My main hard drive recently died and I had to replace it, which involved having to reinstall both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. I lost all previous Mass Effect 2 save data and half of the last Mass Effect career, however I was able to save both fully completed previous Mass Effect careers with which I had killed Saren and completed the game. Mass Effect 2 doesn't seem to be able to see either of these careers and I am unable to import the characters.  I figured it might have something to do with the fact that after reinstalling the game might not actually acknowledge that I have finished the game so just now I went in and reloaded the most recent save from one of those two careers and replayed the battle with Saren. Mass Effect 2 still cannot see a single import career.

Any help?

You have to transport the files between the games yourself, a step you may have forgotten since installing ME2 all those months ago. The ME2 Config utility will do it for you once you point it to the ME1 save directory.



If that's done and ME2 still isn't seeing them, test if you can start a ME1 New Game+ with those export files.
