I look forward to seeing your results. 

However, I will be taking them with a grain of salt as they will be heavily biased by "the preferences of ME2 fans that are either late to the game, or who are hardcore enough to stick on forums 8 months after release."  I think it will be squewed to the minority of very obsessive types... not the more accurate 50% that don't finish the game, 80% Sheploos, majority soldiers, that have black ops on pre-order.  Thus, Tali will win everything, as has been the trend with forum types.  

I would still like to see Bioware release LI choice popularity numbers.

Dude, Liara is winning, even the Tali fans know that. Lair of the Shadowbroker boosted her popularity tremendously.

I'm wondering how much LOTSB has altered people's opinions of Liara. I loved her character in ME1 and I was dismayed to hear how disliked she had become by many people (particularly people who never played ME1) after her butchered appearance in ME2. I hope that having some DLC which finally does her character justice will change the minds of some of the people who saw her appearance in ME2 and came off thinking of her as "that weird psycho **** who had me hack all those damned terminals for her".

I think you have a point that this poll won't reflect the 50% of people who didn't finish the game; but I'm not sure their opinions matter so far as this poll is concerned.  I mean if they aren't even finishing the game they probably don't have any significant  opinions on the characters in the first place.

As for the poll being swayed by fan fanatics I don't think that should be too big a factor since all the characters have a following and having a limited following is in and of itself an indicator of a character's popularity. 

More importantly though, even if someone is a big fan of a character it won't sway the polls that much so long as they give an honest opinion on the other character and don't try to sway the poll by giving other characters artificially low scores.  Aside from that XX55XX is studying statistics in college so I'd imagine those sort of outliers will be discarded anyway (for example if someone rates Tali 10 and everyone else 1, I'd imagine that would get chucked).

Well, I simply hope that people will give their honest opinions on all characters and not simply try to distort the results so that their favourite character wins.



For instance, my canon Shepard romanced Kaidan and remains faithful to him (he's my favourite squadmate); but, after seeing LotSB's romance material for Liara on YouTube, I have to vote for Liara's romance as the best-implemented one at this moment in time. I might *wish* for Kaidan's to be better, but at the moment I don't think it is. And I think these surveys are a complete waste of time if they only reflect competitiveness and wishful thinking rather than truthful reflections on our experiences of Mass Effect characters.

I can see how some of the attention shifted from Tali to Liara with the new DLC as even the most obsessed Tali fans have discussed her to death and Liara just got a lot more content that is new and fresh and is being presently being discussed to death but in the end I just don't see anywhere close to enough fans shifting to make Liara more popular than Tali. Even most of the Tali fans that are presently more focused on the Liara content will ultimately continue liking Tali and voting for Tali. I am a good example of this. I rarely even talk about Tali on the forums due to the immaturity and trolling going on in the Tali threads so by reading my posts one could easily think I like Liara more than Tali or that I rated Liara higher in the poll but this is as far from the truth as you can get. I'd never in a trillion years rate Liara higher than Tali.
