Relatively early. She's in the mage circle tower after redcliff.

Who says you need to start in Redcliff...I always start in the circle of magi tower in order to gain a good healer ( Wynne ) - unless ofc I am the healer myself.

Note that if you leave Redcliffe after arriving, you "leave the town to its fate" and when you return everybody in town is dead. So if you've already started Redcliffe, you'll either need to adjust your strategy (I did the nighttime encounter with no healing magic at all on Hard) or reload to a previous point.

Yes, you can do the mage tower first, and you get her kind of early, but of course you have to finish the mage tower before you can head to Redcliffe then
She *is* absolutely invaluable though, especially if you have problems at Redcliffe, a second (or third) mage is probably a good idea...

you can do any area at any time, there is no specific order. I usually go for companions first before I do other quests, and figured that it made sense that the circle mage would be at the tower so went there.

Mage tower should always be the first stop in any playthrough. Not only in Wynne there, but you can get a bunch of permanent stat boosts to boot.

so everybody ends up dead if you deny assistance in Redcliffe?
I know i'd probably get approve points by Sten, but isn't it the case that you can only complete the Sten's Sword quest if the NPC who provides it in question is still alive in redcliffe?
Kind of contradictory, no?

You can do any area whenever you want BUT the story kind of points you pretty heavily towards Redcliffe thanks to Allistair.

I started in Redcliff first run through.
It is far better to start with the mage's tower. Since not only do you get bunch of stats there, you also get Wynn, and you need to do Mage's Tower if you want the perfect ending for Redcliff anyways.

True but once you take the main hall you can return and do the circle tower and then come back with the mages for the "best option" for the kiddie.

The stats boost are not big and so not a big deal. The story seems to point you to redcliff first where you can learn that there is also trouble at the circle of magi. When you try to solve the problem with connor, Alister will strongly reject blood magic and if you ask suggest getting help from the Circle of Magi.
Honestly, redcliff is easy on normal or even hard without a heal spell as long as you stack up on potions in Lothering. The reverent is tough but instead of getting heal for Morrigan I now get cone of cold. With 2 cold spells and my 2h warrior with the passive that makes all attacks have a chance to stun, you can lock down a reverent pretty easily. Just take care if the archers first and if you save the town the knights will help you here as well if you open the gate.
I find fighting the corpses in the castle more difficult thanks to their great numbers and resistance to cold. Then again, if you make your own heal potions from supplies bought in Lothering you won't have a problem.

Yes; my first time doing this, I let the mother kill herself to redeem her stupidity and got reemed for it by Alistair in the camp the following night. I quit and start over at that point.
Funny thing is both of my sisters chose to let the mother kill herself as I did. We all laughed when we shared notes at that.
