (according to the adverts) but instead it simply created new problems/questions.... This seems to me as simply poor, hasty and shoddy business strategy to wriggle some easy money from Morrigan fans...

I do find myself wishing that DA:O's characters and story had been a part of the game that DA2 looks like its becoming, though. I'd have preferred a very deep focus on a single origin and a voiced protagonist in the first game.
Shock! Horror! I know.
But, yeah, for srs. Origins had too many origins to give them their due, IMO.

I will say that I found Witch Hunt very disappointing, especially in light of how excellent Lair of the Shadow Broker was.
It was just not a fitting send off for my Warden. While I understand that it might have been a little tough to program something with enough options (like all of the original DA:O characters) since for some the assets would never be used due to characters dying or leaving, I think the effort should have been made.
Rather than whom we were stuck with, I would have liked to have had one last adventure with Lelliana, Allisitair, etc... to find our lost friend in an more epic adventure. Also, a nice closure or sorts to my love affair with my red headed bard.
We didn't get that. I understand that BW wants to push on to DA:2 but something grander and more fitting would have been nice.
Oh well. Still looking foward to DA2 although I hope that BW restores dual wielding to warriors. Makes no sense otherwise, no matter how much some people try to defend it.

While I had no qualms with Witch Hunt, really, I think Origins was the perfect ending for the Warden. I'd have preferred the expansions and DLC to have focused on different characters irrespective of whether the Warden was living or dead.TiaraBlade wrote...

Dave, while she looks somewhat attractive, and may have been a hottie when she was a regular human, all thoughts of that go away when I think about the fact that you can get worse things than an STD if one tapped that in god knows what holes there are to... um... put the lamp post in.

I see in your future a lot of snide remarks.
EDIT: On a serious note, I'm disappointed the rest of the Wardens don't get that same sense of "Yeah, I'm done" that you got by stepping through the mirror, but I've completely accepted Hawke is the protagonist.

I would think people who didn't (or couldn't) follow Morrigan through the mirror might have more room to complain. The DLC really didn't offer much to people who didn't romance her... but assuming we see the consequences of those decisions down the line I think it was a decent send off.

And Hawke's not a terrible name... but I admit I'd have preferred "Halke" as a spelling.

I don't think that's it. Back when I played DA:O I thought that it was a well executed version of a very old story. I liked the political aspects of it, but even so, battling against an unrelenting evil has been done to death.Dynamomark wrote...
That's because 1) Bioware/EA are pulling the right strings in their marketing; 2) by now you've probably heard learned about warden to death.Gill Kaiser wrote...
To me, Hawke seems to be shaping up into a much more interesting protagonist than the Warden. Irrespective of the whole issue of the main character being voiced, and having a set race, I just think that Hawke's story sounds more interesting than the Warden's. I like the idea of rising to power over a decade, and playing someone so important to the future history of Thedas.
Hawke's story reminds me of Conan. Rising to power through the strength of my blade/magic is an epic premise for a storyline, especially when it's in a setting in which politics plays such an important part.
I agree with the above. Yes, I loved DA:O and would love to see more DLC for my Warden, including a truly epic send off. That said, something besides stopping the end of the world as we know it would be a nice break.

I just let Loghain die killing the Archdemon. Partially because he deserved to die, partly because his actions before the events of Dragon Age: Origins earned him the right to die with some honor and dignity.
I *would* have done that except that Riordan didn't mention the little detail that a warden needs to die to kill the arch demon and only hints at it when Allistair's sword is about an inch from Loghain's neck! Unfortunately, Biwoare didn't give my Warden the option to cool Allistair down and convince him to listen to Riordan and thus we could have had the best of all worlds: Allistair alive as king, my Warden still alive, no god child, AND the death of a traitor.
WIN-WIN!!!
Thanks Riordan.

On another hand, I am wondering how fun it would have been to play Dragon Age 2 with a level 34-35 warden right at the beginning? How could they have made it fun knowing you can pretty much annihilate anything? The only other game that I know that did a high level game(27+) was Neverwinter Nights: Infinite Dungeon, which was pretty much a dungeon crawl. Not that fun playing more then once.
