Kill Ashley so you can hear the news say she once said "Human or alien, we're all just animals." Umm, no she didn't ever say that.

Killed Ashley because she's racist and I'm anti-Human, if anything. And when I found out she could have shot Wrex, I knew I'd made the right call.

Kaidan's pretty dull, but he doesn't judge people due to their species, give me daily sermons, or get pissy with me because the blue chick was hitting on me (Really, I shot you both down, get over it). He might have been staring at my ass all of ME1, but I'll pretend that never happened.

Edit: Why do I suddenly want to reload the save before the nuke goes off with "Buuuurn baby burn!" in the background?

Yuck. Religious poetry. Edit2: Actually, something just occured to me...

Did she actually say that poem? If she did, then I'm happier than ever to have killed her off.

I choose to go after Ashley because she had a group of salarians w/ her. I don't know if they die if a go after Kaidan, but in all my playtroughts I chose to don't risk. Besides, she is great in combat ^^

This for the most part - I mean - I was romancing Liara, and didn't like her I wouldn't say racist rants she wasn't for Terra Firma, but still definitely not my favorite character but I didnt dislike her either - but I had divided them by having her go with the Salarians AA tower and Kaidan arm the nuke because, well, don't really trust Ashley for that =D. I knew one would have to be sacrificed but thats all didn't know how it worked out and didn't want to know more.

As a paragon character - I mean, it made more sense to go to AA tower esp when Kaidan armed the nuke already. The other reason - I never used Kaidan, and Ashley was an awesome combat character, and I wanted to get her Ally acheivement =)

PLUS Ive played both decisions/going to nuke site for rescue and AA tower since and it's far more cinematic going to AA tower, as when Normandy picks up you see Kaiden wounded, smiling and shooting before it blows up. Just makes more sense this way to me for paragon anyways. GRanted you could just send Kaidan to AA and Ashley to Nuke.

I've always saved Ashley. Kaiden is more dull and boring than watching paint dry in the dark. And i just liked Ashley, although i always romanced Liara. Except for her being a bit of a racist **** about aliens sometimes she was okay with me. Her religious side was a big hit with me, as a christian. But it all came down to, i saved Ashley because i liked her more, and Kaiden had less personality than a brick.

Does anybody else feel like a complete jerk for romancing Ash/Kaidan and Liara, then picking Liara and then killing Ash/Kaidan? I don't why, I just feel kind of mean for dumping somebody then killing him/her.

Lol that's the ultimate Renegade option imo IF you want a romance still =)

I like to romance Ash first then Liara and choose her as paragon but don't kill Ash. And choose Liara before Virmire. (because forced too).

Ashley

Mostly because I was playing 2 soldier with tali for tech stuff and I didn't want to have to replace Ashley with Liara full time as Liara and Tali kept seeming to get melee blitzed when I did that.  Also Kaiden was the first person to volunteer for a potential suicide mission.

So far I have always saved Ashley and it's not gonna change anytime soon. Kaidan is just is dull and boring character and not even useful in fight.

Also I always send Ashley with Salarians, so I have that much more reason to save her.

Had to make sure the bomb went off plus Ashley was with a group, the Salarians, and Kaiden was alone. Her insistence that I save the higher ranking officer helped.

I always save Kaidan. Not that he's more fun to talk to or better in combat, I just hate William's naive personality and her dislike towards aliens.

Besides, she has a big family and will be remembered. Kaidan, on the other hand, if I kill him, no one will remember him.

I hate Kaidan. I never, ever save him. I listened to Carth Onasi whining for far too long, letting his resurrected-in-spirit-and-voice-actor clone die in a nuclear fireball was intensely satisfying.

I save Kaidan, because I think Ashley Williams has a pretty good story arc if she dies on Virmire. She gets to redeem her family name, and posthumously earns medals from - well - every race out there practically, according to the news in ME2. I highly doubt any future Williamses would have any problem advancing in the Systems Alliance military. It seems - for a character that loves poetry - a poetic way to die. Especially if she went down fighting alongside Salarians - so I usually send her with them.

If Kaidan dies on Virmire, if I was reading about his story in a history book - it just doesn't have any punch to it. He's only that guy who died on Virmire when the nuke went off. Maybe human biotics get a better shake, but you could help them out through a sidemission. I just think more needs to happen with Kaidan for him to be interesting..

