Got it going.
Here's what I did, in exact order.
1. Exited EADM. (I had previously cleared the cache, restarted it to no effect. Clearing EADM's cache may be required, however.)
Check the system tray on your taskbar too. It doesn't just close.
2. Uninstalled ME from the windows control panel, when asked, only kept save games.
3. Restarted EADM. It finally had the green "start" icon that it should have had in the first place.
4. Clicked to start the download, just in case it wanted to disappear once I had installed the game.
5. Installed the game back where it had been. Same path as before, though I doubt that matters.
6. The download was finished, but I reinstalled BDtS first.
7. Installed Pinny from EADM's "install" button.
8. Happy ending
This is just my guess, but it looks as though you MUST uninstall ME before you re-install Pinny again. I think that it may be tied to the deauthorization that you get when an uninstall occurs.
That means that if you can't uninstall your old install for any reason, you must install ME, uninstall it (after installing EADM), then reinstall it.
Or it could have been an old file in the game's directory, but you wouldn't think this would mess up a "sophisticated" piece of software like EADM.

My fist... It seems to be made of ham...
