I wanna know if in next updates can we  put  piercings?

And if, is it  possible create custom hairs with external 3d program or tatoos with 2d program?

Thanks and you've a good Quest.

I think this topic should be in [Dragon Age Toolset Forum] because I'm sure the modders will make piercing mods as well as custom hairs using toolset provided by Bioware.
Or there might be a DLC pack including new hairs tho

You need both 3d and 2d programs to make hair models for mesh and texture.
Or import hair from other games(user created contents - make sure you get consent from the modders!) like sims, oblivion of fallout 3. From what I remember I think it's illegal to import official contents.

The only thing you can do prior to the game coming out is texture edits. Once the game and toolset becomes available in a couple of weeks then custom models will be possible.

I doubt the CC will ever be patched (it's just a marketing tool, not a game in itself). Assuming you are planning on getting a console version of DA and would still like to play with the CC, certain custom character mods should be compatible with it once they start appearing.

I agree with Mordaedil. A splendid job you did there, DarthParametric! But yes, I wouldn't mind adding a few piercings to my Character. A scar or two would be a better touch for him, though.

Well if you want mods for a character in the actual game, you'll have to wait for the toolset to be released. If you just want to mess around with the CC to make avatars for the forum, then certain things are possible. You couldn't do earings/piercings that require model edits (i.e. anything hanging free of the ear/nose/etc.), but you could do texture-based ones seeing as the engine supports displacement/normal maps. Scars should be possible as well, but I'm not sure what the best way to go would be to get them to play nicely with all the head morph options. My Maul experiments were all brute force overrides.

DarthParametric, could you post a tutorial of how to change textures and create new ones, like you have done for Darth Maul?

Same way I did it for my character Fester.

It's an exploit in how the forums work. I already told BioWare last week how it can be done. Obviously, others are figuring it out for themselves.

As with me, DarthParametric will be asked to remove it once they become aware of his portrait.

I can understand why though.

The Darth Maul, & the Fester faces are both awesome! Posted Image If they were both done by just the Toolset alone, then I don't understand why they would be forbidden. Posted Image

I've been curious about this for ages, but any chance of the toolset enabling the option of modding our characters with the hair or other special features from the Origins Poster Characters? (Especially interested in the Elf Mage Poster Girl's hair. I planned my city elf mage with it, then found out it wasn't a hair option in the CC. Posted Image Without it, she isn't ready to go in all respects!)

Because the same technique could be used to create something that is innappropriate to the site itself.

Ahh, a fair point. But if someone is determined enough to be a snotrag, they could do it by hacking as well. Unfortunately, there's no shortage of jerks in this world. Why should us honest people miss out? Posted Image

Oh, I got an idea! Maybe Bioware could make a place on this site to submit Toolset alterations for review first, & then non-offensive faces could be greenlighted for social site use. Posted Image Offensive ones could be rejected, thus not having to be banned later.

It's hardly an exploit. They designed the character upload system in the full knowledge that they were selling a game that comes with a toolset for the explicit purpose of allowing people to modify said game. What exactly did they think was going to happen? Now granted the CC wasn't intended to be modded, but in a couple of weeks when the game is out every man and his dog will be uploading modded characters. If they didn't want people to upload anything but default content then why enable the feature in the first place?

What we've both done is not possible with the CC, which is the basics of character creation from the game itself. The feature to upload said portraits and characters that are not available as a character choice has nothing to do with CC or the toolset but pure modification outside of the system Bioware designed.

We both went around this feature and if you don't think it's an exploit, message Jesse and ask him what he thinks of you having a portrait that is impossible to get by using the features provided in the character creator.

Sure, I understand folks will want to customize things on their end, and I think it's great to be able to do so, but you and I are manipulating the forum by making modifications to files outside of what I feel Bioware had intended.

Bioware asked me to switch my modified portrait from my Fester character, I hope they give you the same courtesy.

FP!
