Witch Hunt:

This DLC has everything! A beautiful yet highly spirited noble elf woman! A *slightly* feminine human mage with a funny name! A Dog that is truly your best friend! Oh, and let me tell you about the story...
It's a story that is so deep! So moving! The flowing love and humour...there is such chemistry between all in your party! It flows like pure white magic! It will force you to forget the handsome Alistair! Forget the crafty Leliana! Toss aside Duncan like the wannabe he clearly was! Trust me! By the ending of this DLC you will never be the same as you once were!!

Tears flow as I try to recall all my experiences!..How can a mere human even try to put it into mere words!! Is it even possible? Bioware Gods! Forgive me! For trying to explain the pureness of this DLC has causes me physical pain! I have tried and failed! Oh the Humanity! I am so unworthly!! It's simply not possible in todays ways of gaming understanding! Yet even through this pain I do remember all the bitter sweet character through out this segement of the game! Think of watching Gods dance across a darkened summers night with burning diamonds in the background. Go! Buy this DLC! You will be touch with such joy that all the pure fibers of your SOUL will cry out like a **** in the night for more!!

This DLC wasn't made by mere humans!!!

It was made from the GODs of DLCs!!!!

What? Wait...never mind...This DLC sucked...Move along...Nothing to see here...Trust me on this...

My experience with the WH DLC was conditioned by the DR bug... but having said that: the DLC is not bad, and it's not great either. It's not just money grabbing, but it's not even what it could and should be considering the material.

The biggest disappointment is that it does not answer a single question about Morrigain (I understand that mirrors, flemeth and so on remain vague, since they seem to be important for DA2 and other games...). Well, it's fun and all to fill the gaps with your imagination but sometime you have to throw a bone to your players and that DLC seems perfect... instead, it felt mostly a set up for DA2. And it should have been marketed that way.

So, I would advice WH only to pl

I'm glad I waited. $7 for an hour long bug-ridden DLC with little dialogue and even less Morrigan herself? No thanks. Bioware and David Gaider should be ashamed of themselves. Fool me once, shame on me (DA: Awakening), fool me twice, no way. Although there's enough people out there that will happily shell out $5-7 for DLC that's bug filled and short, let alone $40 for a bug-filled expansion pack. Just wait until DA2 is out. Given Bioware's track record of poor QA, I don't think so. It was fun while it lasted, but now on to other games.

It basically is the opposite of what they advertised, and more "thanks for the $7, buy DA2".

Up until the encounter with Morrigan I thought it was alright, re-used areas aside. The companions were interesting and you could see the story taking shape. But once you got to Morrigan it all just went downhill.

I bought Awakening, which was fun but too short, the story is pretty much over by the time you assemble your party and get the more fun gear. However, I've held off on the DLC namely because I don't like paying over the internets for things, but also because I'm waiting to see if Bioware will release a DLC pack with everything at a reduced price since they're really not worth the advertised price.

Similarly, I won't buy Dragon Effect on the first day (like I did for DAO & DAA) untill I see some credible reviews stating it's not a rushed cash-grab aimed at the console market.

I'm not going to be a "buy it on the first day fanboy" either.

I'll wait and watch the reviews as well.

I made the mistake of buying it on the first day. Don't. Just don't. Watch it on Youtube, you might get more enjoyment out of that then actually playing it.

If I can turn just one person away from buying it, I'll feel I did my job in life. WH actually made me wish they stopped completely after Origins. That bad.

Wow, that would be the most dull life story anyone's ever heard.

Whats so bad about this DLC, I can understand disappointment, but people seem really angry!? Image IPB

Is this just people jumping on the bandwagon and getting all overfrenzied or does this game turn your Xbox into a darkspawn and kick you in the groin with the disc tray? Image IPB

It was only 45 mins long, no answers were given and it was extremely bugged. It was an advertisement for DA2. An advertisement you had to PAY FOR. Also, it's not canon, there's no save at the end.

Same US is now the best way to end Origins.

