I say 38. This is juding from Kaiden's age, in ME1 Kaiden mentions he is 32 and in ME2 the Bioware website says Kaiden is 35 on his profile. This means the plot of ME1 lasted 1 year. I imagine Shepard to be older then Kaiden, but only by roughly 3 years, making Shepard 35 in ME1.

What do you think?

Shepard is 32 if memory serves to be correct.

28. He was dead for two years, he didn't age but to avoid awkward questions, he would say he's 30/31.

Being dead for two years doesn't magically change his birthdate. Don't see why people have this irrational fear of using his actual birthdate to determine his age, as if saying he's 31 years old makes him a decrepit old man. Physically, he'd probably keep up with an athlettic 20 year old of today anyway. That doesn't make him 20 either.

and plus the way he died took place one month after the citadel attack so my guess would be mid 30s so 32 the most if you include the me2 attack

Shep's 31, 32 maybe depending on how BW calculates the ME2 span of events.

shepard is technically 31 by the second game but due to spending two years dead, biologically shepard is 29.

By what do you judge his physical age? Did you think his heart and brain were completely dead up until the point Miranda woke him to move his butt? For all we know, they got his body running again after six months and simply spent the rest of that time reconstructing bones, muscles, skin, brain wave patterns.

Let's see

he was born in 2154 and it is now 2186

Shepard is therefore 32 chronologically but we subtract 2 years due to him being a charred corpse for that time.

Physically yes. Mentally no

although there really isn't that much difference between a 30 and a 32 year old

FemShep: 29 at the latest, as in: that's the oldest she could be based on the model used. I do not believe Femsheps body can be passed off for 32 in its present ingame model. The tax on a womans body for the kind of activity she undertakes would be absolutely devastating...

Well, if you choose the third option in the "complex" bar of the creation menu, your shepard will look like he's 60 years old xD

28/29 in ME1, and 30/31 in ME2 pretty much.

Also, remember how humans age better than they used to. For instance, Kahlee Sanders in the novels is in her late forties in Ascension and Retribution, and yet is commented in both to physically look closer to her late 20's.

2154 CE

4.11.2154: Shepard is born.

ME1 is in 2183
ME2 is in 2185

So 29 during ME1 and chronologically 31 during ME2

ME1: 29
ME2: 32
ME3: (probably older, 36 meabye)

Next time, study Mass Effect's time-line OP before making a thread like this. Just my advice.

Actually, Shepard is phisically equivalent to Grunt or more. He was strong in ME1 and even more in ME2 thanks to the upgrades he mentions to TIM at the beginning of the game from the Lazarus Project.

Even more if you researched upgrades for him, wich make Shepard even stronger (remember the unbreakable bone one?).
