They'll probably do that to compensate for the lack of a toolset on consoles.SPW0229 wrote...

However, i highly doubt that we'll get whole new lands to explore, let alone continents. Thats content for a Sequel, not for mere DLC. I guess there will be some new sidequests, maybe new characters and an enhanced wardens keep.
New Origins would be nice as well

They did say they would have 1 or 2 BIG expansions like new landmass. Prolly not as big as fereldan though mabby something like what WoW does.
They said one or two expansion sized DLCs, but I don't know if they mentioned a new landmass. I assume it would be like Shadows of Urintide or Hordes of the Underdark where you were in a new location, but travel was limited.

I have not read much about BioWare's plans but I bet they will follow Bethesda's lead with Fallout 3 since it appears to be easier to distribute and more lucrative to create small bits of content for $5 - $15 than large expansions. Expansions tend to be at least 50% of the size of the original game and usually are priced around there, too, which represents a risk to developers. If it bombs and does not sell well, they just wasted a lot of time. Plus, expansions are more often distributed through retail channels that take cuts, but downloadable content is distributed digitally so the publisher profits more (though sometimes it is also distributed at retail, though often delayed).
I would like to see more origins, classes, and new lands. Right now I feel that the number of origins is the largest issue as I expected a bit more flexibility - I definitely expected a human commoner or even a human bandit, and hope something like that is added.

I would also accept "kidney", "neck", "lungs" and "stomach" as alternative targets.
