Rogue comes in handy for utility. Basically, all parties need a rogue if not only to open chests and doors. So, being a rogue actually opens more options gameplay wise on deciding who you want to accompany you. I also like the 'cunning' dialogue options that peak through once in a while.
I played through the game three times (made a ton of characters, but only beat it three times) using a mage, warrior, and then rogue. I do have to say that Rogue and Mage were more fun than warrior - at least in my opinion. Having to run around for backstabs, the ability to disarm traps, stealing, hiding, etc were just plain fun! Mage was great for perspective. I really shouldn't have gone Arcane Warrior because it made my warrior boring (seemed like my warrior was just a wannabe of my AW).
I'll almost definitely make my first playthrough of DA2 a rogue
