I've also experienced this problem. It occurred, specifically, after the first terminal hacking quest for Liara and while I was on my way to perform the second terminal hacking quest. It always occurred just after taking a few steps out into the open area (the "trade floor") near the stairs up to Liara's office or into the hallway that leads back towards the starting point of Thane's recruitment mission.
I haven't had a chance to try running it in windowed mode, but hopefully a better solution than that is discovered.

ok, if this works for people it will be good for a laugh+fix
try walking down the hallway 'backwards' (with camera looking shep in the face/behind him/her, walking forward with 'S' towards the camera)
i seem to be able to walk down the hallway now w/o a crash

Just ran into this bug while trying to get around other bugs in the dlc (being forced to start the dlc mission and not being able to get Samara's intel). Quite ironic.
I don't know what happened to this dlc, it could have used bit of testing I guess...

I too have this problem. To solve this problem temporarily, I disabled AA in the nVidia Control Panel. Note that I usually enable/force AA using the NV Control Panel. This may or may not work for ATI users, but give it a try if you had enabled AA in CCC panel.

I got hit with this issue yesterday. I ultimately rebooted my pc, ran Gamebooster (as usual) and launched ME2. I then got through the walkway without a hitch. Maybe it was luck.

I played through this game once already, and I did the DLC fairly early in the game, but This time around, I started the mission, and then headed back to my ship before taking the cab to Liara's apt. I noticed that the tag on the planet said "Take cab to Liara's" I re-landed on ilium and just as I endered the hallway, about a 1/3rd of the way, crash! I even went and gained a couple levels, and tried altering my appearance, my squad mates, and turned music off...

Oh crap!!! I figured out a solution! I don't know if it will work for you, as it may have been a coincidence...This was the first and only time this dlc didn't freeze....I opened the windows based gui ME2 configuration, set turned EVERYTHING below resolution and windowed mode....to off, I left it in fullscreen, but everything else I turned off...and I saved it, and walked right through the hallway, and am not 3/4's of the way through LotSB DLC...

Big bump, this needs to be fixed, i started again with shepard, planning to do Lotsb after i got out of the collectors base, but im so stuck on illium, already have samara, but when i ask for thane, or liara's side quests it just crashes over and over. I already have done a complete reinstall of the game and dlc (steam version btw)
Suppose i could try the windowed mode, but please Bioware, fix this issue.

I am also having the exact same problem in that hallway. With my first character I had already completed the game before I played LOTSB and got no errors. Now I am replaying again with a new character and I am crashing everytime I go through the hallway under Liara's office. Can we have a fix please?

Let me add my voice to this this thread. Trying to walk through that hallway crashed my game every single time I went through it. Turning off motion blur in configuration worked to get through the hallway, but after talking to Liara, the game crashed as soon as I got downstairs from her office. I'll try windowed mode and all the other recommendations here, but this is ridiculous. For every person posting the issue here, there have to be a dozen more who have it and don't post it, and I've found several threads on this forum reporting issues on Ilium. If anyone's still paying attention to this forum, please help!!!

I have no problems with Illium or Liara. Completed SB, Liara in SB base.
The only thing I can think of... I only finished the first Liara's mission (hacking terminals) before starting SB. I didn't do the second one, after which she kills her assistant.
System specs:

GPU details
ME2 Config Util Summary
ME2 Video Config

Argh. Also consistently crashing in that hallway, and nowhere else.

Its going to be a tough one for Bioware to fix if nobody can be bothered posting their specs to try and help narrow it down to a particular OS, GPU, CPU, Mobo, Audio card, or even distribution.

Windowed borderless mode worked around it. Nvidia GTX480 (driver 266.58), Windows 7 64-bit, maxed out graphics settings. First-time runthrough.

There would be one part of your problem I would say. Latest nVidia drivers are buggy in relation to ME2. Latest drivers often incorprate tweaks designed to work with newer games, while creating havoc with older games like ME2.

Mine rocks now prob...however, I always play LOTSB after I've survived Omega 3...seems it was planned that way anyway. I do play Overlord and Firewalker to up my cash and resources early in the game...have played through 16 times w/o experiencing what yawl are goin' through. Seems goofy that they'd make it so, but could there be something in game that forces ya' to finish Omega 3 before starting LOTSB?

Certainly could be, though nVidia tends to be good about backwards compatibility and fix stuff they get reported. NWN2 was unplayable for a few months recently, for example. But it got fixed.
Any pointers to other ME2 nVidia trouble lately?

I don't have links on me, but Nvidia does indeed seem to screw up ME compatibility on a somewhat regular basis. The resulting bugs range from blue patches in some spots where there should be textures, to general graphical corruption/artifacting all over the place, to sometimes not even being able to run. That said:
-Newer series like the 400/500s don't seem to have that happen as often as older series like the 7000s, so I wouldn't worry too much in your case.
-Plenty of other people have reported this bug in connection with LotSB. While it certainly could be driver-related, I doubt it's as simple as "Nvidia messed it up," like it is in some other cases mentioned above.

Thank you for the ideas, going to window mode helped me get though it
you can tell, when people who are not game testers speak up, too many people were reporting the same thing, for it to be a person's issue
makes you wonder about the testing of the DLC, since it looks to be related to it, maybe all of the testers use the same system set up (which is a bad idea)
(and yes, I am a Alpha/Beta tester, but not for EA (I wouldn't last long)
thanks again

I've had success with starting and stopping a lot as I walk down the hallway. Walk a little, pause, walk a little, pause.
Always save before that hallway though.