Which is one of the bugs. There's supposed to be a save there, but it doesn't fire. I believe that's one of the fixes in the patch they're working on.

I was VERY displeased with the DLC. Bioware has completely lost my future patronage.

CONFIRMED.  There is supposed to be a endgame save.

BioWare will get that fixed.  Not pleased by some of the endings...  but damn powerfully pleased by two of the endings.  Witch Hunt is worth it.

There is an element of frustration in that the "epilogue" DLC... the cherry on the top of the excellent Origins.... itself ends badly because of the crashing and the failure of the flags to set or be retrived or however they handle the choices...  It's like finishing a great dark fantasy book and on the last page there's a picture of a unicorn peeing love on people.  It just doesn't mesh and it kind of annoys people.  I was pretty ticked off, but I got over it once BioWare fessed up and started fixing it.  Other people just have no persepctive.

While the obvious bugs in Witch Hunt annoy everyone, that's far from its only problem.  Let me get this straight for those who are unclear: Witch Hunt would still suck even if it were completely bug-free.

The entire adventure is pointless.  That encounter with Morrigan is the reason people play this module.  But where does it lead?  After your encounter with Morrigan, there is absolutely nothing you know that you didn't already know before you started the adventure.  People have said this many times, but are absolutely correct: you're paying $7 for a DA2 advertisement.

The encounter with Morrigan is also terrible for other reasons.  The entire conversation is an exercise in vague responses and ambiguities.  It felt like talking to a politician.  Apparently, during the year or so after Morrigan left you, she mastered the art of Speaking Without Actually Saying Anything.

You know how you feel after you watch an awful movie?  Not only are you pissed about the money you paid, but that's 2 hours of your life you'll never get back.  That's the feeling I got after playing this...I felt robbed of my free time.

And then of course, there are the bugs.  The DR bug is terrible enough (considering this is actually, you know, non-trivial and actually important to players).  However, you also have the end-game autosave bug.  Umm, people do realize that this bug is present 100% of the time right?  As in, there is absolutely no player out there who actually gets an autosave after the final decision.  How does a bug with a 100% appearance rate make it past QA?

Bioware bought a lot of good faith with me after the Baldur's Gate series, and continued it with KOTOR.  I used to associate Bioware with quality, but this mess tells me Bioware is perfectly happy to release products of an abysmally low quality.  A poster above said it best: Witch Hunt is so bad it makes you wish the story had just ended with Origins.  This is the kind of crap that affects a company's reputation.

Simple enough for most:

                                                              *Don't buy this DLC*_____________________________________________

This isn't a anti-Bioware flameorgy...I beg you to READ the reviews.

Like spam...If you and I stop buying garbage...They'll be force to stop making garbage...

I actually liked Witch Hunt, even with the ONE bug (two if you count the no save at the end) that they are working on a fix for it was a fun hour and a half of playtime.

everything that could be said about this game under negative reviews has been stated here. and for those of you who liked it, i'm not sure what to say to you. you're either just a huge huge fan of DA:O, or you just aren't so bright.... i'd hope its the former

i'm glad i watched the thing on youtube instead of purchasing it

Has anybody ever thought that it was so shortened and buggy because they're working on uhhh....maybe a new game?

Limited budgets and time can do horrids to a game or DLC, just look at KOTOR 2 if it hadnt been rushed for the holidays gameplay wise it would've been better then the first. Bioware only released this the way it was because they had to.

Stop acting like Spoiled children, extra things like this could easily have never been released. Be thankful for what you get, or just dont get it. Criticizing is ok, but flat-out whining is pathetic.

So Bioware should be given a pass due to insufficient resources?  We should be thankful they bothered to throw together substandard work and sell it to us?  If we all adopted that attitude, substandard would eventually become the norm.  Besides there were plenty of other ways they could have handled this situation.  Hyping and overpricing an inferior product clearly wasn't the best option. They could have released it for free or to anyone who preordered DA2 or at a reduced price without the promise of some sort of reconciliation.   Anything would have been better than what they chose to do.