That about sums up my thought process. It just seems like there is more cinematic oomph to Ashley dying on Virmire opposed to Kaidan. Particularly in the news reports you get in ME2 - Kaidan has a memorial scholarship sending biotic kids to school. Ashley is given medals by just about every race and redeems her family's name in the Alliance history books. It is more poetic, especially given her initial distrust of non-humans. She gives her life right alongside them. There's just more meaning in her death, at least to me.

Also, I normally send Ash to the AA Towers while Kaidan sets up the nuke. Tactically, the towers are the distraction, the nuke is what matters. There's still a chance, however slight, that the geth could hack the nuke and prevent it from going off. So, to date, I always go back for the nuke technician, rather than going to help the one at the towers.

Because Kaiden activating the bomb gave the mission the best chance of success. I would have made the same decision if Kaiden went with salarians and Ashley had the bomb. Who ever has the bomb needs to make sure it blows it's why we were there.
Why send Ashley with Salarians?
Strong combat fighting with assault group giving the Salarians best chance at survival= Ashley,
Tech making sure that if there was problem with jury rigged bomb the assigned personal could correct it = Kaiden, that choice was made for me really.

Uhh... No, she most certainly did not. DoNothingest made up that pile of.. dogma. Ashley tends to quote classical poetry. Tennyson's Ulysses in particular is one of her favorites. Perhaps you should play through ME1 and actually pay attention to what is being said.
<_<

"I cannot rest from travel: I will drink
Life to the lees; all times I have enjoy'd
Greatly, have suffer'd greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone; on shore, and when
Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
Vext the dim sea: I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known; cities of men
And manners, climates, councils, governments..."
- Lord Alfred Tennyson 1833

Killed Ash, may god have her soul. Seriously if you still believe in god after all the aliens disproved the whole of christianity and such you're probably not that smart anyway. I really dislike religous Americans, they are practically the Taliban of the west (please see Tea Party members opinions on things to get my point). Ofc the fact that Ash and me are soldiers so Kaidan fits better in the team is also a reason.

She is not a zealot. She only mentions God once.

I'm an atheist myself, but I fail to see how the existance of aliens disproves the existance of God. All it proves is that God as most religions understand it does not exist; not that there isn't a higher power.

Really? Ashley had more of a background, Kaiden was boring and never talked about anythin except headaches and instructors and i hate the little cut scene when you go and talk to him. Ashley only talked about god once and isn't it "everyone has a right to their own opinion?" Ashley was just stating her opinion. Plus if you really think she's racist she isn't because if some alien creature came down to our earth we'd act the same way.

First off everyone keep religion out of these forums. Putting down Christians, fantasy or reality is offensive. End of story.

Now back to the post.

**This has some really small ME2 spoilers**

My reason for letting Kaiden die was kind of awkward since I persued a relationship with Liara anyways so it could have been either him or Ash. But Kaiden at the time, for me was really boring, like Jacob boring. He was one of those nice guys, the kind that is good for a quick chat but not really someone who you related with like Garrus or Wrex. Ashley had more of a personality that was attractive not just astetically but as a person overall. I kind of wanted Ash to have a chance to redeem herself after her family name got screwed (Seems to have helped in ME2), so she lives in my main Shepard playthrough.

To be fair, Kaiden is actually pretty cool too but you have to play female Shepard to get him to open up more, you don't get that (obviously) from male Shepard and obviously you can guess I let him live in Fem Shep's run.

Ok, so here's my reason for saving her (note: it was my first play through):

Of course I wanted the romantic plot with here, doing everything to save here, be good with here, played as paragon, but ... so at one time at the ship, no idea if Sheppard was drunk or not, he had one of the many conversation with Liara and unfortunately hit the wrong answer.

So what happened? Before I realize I'd bang her instead of Ash, so the whole live saving thing was unnecessary ... oh damn :-) But I really had a good lough because behind my imaginary eye I really focused on Ashley but already begani to wonder why she'd always prefer to clean the damn weapons instead of talking to me and it wasn't until "it" happened that I got into bed with an alien. Big *ooops*.
