wasn't sure whether to post this here (since we do a lot of testing) or in general so I'll just post it in both. If they get merged they get merged.

So I just got another engineer to 30 and noticed that the squadpoints were all jacked up, no one had 31 and I even had one as low as 26. I opened the save up in gibbed and noticed that the henchmen all have levels attached to them under the raw tab, some were at 30, but there were a couple as low as 20. I figured maybe it was something to do with having used the refund all talent points option on an earlier save so I decided to go back and open up a save from way before I ever started messing with gibbed.

I opened up a save from my 2nd playthrough and the levels were equally jacked up. Has anyone else run into this?

p.s.

Before anyone brings it up, I KNOW full well that Miranda and Jacob getan extra point, that's not the issue here.

[edit here]

Ok after doing some digging it appears that maybe it's a parameter gibbed just doesn't understand and that the refund all talent points tool is jacked up. The levels are as follows

NEW SAVE post LotSB respec

Jacob lvl 30        30 TP
Miranda lvl 30        29 TP
Zaeed lvl 30          26 TP
Mordin lvl 30         29 TP
Grunt lvl 30        27 TP
Jack lvl 30         26 TP
Kasumi lvl 30        27 TP
Tali  lvl 30         27 TP
Garrus    lvl 30        27 TP
Thane lvl 30        29 TP
Samara lvl 30        29 TP

ON THE OLD SAVE (pre gibbed)

Jacob lvl 25        31 TP
Miranda lvl 30        31 TP
Zaeed  lvl 13        30 TP
Mordin lvl 29         30 TP
Grunt lvl 19   30 TP
Jack lvl 29        30 TP
Tali lvl 26         30 TP
Garrus    lvl 21        30 TP
Thane lvl 30        30 TP
Samara lvl 30        30 TP
Legion lvl 30         30 TP

So on the old save the talent points are properly allocated even though the levels are kinda crazy where as in the new save the levels have balanced out post LotSB but the points are still wrong. My guess is that the lvl stat is meaningless and that the refund all points option iin gibbed is quasibroken.

I noticed same thing when looking at squadmates. It seems Gibbed's remembers last time you used squadmates. I was level 25, but some squadies were still lvl 8 (no talent points displayed either), but when I start a new mission and bring them along; they're same level Shep is and all talent points can be used like it's supposed to.

Have to take a look at some old saves to see if I can find something wrong.

Ok, I just did the refund talent points on a different save and there's definitely something off about it. I'm at lvl 22 on that save. At lvl 22 squadmates without their loyalty mission completed should have 24 points available for spending, with Miranda and Jacob coming in at 25. If the loyalty mission is complete they get the free point putting them at 25 and 26 points respectively. When I opened up the save in the raw tab all of their points were correct but the levels were all different. I ran the refund all points tool and saved the game. When I loaded the game I went to ilos and started swapping the entire team in and out. I noticed that the point totals were jacked up for all of them except for Jack, Tali, and Grunt. When I opened up the save in Gibbed I noticed that the lvls had all been flattened out to 22. So gibbed is messing something up there is the conclusion I have to come to.

The lvls that are assigned are either meaningless (hard to test squadmate damage and it doesn't appear armor or barrier numbers are changed at all) or gibbed just doesn't understand them. And it certainly doesn't provide the proper number of talent points.

Isn't there now an in-game option to refund all points for everyone?

Well yeah, and I didn't use that particular function very often (I use gibbed primarily to import head morphs and change names since I only have a couple of characters to import and I don't want all my people having the same name) which is why I didn't notice the issue earlier. It just struck me as odd when I was looking around at raw stats that everyone had different levels assigned to them even if the points were right.

ah, I see. What happens if you try to retrain them using the terminal in SB center? It might fix the points problem.

Nah I tried that, I included the numbers on the post LotSB respec in the OP. It flattens out their levels, but the points remain jacked up.

In the old save from my second playthrough, pre-gibbed all the points are perfect, but the levels are jacked up. I'm under the impression the lvls attached to the characters are simply being misread by gibbed since that file is a "clean" file.

Gibbed always showed the squad at a lower level than you, even before LoTSB. Try swapping the team and bringing the low level squadddies in to the party.

I don't think the team mates get their levels updated until they are taken off the Normandy. At which point they are updated based on Shep's current level. The wikia has the point assignments pretty well defined with regards to squads and at what levels the actually get points.

I used to do the same as you, sinosleep, with gibbed until I realized that gibbed only refunds the current point cache. So, while a character may have been at level 24... gibbed's tool only would refund the points available in the raw section.

As another example, I start with lvl60 me1 save. So, I'm at lvl5 or better once I start recruiting. I get Mordin on the ship and change a weapon on him so he appears in the raw section. Only, his talent points are zero, when they should be 10 or so. Add some points and then take him back to the station and you'll see the points he should have had plus the points you added.

The problem isn't necessarily with gibbed, but rather with the save file not being updated wrt talent points/levels until you actually take a mate off the normandy.

I've pretty much settled on where I spend points so i don't really respec anymore. But if you're going to used gibbed, then simply manually respec via the Raw tab. Note the points the character should have. Remove all the evolved's and set all the base to zero. Add the points back to the talent points field and save. Reload save and respend the points.

Not as easy as the one button approach, but not hard either.
