Hah, I actually think it works for those, but for DA* I'd have to say no.krogen117 wrote...
Op can't be serious, i despise jrpg's for that simple reason.

If there was a child in the party they wouldn't be able to engage in combat. Restrictions in some markets would prevent that-- Germany, for instance, forbids any violence being done to children on-screen.
The creators of Prey diddnt seem to worry about that.

Now that was a disturbing game.
They must not have released it in Germany then. Look at all the different packaging for Left 4 Dead had for the different markets.

I was just wondering do you think it would be cool to have a prodigy mage or something child in your team?
As long as it were "optional" to recruit said character I'd support it because, no matter if they're prodigies, savants, mature before their time etc etc...I just cant stand kids as a whole and would most certainly not want one in my party. Again, if it were optional Id support it for the people who DO want one in their party but just me personally wouldnt go out of my way to recruit him/her.

It probably wasnt, along with Deus Ex.

Granted, implying violence is a far different thing than actually showing it outright. Perhaps the character could actually shift between being an adult and being a child for battles? Now that would be cool beyond words, not to mention the storyline that made it possible.

Are you one of the folks who have a problem with a company wanting to earn a profit?
Regardless, think of their German fans. If a child companion were included, they wouldn't get the game. Wouldn't be a big hit with them.

Wow.....
Here we have fanboys defending a company mindlessly ......
Stupidity and Immorality go hand in hand these days or what?
All I am saying is that portrayal of child violence is wrong in any way you put it! Conflict diamonds anyone? Can profilt alone justify that?

Profits, it seems that it is all Bioware cares about these days.

These men and women aren't here to preach against beating kids or insulting their customers. So yes, they can say that.

Child companions happen plenty. I've already expressed my views on them.
Regardless, I'm having trouble deciphering what you're saying. You could slit a child's throat in DAO. I'd say that fits the bill of "immorality", so don't preach to me.

Matter of fact, I did not know that until now nor am I asking when....
I actually thought you were quite sensible and serious... but now this rant simply classifies you as supporting anything the devs do with rock-armour-brain.
Firstly, I am not preaching you. Did I say anywhere that you should do this and that? I am only taking about what bioware should include or not include. I believe that I have a right to an opinion that is based on sanity. If me "preaching" bioware offends you without the sense of context, you are a zealot fanboy/girl on the forum, which is not so uncommon. I can understand that (Yes, I am condescending. Do not make a separate post on that issue).
Secondly, my sincere and sensible point is not depicting cruelty towards children. Since I was unawares towards possibility of any such act in the DA:O I should be accounted innocent of this.
Finally is it so hard to comprehend what I am saying? Why do you think Germany has this ban in the first place? Do you think they are crazy?

Maybe you missed this part of your response to me:
"Here we have fanboys defending a company mindlessly ......
Stupidity and Immorality go hand in hand these days or what?"
If that was not a jab towards me I don't know what is. You were preaching at me. Originally to BioWare, and when I responded I mistook your intentions. For that I apologize.
Maybe you are innocent of not knowing Connor was killable (I have no idea why, though), but that doesn't change the fact the game contains it. I wouldn't advocate beating on a child, obviously; in DAO there was a demanding plot reason for killing him. As I said, I don't even want a kid companion anyway. I originally assumed you were objecting to BioWare's reasoning for not including a companion as being because they were sell-outs or something for scrapping ideas so they could sell to another country. That happens enough around here. I misjudged you; again, I apologize.
Still, games with a "T" rating, like FFXIII, have child companions. It depends on how it's handled in game.

Aren't members of the player's party exempt from that? There are enough games with a child protagonist who does fight enemies and gets hurt...
