I save Kaidan, because I think Ashley Williams has a pretty good story arc if she dies on Virmire. She gets to redeem her family name, and posthumously earns medals from - well - every race out there practically, according to the news in ME2. I highly doubt any future Williamses would have any problem advancing in the Systems Alliance military. It seems - for a character that loves poetry - a poetic way to die. Especially if she went down fighting alongside Salarians - so I usually send her with them.

If Kaidan dies on Virmire, if I was reading about his story in a history book - it just doesn't have any punch to it. He's only that guy who died on Virmire when the nuke went off. Maybe human biotics get a better shake, but you could help them out through a sidemission. I just think more needs to happen with Kaidan for him to be interesting.

ManShep or FemShep, Paragon or Renegade - my ME1 Shepard either romances Liara or nobody, so that doesn't come into it.

I play an infiltrator so to balance my team I used Kaidan and Wrex always. I never used Ashley in my squad. Kaidan is also my love interest.

Kaiden always seemed a whiny ****, and I hated that little cut scene when you go over to talk to him.

I normally send Ashley with the salarians, so I always end up saving her to make sure Kirrahe lives. It also just seems epic to die defending a nuke when it goes off, but thats just my opinion... lol

I am always torn between which to kill during my playthroughs because I dislike both of 'em. During my latest playthrough I killed Ashely and Saved Kaiden, because Kaiden seems to be the lesser evil of the two. Kaiden is just a whiner while Ashely is Xenophobic and Religious.

I ought to make a macro for responding to this kind of nonsense.  But I'm too tired to bother now.

She may not be very xenophobic and that is not my main reason. The main reason is she believes in a god and I cant stand that in people. Hell, I kill Leliana for the same reason.

This isn't the right place for me to start a big religious discussion, but I hope you understand how bigoted and smallminded that makes you sound.

As for the original question, I've done a number of ME playthroughs, and I think I saved Ashley all but once.  Kaidan's fairly boring in my opinion, but the main reason is I'm old-fashioned.  What kind of man lets a woman die when he could do something to stop it? (yeah yeah, I know, if I told her she'd shoot me herself:whistle:)

Romanced Ash on a previous playthrough. Never got past Kaidan's Onasi Syndrome.

I truly hope that you're a 15 year old that is just realizing that they don't need to believe everything their parents say and is overreacting to that realization in a big way before coming to a middling ground later on in life..

If you are any more physically/socially mature than that... May God have mercy on your soul.Posted Image

I usually save Kaidan - superior rank, biotic, open-minded.

Ashley is ordinary soldier with no special abilities, dime a dozen.

Kaiden dies, every single time. Why? Because he's Carth Onasi and if someone gives me the oppertunity to blow up Carth with a nuke, I say 'thank you kindly' and take it.

I saved both through different playthroughs. However If I had to choose I would save Kaiden. I love his character and want him by my side in ME3.

Ash's sacrifice will also clear her family name. It's what she wanted.

I  always save Ashley, because she seemed like a more interesting and complex character. I found Kaiden to be very dull.

On my Infiltrator(my first, and pretty much primary character) ended saving Ashley on my Insanity run(which is the one I ended up importing into ME2). There's some upsides and downsides to this, for me, anyways:

Pros:

-Slept with her, eh? Eh?

-Girlfriend's gonna get maaad in ME3.

Cons:

-Kaiden was a bro.

-Bros b4 hoes.

-Did I mention kaiden was, like, a bro?

I usually save Kaidan, depending on the playthrough, he's more useful and I think he has a better back story. I just hate Ashley's snarky comments all the time. I just wanna tell her to shut up everytime she opens her mouth.

I save Kirrahe ;)

Truly, he was the main factor that decided who lived through Virmire on my first playthrough. It was Kaidan who survived, because I thought he was more suitable to work with aliens.

Ashley was pretty much doomed to die the second she started spouting poetry at me. I'm inclined to agree with a previous poster that the "religious" side of her wasn't particularly appealing either. I don't care for religion in life or otherwise, and I don't feel that Ashley being a religious character brought much to make her any less annoying either.

it was her or Kaiden...seriously I would leave both of them. haha. besides at least Ashley had more balls than Kaiden.  I did both for story sakes anyway.  Meeting Kaiden with my Male Shep in 2 was reeally awkward.
