heyas;
... i really dont know what make movie options to use to get it to output a full-sized un-compressed video. what settings do you guys use?
In Sony Vegas I render out using Quicktime format with the Photo - JPEG codec selected and at 30 fps.
This insures top of the line quality and a video format that youtube understanding perfectly. This is one of the best quality settings I've found that converts nicely into Youtube HD.
I also use 1280x720 resolution but currently my laptop is runing Dragon Age at a slightly higher resolution so this might change

While you're at it, dream about hiring an animator to get you that horse riding animation as well, the sit down animation is rather.. how should we say.. stiff? lol
Oh, I already thought about that part

Most often these I either made in response to something someone posted on the forums or just as a brief sample of things that can be done. I haven't spent much time polishing them up. I'm sure you could find ways via the use of camera switching and such to have the riders look a bit more natural (perhaps a closeup of the top of the riders and deers body. Or in the case of the chariot, a zoomed out image of some movement and zoom in a bit to hide the fact that the wheels do not in fact turn.)

Quality should be much better, as I've switched from Windows Movie Maker to Windows Live Movie Maker (gives me access to HD).
Tried out some new stuff this time round, mainly FaceFX and headtracking. Don't know what the deal is with the sound; as I understand it, all the sounds should play because all the creatures were placed in the area and activated in the cutscene ... but no. Of all the sounds that should be audible, 95% aren't. Oh well.

Her head at the beginning snapping back to neutral was a bit of a problem though. It would have felt more realistic if she were looking to her left, then her right without slippng back to neutral unless it was a smoother transition. Your cam work is getting better too

How did you get the image of the single bird flying at the beginning of your scene? (With the moon as the back drop). Was that bird an fx or a creature with animation? (I have a scene where I have needed a single bird flying but haven't been able to find out how to accomplish that.)

I get what you mean about her head movements at the start, DahliaLynn, but I just loved that opening shot of her staring into the camera, and I couldn't resist using it.
And Beerfish, definitely take a look at Windows live movie maker. As for the bird flying against the moon - sheer chance, in a sense. It may be hard to see, but just at the point where she starts walking and then stops, there's an animation of a flock (?) of ravens taking flight from the trees to her left. When the camera cuts to the shot of the sky, it picks up the end of that animation, only sometimes it shows one bird, sometimes 3 or 4. It was just luck that it showed a single bird when I recorded in game.

It seems that moviemaker live is only for Os' more advanced than XP. Hopefully I can properly transfer my cutscenes to my newer lap top and edit them there. Actually, that should be no problem at all as I will just be transferring the avi file not the cutscene itself. I'll have to check that out this evening.

Here's a tip, if at any point you feel you can not make a wide shot believable, due to animation connectivity, then do some mid to close ups of the action to cover these abnormalities up

Thanks.
I'm still very much hit and miss when it comes to animation transitions - a big hammer blow to believability - so that's a good tip to bear in mind. I'm planning to try a lot more stuff camera-wise with my next project (my new level is pretty much done), and switching between wide, mid and close shots is sure to come in to it.

Personally, I'd've been tempted to drop the ruin on the teacher's head ... is there a decent 'squish' sound fx in the toolset?
Speaking of which, some clear, crisp audio - did you use emitters?

I thought the best thing about that clip was the stellar voice acting.

dragon age outtakes: landsmeet
this is a quickie for a tutorial i'm working on. i learned a LOT! like how to swipe creatures from the sp module (AND have them work in a cutscene, unlike last time), how to tweak the lip-synch, and how to really mess up the VO :X
PS: expanding on methrid's advice... camera angles and cuts are your friends. nay, your life-savers!
i remember once seeing a documentary on the muppet show, how they do certain tricks with the muppets. for example, gonzo answering the phone. the trick is, they do one shot of him grabbing the phone, then a camera cut, then replace him with a model that has the phone stuck to his hand when he picks it up.
(and you can do VO for me any time, beerfish!

Still having sound issues - some of them decided to play in-game this time, but far too many didn't, so I had to place some sounds here and there to fill in some of the gaps. It's far from perfect, but other stuff I've been experimenting with - fades, bloom and hsvmatrix - I'm kinda happy with.
